Now I'm 47 and I have big watch collection from chinese frankens to Omegas and I still have my old SK in perfect condition. BTW this SK was not as cheap those days as it is today. I've liked this watch since the first time I seen it on the long Island watch channel, but I also realise it's very far from being a watch for everyone. For reasons I can't quite figure out I also really like a cheap bracelet and so that won't bother me. I'm also in the very privileged position of owning a couple of dozen watches or so. This means that I can add pieces that are a bit less conventional coz I have all the more conservative stuff largely covered. So love it or hate it, at least it's not boring and that's got to be worth something.

This one is maybe not as good looking as some of the others you mentioned, but to be honest I don't think Orient make the best looking watches. They are solid everyday workhorses, but they should steal some of the designers from Seiko to make them look a bit sharper.

No. The original is more round, has more colors, has a plexiglass crystal, and is very different than this Revival/Reissue of the same name. The original was very 70's. Brassy Metal Points. Internal Bezel that rotates with a knob. The colors of the original were Green, Purple, and Red (sort of orange).

  • @H0kram
    @H0kram 3 года назад

That's definitely the type of watch that needs the price of a new bracelet to be added to its original price, before deciding to pull the trigger on it.
That, and the somewhat meh 5 bars water resistance for a diver putted aside ( which will be enough for practically everyone watching this BUT, I feel you mate, that's no diver ), I think it's a pretty cool funky looking watch !
Takes some confidence to wear that piece, but it's well put together. It's different than 90% of what's out there in that price range, and yet doesn't look like something an entilted art student would come up have come up with, to try hard to be different.
I can see the work, I can see the appeal.

Epson on back dial means epson movt? and the way you review is amazing one. keep going brother. Best wishes from India. I agree there are franken watches in India a lot but i havent encountered any yet may be due to my good observations skills gifted to me by Lord Shree Ram jee

Like yourself, I have a soft spot for Orient, and like yourself I think they too often miss the mark completely. Hopefully they read RUclips reviews..., but I doubt it, given their 'ancient website' (sooo true)
Keep up the good work. And tell Orient, one way or another, they should let go of the date on most of their watches

It is an odd watch. I both don't like it, but find it appealing at the same time. The color scheme reminds me of the colors of the Kingdom of Baron from Final Fantasy IV.

TOB, I found the design very attractive. I am willing to spend 100-200ish on that design but for sure not the quality of that watch.

I think the case and the funky interior bezel are real cool, shame about everything else. The face is so busy, and the purple has not been integrated well in my opinion, maybe it looks better in person. Shame about the cheapo bracelet too.

While this is a very busy and flashy watch, I kind of like it. Not enough to buy it, mind you - for the money I'd rather have a Kamasu - but I think it has its own charm. I also think the Seiko Recraft SNKM97 is a similarly big, flashy watch done with a much more cohesive design - that one I did buy.

Great video Ben! I hope once covid ends you go back to your old haircut, a crew cut or a caesar maybe... You looked much better with longer hair

Ben, why don't you apply as a consultant at Orient's? They can sure use one, imho, to stay tuned on what's trending over here and even in the rest of the world.
Like yourself, I like symmetry on my watches: Orient made a small second Bambino with date and an open heart Bambino without date (in their last generation). So they did all this effort, I mean they have everything in place to do so, and yet the most obvious iteration (a no date Bambino) is nowhere to be seen.

I like the design, but it's way too thick, and that folded bracelet is a real letdown at that price. It's a shame, cause otherwise it would've been an interesting alternative to all the other divers with common shapes that are all around the market.

i like it actually. i don't care much for watch literature so it doesn't bother me. but i'm gunning for a gen 1 seiko monster so i'm not looking to acquire one at the moment.

Just seen the hour long interview with the two american guys. Have to say you came across really well. I learnt a lot about your mission. You do credit to Stoke-on-Trent.

Orient sometimes comes out with something completely puzzling, and this is one case. And yes, they must put together their naming convention, and make a better website. Sometimes it looks like they cannot stand their own success, and they are trying to do everything they can to discourage buyers. To no avail.

It is a really accurate reissue, except for the water resistance; for fans who want a better movement. The bracelets were tinny, jangly things back in the day Not for me, but if they did some of the other colours (green and gold) I'd think about it.
