I met John at the beginning of the Images & Words tour in 1992 and after all the success, fame and accolades that have followed, he still seems to be the same down-to-earth guy who loves making music, genuinely appreciates his fans, acknowledges his heroes and speaks from the heart with no ego b.s. No wonder he’s so revered; it’s not just his otherworldly chops - he’s still one of us.
There have been amazing guitarists who begin well, reach the heights and then fall flat (pun intended) but very few begin well, reach the heights and keep soaring...John Petrucci is one of those few good men A gifted man loyal to his family and his craft. Grateful for you Sir Petrucci🙏🏾
Great interview. Was lucky enough to see DT in Glasgow in February and John, and everyone else, were so good. Looking forward to hearing the new album and also to seeing more of these interviews on the prog report.
Petrucci is a class act! Regarding albums, I’ll stream most music these days but will buy physical copies of the albums I really like just to support the artist and look at the package. It’s nice when some bands still put some emphasis on the package and liner notes but I realize that comes with a cost and is not a priority. Anyway its really all about the music anyway, but you guys knew that already! ;-)
Have you guys thought about the possibility of Portnoy playing the 20th anniversary of SDOIT??? Now that they’re playing together again and possibly playing LTE shows in the future, I don’t see why that couldn’t be a possibility. I’m a fan of Mangini but that album was the best of Portnoy.
Why didn't you ask him, if DT would ever consider playing The Best of Times live? Or at least in a Medley, so he could play the solo.... Opportunity wasted
@@progreport That's why I thought they might at least play the solo part in some kind of prepared medley like they had it during 2008 era with Schmidley Wildcox. But then again, they played Space Dye-Vest and The Shattered Fortress which were also Moore's and Portnoy's song, so I'm still optimistic, that one they they might

Every interview I've ever seen of him, dude always comes across likable and warm hearted.

Just to add to the comments already mentioned, John is such a humble guy and so cool that Portnoy is a part of this as well
Petrucci is such a cool dude. Great interview!
I always knew John likes Mike's hit hat and cymbals accents, who doesn't.. lol it's just like what John said, like candy to the ear
I just hope he plays an 8 string guitar on next DT album
Master it's always good to listen to you.

Is he playing, "Glasgow" kiss?
Fluff Dude No Glasgow Kiss. All of Scenes from a Memory and a lot of Distance over Time. Very enjoyable experience.
Amazing interview! John Petrucci is a real legend!

Great interview! Thank you!
John and Mike ... don’t now.. it just is some kind of magic in the sound 🥰
Maybe there is time now to start Rock Discipline 2
With a bonus DVD on how to workout in the gym, food and BBQ for gainz
Rock and physical discipline
HELL YEAH!!
I was hoping that "Zero Tolerance" would be in this Album. I guess that one song from the G3 tour won't be ever released or played again.

@Lorilee Myers completely agree .
10 more days! I can't wait!!! (:
28th August, that's two days after my birthday. I guess I know what I'm gonna gift to myself!
oscarcr80 - He’s trying to have a HAPPY birthday.
Great interview. The single is so good and the zombie song at G3 gets me really hyped.
JP the living legend..
Good to see your face Roie! I always imagined you with wild hair and beard and massive glasses before 😄
Lots of love for Petrucci, can't wait to hear the new album.
LOL, sorry to ruin the image :)
John es el mejor.
Great interview, but the outro is high as motherfukk in volume.
rip our hearts out and feed the dragons !
Any talented guitarist can play John Petrucci songs, but NOT just anyone composes that way ...
Anyone else extremely jealous of Roie’s cd collection?
lol
Could you spot any interesting titles?
Christopher Santana no I couldn’t lol
The outro made me deaf. Thanks guys!
Ahh so Cloud Ten is called Happy Song most likely

They're not likely to play a song about Portnoy's dad without him being in the band.

No question about LTE? How disappointing...
I never liked the “under a glas moon” solo. “Peruvian skies” and “voices” are his best
How’s life on your private island?
@@crusheverything4449 lol
Oi John, we both know you want the right Mike back in the band. *wink*
