Splitting Wood with an Axe (Bonus: Wood Splitting ASMR)

Breaking down the basics to wood splitting with an axe.
Splitting firewood is essential for becoming self reliant and saving money on our farm as our predominant heat source in our home. It is also my primary means for a great whole body workout.
My tool of choice is the Gransfors Bruk large splitting axe. This is not a paid promotion, just my honest opinion. This is my choice of axe for splitting all species of hardwood. This specific axe has probably split well over 300 cords of wood.
Axemanship is very important. There are so many resources for axe safety including not only the internet but also in books. Two books that I highly recommend are The Ax Book (The Lore and Science of the Woodcutter) by D. Cook and The Axe Handbook by Buchanan Smith.
