Here's some pro tips from someone who's been playing this game since the beta!
1. Gather as much food from apple barrels, and bushes as you can! Food taming is the easiest(and cheapest if you don't buy the food) way to tame!
2. Sneak while food taming! Or you'll scare the horses and can't tame them until they calm down!
3. The rarer the food the easier the tame! Certain species also prefer rarer foods too!
4. Sell the wild horses you catch! if you aren't immediately in love with a horse, it's better to sell them!
5. Train by riding your horse! Increase strength by having them harvest which makes them harvest faster, increase stamina by galloping, and jump logs and jumps to improve jump! Breeding is also a skill that you can raise up by breeding the same horses and it decreases breeding times!
6. You can shorten the length of pregnancies with food!

Hi. So I've been playing for about two weeks.
Firstly in order to food tame, you'll need to be off of your horse and you'll need to sneak to the horse. On the computer or laptop you do this by clicking "C". And make sure you've got some food available and selected.
In terms of training:
By just moving, so by trotting/ cantering or galloping on a horse you increase Agility. I've got a horse who's maxed this skill and he can gallop very fast.
By Jumping a lot, you increase the jumping skill. It'll help your horses to jump higher.
By Harvesting rocks, wood, food or anything that can be harvested you increase your horses strength. This makes your horses able to harvest things quicker.
By breeding your horses you increases the breeding skill which means less waiting time, if waiting for a foal.
I honestly suggest you harvest more than getting lassoes. Lassoes cost coins and can be quite expensive. It costs nothing to harvest food from plants.
At the moment there is an event. How it works is once an hour, a totem will spawn. To take part in the boss fight, you'll need unwanted horses (I suggest you favourite all the horses you like so you don't accidentally donate them). You can donate coins to the totem as well but the coins increase your odds of getting good items a lot less than unwanted horses. So this is why I suggest you get as many unwanted horses as you can to donate the totem. After about 4 minutes of the totem spawning, the boss will spawn. For the boss you'll be needing a lot of lassoes. Any will do so I suggest the cheapest and least expensive. The bigger the group the easier the boss will be. Some boss battles take about 2 minutes. While others take about 20 minutes, depending on the size of the group. At the end of the boss fight you should be able to get food. You might get Lassoes, rare items. But of course everyone is hoping to get a Glow horse. The boss fight is the only way known way to get a glow horse. A glow horse is any horse with the glow mutation. Might be the hair or a pattern that's glowing but it's glowing. But then there's more than the glow this boss gives out. If you get a horse I suggest you always keep it to begin with, have a look and then sell it after if you don't like it. The reason why is because the boss sometimes gives more than one horse and that second horse you're not seeing could have the glow so if you delete all the horses the boss is giving you you might also delete the glow horse. Also I hate a look at the spirit buff which has 10% in all skills which isn't that bad. But there's another buff the boss gives called Deity. If you get Deity I suggest you keep it. Deity is +10% to damage to foragables, jump height and +100% stamina. Deity is also quite rare. I should know because I've been going up against this boss all week and only got one horse with the deity buff. So if you get the deity buff I suggest you keep it. A lot of others might tell you to sell it or get rit of it but after one week I've gotten 2 glow horses and only 1 deity so I think any horse with that buff is special and I suggest you keep it. I hope that helped.
Also, there are many species in this game. It's not just the horse or pony. And any horse you see in the wild has a chance of having wings. They're challenging to find but not impossible. I should know. In my time playing the game so far, I've captured 9 but then I've been sick so I've have a lot of time to just look around. You might think that you might never find a winged horse...and then while randomly collecting unwanted horses for the totem or selling off your captured horse to get coins, a winged horse might suddenly appear right in front of you. And yes, horses in this game can fly.
Also tomorrow on Saturday there's a new type of horse coming out called the kelpie.
Another tip I'll give is before going to the Caprine area, make sure you have a few Vibrant Lassos on you. Caprines love to give chase and and send the player off of their horse. But with a Vibrant Lasso you can turn the tables. Keep your eyes open because a Caprine can start chasing you at any time. As soon as you see a Caprine chase you, use your Lasso on it and then watch it go from chasing you menacingly to running away as fast as it can.

Also I have tips..
:Collect Apples, Green apples, Pink apples. You obtain them from apple barrels.
:Complete your journal, completing our journal means you can collect each species of that horse. I recommend selling gargs or unicorns at the market realm.
:Catching horses then selling them. I don't recommend a torn lasso, they only give u 1 heart. While the woven gives u 3 and its less time consuming..
:How to catch horses with food? You may ask, You need to equip the food and then crouch and press feed to a wild horse.
:Catching Winged horses. Catching winged horses are lucky?? I'd catch a lot if I had seen them.
:Tip: Leveling up ur horses, Agility, Jumping, Strength, etc-. For agility just gallop around with ur horse. For Jumping. Just jump over obstacles. For strength. Collecting wood,stone,food,etc gives you're horse strength..

Also, you need to crouch to food tame horses!!!

You can feed your horses selecting food from your bookbag/inventory and use it to skip breeding or gestation time. Not your horse inventory but the other one. You can also tame horses with that food in your inventory. Makes easier to breed and collect horses without spending so much! You can also do boss fights when you unlock them to get tons of free goodies and even free horses that can glow. Also make sure to just click a collectable once and let the horse do its job. Make sure to upgrade how many horses you can have on you so it collects faster with more horses. You dont have to keep clicking it. I get off usually and let my horses collect around in an area then ill go around behind them and collect everything! Hope this helps!
You can make pink colored horses by breeding a salmon colored horse and a cotton or cream colored hores then tada its pink its a little chance dow

Btw when it said “oak” that is the name of the color not species the species is a horse also if it has a green horse under the gender symbol it’s an adult if it has a yellow horse under the gender symbol it’s a teen and if it has a purple horse under the gender symbol it’s a baby and to grow a baby up equip it and just leave it you don’t have to do tasks to grow it up
