Air China Business Class - What's it really like?

  • Beijing to Sydney in business class with Air China. What's it really like?
On this flight review I show the full Air China business class experience from the Air China business class lounge through to boarding the Boeing 777 and then the onboard Air China business class experience. This included the inflight meals, entertainment system, the Air China business class seat which converts into a fully flat bed, the amenities provided and the views out the window. Those views included us flying the full length of the Great Barrier Reef as we flew down the Queensland coast.
This flight was the second leg of my journey from London Heathrow to Sydney Australia with Air China. The first leg from Heathrow to Beijing was disappointing, it was on an old A330, so I was hoping for a better experience this time.
Join me and we'll see what it was really like.
Here’s the link I mentioned in the video:
Air China A330 Business Class: • Air China Disappoints ...
Route: Beijing Capital Airport, China (PEK) to Sydney Australia (SYD)
    Length: 5,576 miles, 9:48 hrs
    Flight: CA173 Seat 15A
    Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER registration B-1282 (Aug 2018)
    When: 25 Nov 2019

I think that airport in Beijing always is terrible cold. You need to wear a jacket or almost winter clothes.

Nice video - and commentary - the audio could use more restraint though. It's bad enough music - does it have to be so loud in the mix (vs your voice)?
That said, my experience of the Business Class lounge in PEK was equally satisfactory, as well as all my flights to and from PEK on Air China (on brand new 777s or Dreamliners). I agree that the Chinese menu is far superior - out of PEK, it's the best I've had on any airline except 1st class ANA (that's just unbeatable). The Air China cabin crew are exceedingly well trained; they are sweet and polite and speak excellent English - in Business Class at least - they could work at any 5 star hotel in the US or UK or Asia and do very well for themselves.

Cant agree more-stay away from Western options. I took 4 flights with Air China via Shanghai a year ago just before the closures. All Chinese meals were good except pork (too smelly), but spicy fish was just beyond fantastic. Just stay away from European options and pork, go for fish and chicken. Also try their 2min noodles as a snack-they are so good.

Taken way too long to get sorted March 2020 would have been better and UK wouldn’t have been in the state it’s in now. Best of luck with your business I hope it thrives this year with vaccine roll outs.
