100%. I bet you worked on a lot of these today, just like many of us. Azure VMs were really fun. No console and serial over lan can’t be leveraged for WRE access. So, you basically have to snapshot the OS disk and mount the snap on a new working VM, delete the dreaded file, then take the snap and swap it with the affected VMs broken OS disk. Did this quite a few times manually then scripted remaining few hundred VMs with az cli.
Didn’t need these tips, wasn’t caught up in this one - but watched and liked to help your algorithms for being so cool as to use your platform to help others.

In the scenario you outlined, windows home with defender a computer could BSOD for a number of reasons, because all BSOD is, is reporting an error and then crashing before damage to your Windows install may occur. Usually, a BSOD provides an error code that you can reference to better understand the underlying issue. I once had a computer that would overheat and BSOD or more recently my graphics card was faulty, causing issues loading the driver, so it BSOD. TL/DR: there are many reasons a Windows computer would BSOD as it functions as an error reporting tool and as a way to prevent possible damage and corruption to your Windows installation and other data. It's a case by case incident.

@@advil000 I feel your pain. I had 4 large customers who do run Crowdstrike. All them were able to resolve and get back online within a few hours. The smallest customer had about 1500 VMs onprem or in Azure. I feel most bad for helpdesk workers at companies with crowdstrike and bit locker on laptops. That’s going to be a logistical challenge to get with each/user and laptop to apply the fix.

I am suprised even my windows xp pc was infected. My mom's windows 11 laptop was on cuz i was playing music with a big sound systen woofer, and both crashed at the same time and my xp pc had an unsaved project and i literally almost ate the keyboard, and damn, the speakers, those loud 50hz buzz from the laptop literally scared me
In the end; I found out the issue was this new ram we installed in my laptop to help with data and storage. I believe the ram was a bit faulty which is why my laptop kept throwing fits. If you have ram that's installed recently then perhaps that's the issue. If not then I genuinely hope you can find the issue sooner or later!
Very good question. Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that enables you to use Windows with basic drivers(means limited functionalities). If you encounter problems in Windows, restarting in Safe Mode allows you to continue working and to troubleshoot the problem. Here the fix is deleting the crowd strike file. Reboot in normal mode....
if you have bad disk ,multiples bad sector either C, or D , you should wait for the software to patch it self , rather than deleting , otherwise you will face sign in does not recognized for the account .

I haven't found the solution but I've found out how to reboot without being in safe mode. The problem comes from the gpu, which causes Windows to crash, so I deactivated them and now I'm on the cpu's gpu, waiting for me to find a solution to the problem.

It's enterprise software not used as default on windows machines. It's not universal but as close as a licensed software can get when it come to security. Or at least it was I've a feeling this will change soon
boot a ubuntu USB stick, try ubuntu without installing, navigate to that folder and delete the file, reboot. it would probably be nice to make a little bash script on the USB to delete the file if you need to repair many computers.

This is a regular day trying to actually use a Linux desktop as your main operating system. Microsoft might suck - but if you REALLY try to use Linux and not just play with distros this type of headache is a routine occurrence. Nothing keeps people on WIndows more than Linux. You do NOT need to use Linus to run Free Open Source Software.
But if the computer is protected with BitLocker (like all enterprise computers are) then a 48-digit number will need to be supplied. I wish it were that easy. 😢
And home PC's running Win 11 pro, so any consumer PC that is business oriented which has the most important data is unrecoverable if you don't have the key or access to the MS account. Gotta love Microsoft!

i had issue booting to the actual OS on my servers. Therefore, i couldn't see the c drive and the files i needed. It would boot to a "live" OS
