- Welcome to the wonderful Rio Dulce, an extraordinary river in Guatemala!
Did you know that the movie “The New Adventures of Tarzan” was entirely filmed here in 1935? The beautiful rainforest you see in the movie is hidden in Guatemala and still well-preserved. To get a good shot of the forest they had to use some locations using the railroad service in Guatemala.
It is a spectacular place rich with flora and fauna, great views, folklore, beaches, and traditional locals. Being so breath-taking, many people call it the jewel of the Guatemalan Caribbean. A great place where you can spend the most peaceful time with the family.
Being a part of a lake and river system known as the department of Izabal, it is a great sailboat cruising destination. Rio Dulce flows out of the Lake Izabal and is soon spanned by one of the biggest bridges in Central America.
On one side of the bridge is the town El Relleno and a nearby orphanage Casa Guatemala that provides children with education and nourishment. On the other side is the town of Fronteras. It is considered to be the center of Rio Dulce, sometimes called by the same name, and many people arrive by canoes to visit the town because it contains a local vegetable market.

Love your video, I haven't seen the others but they probably go the same way, without any paranoia and you have three kids with you, unlike some other channels which names I don't want to mention, because I don't want to promote them. Let's just say they are couples that promote "the van life" they are currently in Guatemala, really sad the drama they are trying to pull.

Beautiful! Just beautiful! My mother was born in Rio Dulce Guatemala, and I was also born there. Now I live in the USA, and am studying medicine and hope to go back and put a small clinic in Rio Dulce. It’s great that you are teaching your children to have a great outlook of Central America.

My kids are 3 and 5 and my husband and I just started traveling with them 2 years ago, we’ve visited 16 countries and 14 were European lol we’re so excited to explore south and Central America though, just waiting til our youngest has more of his vaccines! We leave for 6 weeks next weekend, again in Europe but this time to Greece and a few other places! Love what you all are doing and must add, mama is stunning!!

Congratulations on another great video! I’m glad you liked Rio Dulce, one of my favorite vacation spots in Guatemala. It’s a wonderful destination filled with wildlife, natural wonders and rich history. Castillo de San Felipe de Lara was used by the Spanish to defend against the British sponsored pirates. The British Empire had a huge influence in the area establishing illegal settlements of slaves, brought from places like Jamaica and Bermuda (actions that today would be considered crimes against humanity), in the northern Caribbean coast of Guatemala displacing the local Maya population. This explains why Belize is the only English speaking part of Central America. Many of these slaves latter escaped and established wonderful Garifuna communities like Livingston where they could live in freedom and peace. As a result of a recent consultation and popular vote, both Guatemala and Belize have agreed to take their territorial and maritime dispute to the International Court of Justice for final resolution.
Hope you had a chance to visit the manatee reserve, the natural caves, the hot water springs and the Siete Altares river near Livingston. By the way, Livingston is named after an American jurist not the British explorer.

I was born in Chahal, Alta Verapaz. My parents moved to BC Canada in 1983. I’ve been back to 🇬🇹 on several occasions. The last time I went there was back in 2019!
Unfortunately due to covid19 I haven’t been able to return. Hoping soon.
