- Thank you Pre-Dental Universe for providing the virtual podium for this talk! Here I go over tips and tricks on how to make it through college and dental school to become an orthodontist! I also go over what the job is like as a resident in training, and show you a day in the life as well. I hope you enjoy this, and if you're interested in orthodontics, subscribe, like and comment below on your thoughts! I'd be curious to know what you think! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this video! It is so very helpful! I'm in the 11th grade and right now i'm just trying to look into certain colleges and what exactly I want to do. I would either like to go into being a dental assistant, a dental hygienist, or an orthodontic assistant. You explained and went into so many different topics that i've been trying to find videos about and it was so helpful! thanks so much!
Omg wow, I am watching this and I am so excited. I might actually want to become a orthodontist. I am young so I want to study now and your page is amazing, if I have any more questions can I just comment on your page 💖
of course!
Amazing video, thank you! I'm currently studying a Bachelor of science in Cell and Mollecular biology. I will be applying to dental school soon and I find orthodontics fascinating!
Amazing!! Yes, take it one step at a time and I’m sure you’ll be an orthodontist if you set your goals to become one!
This was so helpful. I’m unfortunately taking a non-traditional path to dental school. Thank you so much!!
You can still do it! You might be an even more unique applicant!
Thank you for this great content!! Do you do fillings,RCTs, and extractions for the patients before you Orthodontically treat them or you only do the Orthodontic treatment during residency?
We just do the orthodontics!
Thanks for watching!
What kind of patterns/personality type/lifestyle did you notice while shadowing/getting to know OMFS?
OMFS are very smart and assertive! One of the reasons I didn’t pursue it though was the lifestyle (more serious emergencies/liabilities, more physically demanding work, always standing, and less time for self care). I noticed orthodontists had the best posture out of all the specialists as well, so that was another big tip off to the lifestyle I wanted!
Hi Dr.Jeon, thank you for your amazing video - I found it so helpful! One quick questions, was the CV you showed us the CV that you submitted for your application to orthodontics residency programs? Also, who did you get your reference letters from?
This one was for my college application actually N

i’m in NYC and i recently just got my braces off. I noticed that my orthodontist had a small office and had 1 receptionist and 1 assistant. Assuming this they would have much less pay than normal right? Also i’m very nervous in perusing this career as it seems very complicated
You would be surprised! Smaller offices have lower overhead so their margins can actually be bigger. That orthodontist can actually be making just as much or more than another one who owns multiple or big offices that have high expenses and not as much profit to justify it!
Hi dr, for case 1# how did the incisors intrude so much :)
Hello! I would have to do a superimposition to see exactly how much true intrusion there was but we did do a step up bend in the wire during space closure due to the bite deepening. Great question!
@@OrthodontistJenny niceee, looking forward to more orthodontics videos!! ☺
