So glad you and your grandma will have some nice time together. It would be neat to see the house you are working on before and after. Thanks so much for the neat video and cool paper art. Always fun!
I'm sorry your grandmother is not well. I am sure your visits will cheer her up. Thanks for the shout out! Only 7 days for a review 😆 the folks at PR are probably frustrated about how long my reviews take.
One of the reasons I enjoy your reviews so much, Lindsay, is that you take your time to really test them out thoroughly. I felt a bit rushed here, but trying the paints on three different paper surfaces sure was fun! Thank you for the well-wishes. ❤️
I’m so sorry that your grandma is going through that. I totally understand that need to be with her during this time. Spend all the time you need! We went through that with my hubby’s mom, eventually moved her into our house when she became a candidate for hospice. I won’t say it was easy but it was worth it. Praying for you and your grandma.
I appreciate this video! I had thought about buying these so thanks for the review! Love the paint on the black paper! Please enjoy time with your Grandma - we will be here and family always comes first!
Spending time with your grandma sounds like a very sensible idea. I hope she is ok and that you with both have some quality visits together. ❤️ Pretty paint set, they looked really great on the black paper too! Fascinating scrunchy paper technique.
Hello Miranda, I l9ved the bloopers and puppies. I liked your first two paintings. The one on black paper was really cool. I hope you get some good quality time with your grandma. Life comes before RUclips. Take all the time you need with your grandma.
It’s great that you will spend time with your grandma…it really is precious time. My own grandparents passed long ago and my parents, my dad in 2001 & my mom, that I miss soooo much, 😪 passed in 2012. As we age, time spent with our parents and grandparents becomes really special. I hope your grandma gets better, but the most important thing is the time you can spend with her. ❤️
I'm glad you mentioned you had tried these. I was very curious about them. They seem very similar to the opaque watercolors that I just tried. Very interesting! Thank you for sharing.
Hi Miranda. First of all, a gently hug for you, your family and your grandmother. As others have said, she is far more important than we are, and we know how much she means to you, so that's one worry to cross off your list. Has someone said to you that you aren't a good reviewer? For sure, I can't work out why you think so, because I thoroughly enjoy your reviews and find them useful! You talk about the the products as you use them, you tell us your impressions, you express your concerns, and you actually do full paintings with them. That gives us masses of useful information in your own special way, which means that we can trust you and we will remember what you've said, because it's come straight from your heart. I'm not allowing myself to be tempted, even though these paints and that black paper were waving to me and saying, "Look how beautifully we work together!" My current 'No Buy Except to Replace" will have to continue well into next year! But I'll be fine ... Also, I loved the the way you used the scrunched paper and how that one turned out. I haven't seen that before! Thank you! Go carefully, my art-loving friend, and enjoy your time with your grandmother while you can.
Thanks so much for another wonderful review, Miranda. It's so helpful to see these supplies being used. I'm so sorry to hear that your grandmother's health is declining. From things you've mentioned before, it seems like she shares your creative spirit.🤗🤗🤗🤗
Wowsers that is sooooo beautiful on the black paper!!! By the way I can't wait to see that sketchbook look through!!👍👍👍😝👋👋😄I pray Gramma gets back to a healthy gram gram!! Stay safe and healthy, give grammar a cheek kiss 💋!
Hahnemuhle is very soft paper and rips easily, I tried Expressions line and I heard of another line ripping with tape too. I also had cold pressed and while it seems smooth it has sort of deep compressed grooves. It's different than other papers. Maybe using hairdryer would help with removing the tape.
The packaging really is stunning. I loved the Viridian. I’m sorry to hear about your ailing grandmother, but so glad you’re taking the time to be with her. Thank you for the review, I’d never really heard of these before!
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. You're so right to spend more time with her. We understand! So glad you tried the black watercolor paper finally! Great to know it is so nice to paint on. I have some in a cart... The listing for this set of paints says: Notice 1.A small amount of oozing out of the pigments after opening is a normal phenomenon. 2.It is normal for the paint to have a slight smell
Thanks, Jenn. Yes I read that on the listing as well. I meant to mention it in the video, but it's hard to remember everything and Mei the video to a good length. 😉
You did a wonderful job with this review, Miranda!! I like to watch other people's reviews after I make my own, so I can go in fresh! Lol I had to respectfully decline this set, as I was afraid I would not like them. I had seen Kimberly Crick's video, luckily it came out long before this set came to the USA. You made the paints look beautiful and made me start to wonder if I should have tried them. Lol I don't like watercolors that crack, but the gold and violets of this set were pretty! After watching I'm curious how these compare with the new Opaque Watercolors? I agree 100% on the Legion Black Watercolor paper, it's amazing! And I'm glad I'm not alone on the Hahnemuhle sketchbook, too. Sending hugs and prayers for your grandmother!
Thank you, Stephanie! I was also worried after watching Kimberly's video, but Lindsay's gave me some hope, and I really enjoyed playing with this set of paints. I'd actually like to try them again on even more paper surfaces. There's plenty of paint in the set, so I'm not afraid of experimenting with it. 👍
Wow, that was really a journey with that masa paper - I've never heard of that before, and certainly haven't seen that process. It reminds me of mounting sumi/rice paper - they soak it in wheat flour paste, and then smooth it to a backing... and it rips like wet toilet paper if you do it wrong. I wonder if you got it a little too soaked and wrang it out a bit hard. I like the fish! Although I would say this paper is more suited to using a brush and ink for linework.
This paint would need a bit of experiment, but you did really good paintings with them. I hope your grandmother will get better soon. Take your time to take good care of her.
I love the painting on the Masa paper! It's kind of ethereal. I would try it but I know it would result in disaster. If you decide you don't like Hahnemuhle sketch books I know an aging hippie who would buy 1 or 2. Do 1 brief video a month here to keeps us up to date. Spend as much time as you can with your grandmother. It's way more important. I'll willing to put money on the fact we'll be here patiently waiting.
Oh my goodness!!! Puppies!!! Are they blue heels? Are they your puppies (was your dog one of the parents?). Either way too much cuteness I just wasnt prepared for it lol. Have a great day
GASP about the book!!! Only just started watching but that is a real bummer! Wait did it separate in connection with tape removal? The smoothness is because they are targeting this book at urban sketchers, so yeah, it doesn't have the lovely rough texture that helps the paint spread so well. But if you feel it vs. actual hot press you'll see it is not that smooth and it paints so much better. I love how much water the paper takes and how it doesn't warp! But yes I hate what happens with tape. Even low tack tape is tricky. So.... I've just been painting without tape. It's just better that way. My next book will be fruit studies so.... no big deal about using no tape. I also thing the sizing is a bit weird when you paint wet on wet. And I do think it's inconsistent. I've gotten a few resistant spots too, but honestly I have had that on ALL papers once in a while! I haven't had any binding problems yet; it looks like your first signature got loose from the others. Sadness :(
@@MirandaWatsonArt Hopefully not all the books are like that. I got my first washi tape recently and it's very very low tack, I think it's fine with this paper. But yes, maybe be very careful about putting tape down the center of the page.
So glad you and your grandma will have some nice time together. It would be neat to see the house you are working on before and after. Thanks so much for the neat video and cool paper art. Always fun!
I did think about trying to show the house to you guys. Maybe I'll stick it at the end of the videos with the puppies.
I'm sorry your grandmother is not well. I am sure your visits will cheer her up.
Thanks for the shout out! Only 7 days for a review 😆 the folks at PR are probably frustrated about how long my reviews take.
Right?!? You and me both, I need a month or two...or more! I'm so surprised they had a time limit.

I’m sending healing vibes to your Grandma. I lost both of my grandmothers over 15 years ago and I wish I’d had more time with each of them.
Thank you, Phyllis. ❤️

I definitely squeezed the water out quite aggressively; I'm surprised it didn't rip more, lol. It was fun to try though!

It is just the first signature that is slightly separated. I think the rest will be okay. Good heads-up about the tape. Thanks.

“Gucai”?…hmmm, wondering if that is how PR translates “gouache?”
I do believe you could make a good argument for that!
Learnt from a comment in Lindsay review that Gu-Tsai ( gucai) means ancient colour.
You need to adjust to life. Prayers for your gran.
