In Windows 11 you have to select either Details Pane or Preview Pane. You cannot unselect both. To unselect one, you have to select the other.

I could not drag-and-drop or open any file that was a .docx or .xlsx. pdf and image files worked fine. It was a total pain to try and select a file to open or drag-and-drop... the Windows 11 File Explorer window would just go out to lunch! Opening Task Manager, the CPU usage for File Explorer was sky high and the status NOT RESPONDING... All due to the Details Plane (2:00 Minute Mark) being selected!!!!!! Thanks for the solution!

My task managewr doesn't haver file but, the stop Explorer.exe and a restart fixed it, had too many usb drives running at once, Microsoft 11 does not like that....

No! There’s nothing to worry about. I have a perfect antivirus and vpn and such and this just happens out of nowhere for me sometimes and the easiest fix for me is just restarting my computer
