I just keep getting blown away by the quality of Simon's videos. I didn't pay as much attention to the content as much I did to the little details like animations, floating images in the background, transitions, and sounds. If I do videos, they will either be of this quality or I wouldn't do it.
$1000 MRR is just THE number! Or 1000€ in our case, since our startup is based in Central Europe. We took 6 long months to reach that number, but when we hit it, we started to see amazing growth, 50% month-to-month. I always thought we took too much time to hit this target, but hearing you say the average SaaS startup takes 9 months kind of relieved me! Great content!
Amazing video, Simon. Investing in building a social media presence is still by best decision. Although I'm still struggling with it, I'm happy and grateful to have so much support from the community. Thanks and keep up the good works!
Thank you, Long! Super happy you liked it. You're doing a great job on building your audience on Twitter! Just keep at it, and it'll pay back with some crazy interests 😁🚀
Users to build your product WITH. Love this. What incentive did you offer those early closed chat users that helped you build it? What I love about "building in public" is that then I actually have to do what I said I was going to do! Awesome value in this video Simon 🙌👏
Thank you, Andre! Really happy you're getting value from this. The incentive was a lifetime on the platform for free - but mostly, people were just excited to be a part of the journey 😁
Very nice video Simon. I recently started watching and following you since I also have a SaaS idea. The 'scariest' part to me is how to handle the bookkeeping of running a business/startup. Any chance you'd cover this in one of your videos?
Thank you, Stephan! That's awesome to here that you're considering joining the SaaS club 😁 It's not a topic I normally talk about, but I'll definitely take your suggestion up for consideration. Thanks!
Simon, I follow you on Twitter and I just discovered your RUclips channel. I love it! Your content and insights are so valuable. I'm trying to "build in public" on Twitter and I have also started a RUclips channel. I enjoy it and as you said, consistency is the key here. Your video is awesome!
Hi, i have a special request,,,,, I've scrolled on RUclips for way too long and i really need a full detailed tutorial on this saas no code startups,,, maybe you could make a series please 🥺
Thanks for the video and all the content. I concur with the advantages of building in public. However, what's you take/suggestion when someone who is eager to build a product while still holding a day job with employment contract clause that prohibits working on other projects?
I find this very interesting, where does this fall in or apply to most software engineers that are naturally Introverts. How can engineers that what to be successful not have to turn to social media for everything ? I think there is a unique opportunity in this space
There could definitely be, yes! Though, I don't see why being an introvert is necessarily a blocker. Most of the developers I know (including some I mention in this video) are introverts, and they're killing it on social 🔥
Really great video as always. I can definitely understand why these strategies have done so well. I really like that you also showed what your product was like in the beginning, that it is better to ship something that is barely working than not shipping anything. I would like to live stream building a SaaS because it would help keep me motivated and show my audience what i am working on, however I am not sure how I can prevent showing sensitive information such as passwords. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you, Casper! Yes - I find it really refreshing when people show their very first versions of their products as well 😁 I've actually been considering something like this as well. If you can "plan" it a bit, you can use something like OBS and then add overlays to cover sensitive information. Alternatively, use temporary passwords/tokens/secrest while you're live, and change them after.
@@SimonHoiberg Thanks those are nice suggestions. I would love to see a live stream of how you build your product. Especially the most difficult stuff.
Smart thinking albeit the amount of time it will take you to build a social media presence that drives results equates to the amount of time it takes indie hackers to get their first 1 k month.
Luck is 0.0001% Hard work is 100% .... instead of waiting to get lucky, start working hard and get lucky.... Hard work and investing in yourself is the best investment ever. a fellow creator.....
Should I start everything from scratch when building in public or should I build part of the MVP? How are they going to see what I'm building is relevant?
I think you should start with a "slice" of your product. Yes, finding the most relevant slice can be challenging. This is why it's super important to talk to your users.
How would your advice change for niche B2B? In many such niche markets, there aren't going to be many passionate early users, and the buyers are very different from B2C users-who-are-also-buyers.
That's not true at all. You can easily find passionate early users in the B2B world. Take a look at AppSumo - that's basically their entire target group. We started out as B2BC (we still are, but more B2B at this point). Half of our early adopter's group were small business owners.
@@SimonHoiberg thanks for answering. I was thinking about bigger companies, not SMB. I guess there might still be some early adopter types there but maybe harder to find.
⚠ Warning at 5:50 definetly DON'T build your product based on what group of people say they like to have it. That's against user-centered design. You have to build product for users and yes with them but not with them on call telling you what they like and don't like but by proper user researches.
I was actually recovering from COVID when I shot this (that's why the voice is different). But I don't think the overall style of the video is very different from my other ones? Is it? 😊

Hi Simon, would love some videos on how you achieved Product Market Fit with FeedHive, and how you are achieving it with your new saas products

In Adobe After Efects 😊

what did you use to build the data visualisation tools on feedhive
