PSA: the majority of the weight reduction here comes from switching to a AAA lithium instead of a AA alkaline battery, the whole printing process only saved another ~7 gramsm
He could have shaved another 5 grams by removing the battery holder. The top shell could be modified too to reduce even more. In general he could have removed another 7-8 grams
Man, you have the best taste for music ever. I felt like I was watching a romantic movie, not a single ad to interupt my emotion, such a gem in the modern youtube.
Holy shit, this is easily the best-looking honeycomb G305 I've ever seen. I'm a huge newbie when it comes to 3D printing, and I'm not going to be printing myself, but asking a 3D printing service to print the parts for me, so I wanted to ask: what filament/material did you use for these parts, what settings, what's the spray paint you used later on etc? I'd love for the parts I get to come out looking like yours.
I didn't use filament because I used DLP printer with UV resin. But you can print with a typical 3D printer with PLA filament.(But you have to work harder on sandpaper.) Spray paint that I used "Mr. FINISHING SURFACER 1500 Black" by Mr.Hobby. Thank you for watching my video. ;3
@@blitzlab.7597 Hmm, I might have to look into getting parts in resin, since I saw another guy who also used resin to make the battery cover for a G305, and resin seems to look a lot better than PLA. Also, thanks for the information, much appreciated!
@@blitzlab.7597 Excuse me, I have another question, and thought this would potentially be the best place. So, I got the honeycomb m1 and m2 buttons from your STL files on Thingiverse printed out, and I tried putting them on my mouse, but they don't go on at all. The tension spring mechanism right next to the mouse clicks doesn't let the mouse clicks go on, because the support bit under the mouse buttons doesn't have a hollow hole where the tension spring mechanism needs to go into. I also attached a picture of the problem I have: i.imgur.com/nm2DeTz.png How did you manage to put the mouse buttons on without having a hollow hole in that bit there? Mine just don't go on at all.
@@blitzlab.7597 Huh, I thought that might've been it, since there was no way to fit it with the tension spring in. How do the buttons feel without the tension spring? Does the tension spring affect the feel of the mouse buttons at all?
Awesome vid. I was looking for a clip on modding mine but I didn't want to get into messing with the BCB just yet ( I don't want to mess with a 50 dollar mouse) . I wanted to find a print that works well too. thanks.
I bought a $8 wireless mouse and do some weight reduction mod in it, and now i have 50g wireless mouse complete with RGB and orginal battery (lithium like in phones).
Mine comes at just 85g with the spring and AAA. So not entirely sure if wasting the cost of mice (as buying 3D printed shell is more or less 30-40$) for 7g is really worth it. But great video nonetheless.
how did you smooth it out, is that boiling water you used, 100% acetone, or boiling water with acetone droplets. Since I don't have that, can I just sand it, spray with it a tiny bit of acetone, rub it with paper, sand it more, and then spray paint it.
Hi, this is simply one of the best G305 mod I have ever seen.I'm also new to 3D printing, I'm looking forward to print this for my mouse. But how did you make the stabilizer for the honeycomb battery cover and the honeycomb left and right buttons?
@@clmnt8379 Oh, I see what you're saying. What you said was a "stabilizer" is a "supporter." I used a program called Chitubox, but people also use Messmixer a lot.
i managed to reduce the weight of my G304 from 99g to 73g by just changing to honeycomb battery cover, AAA Batts and trimming some useless plastic inside.
While it looks cool, the weight savings does not appear to be that great. Going from a AA alkaline to a AAA lithium w/a spring gets you about 15 g in reduction, so that would walk you from 99g to 84g by itself. Going through all the time/effort to 3D print just to save another 6g seems somewhat pointless when going all in on a cell battery mod would likely be easier and result in more weight savings.
The best ending ever. was about to cry. reminded me of a classic Disney film outro. Hahah and the music fitted like a charm
hahahahahahahahahaha lol
Yeah same hehehe
