The alternative is to build a proper enclosure and use a small 1:1 isolation transformer and also incorporate a fuse for extra safety.
@@RJEDITALL Dear Sir, I like your particular circuit building style when it comes to low no lethal voltages, but in this case, there are lethal voltage levels involved at the input. It depends how confident you are that some novice will try your circuit and not accidentally electrocute themselves.

@@biot2156 it's diode mode. It measures voltage drop of diodes (led, zener etc). Which is kinda uneccesary since the multimeter already has a diode mode (but that mode can't measure zener diodes or leds over a certain voltage, usually 3,... volts)

Hello. Ran across your channel. Great projects with clear instructions. Can you do a project on the vape to reverse engineer it to be a smoke machine. There are few on RUclips that I tried but need a professional set up if you can. Thanks. (These are used for photography projects or Cosplay)
This is a really dangerous device, since all the parts are with AC-line voltage. You can protect yourself by using any quality RCD-protection with a setpoint of 10 mA. It is not 100% garantee of safe. As an engineer, I do not recommend circuits that are galvanically connected to the AC-line: transformer-free power supplies and autotransformers.
This circuit will provide an appropriate voltage to power a device below the mains voltage 120 V. WIll it shock you then? not sure ?? Dangerous to try??? But it can power an LED, 2 Leds, diodes They have testers that do this without risking getting shocked if one part failed.
I think this video is aimed at an electronics techie who repairs led light bulb, not for a novice, a techie would know to use an isolating transformer. its not for the everyday person to "try"

You say that the resistor in series with the main has a value of 470K (time 0.42). If this value is true and not a mistake, the current at the output is very very low and it is impossible to turn on a led, please check. Have a nice day

are you using a boost converter to up the 3 to 9 volts to 117v? the only thing the 9v battery will do is to allow you to test each individual led.

good job but i think its not damaged diode it was 4148 diode or same . reach to 0.4 to 0.7 volt forward and over than test voltage in reverse test

how about the rating on the HOT ac end since the dc portion is 120v
