This was so fun to watch! Super nice design albeit a little thick for me. Small red flag though is when the designer is at the table and no one knows lug to lug measurement? As an engineer after designing a part myself, especially if it’s passion project, I remember those measurements.. sus? Maybe nothing. Love the loom on that thing
@@JASONKENTJANA I mean, there’s a lot of less visually interesting watches selling for 10k+. Not to mention people willing to spend 30k, 50k, and more on an interesting watch for their collection. 3000 is little money for someone spending good money on a collectors watch. Besides, they never said it was a cheap watch, and I wouldn’t expect it after looking at that dial.
@@malaise92 I'm well aware with higher priced watches. The nominal price wouldn't be a problem on its own. The problem came when he said "affordable" and "without second thought". But the laptop manufacturer never said "anyone can buy this without second thought" Even Seiko at much lower price point never say something like that.
@@JASONKENTJANA I just don’t see the point in looking that far into it… He’s privileged, watch collectors are privileged too. If 3000 is not a lot for them, what are we going to do about it? Do you think they’re trying to pull off some type of scam?

Really love and appreciate this watch, I signed up for the notification on the project 1, but wasn’t in the position to buy one. I appreciate the goal of making an affordable watch, but what’s the point if they are unavailable? Amazing affordable watch, you can’t buy it 🤷♂️
A watch that generates an emotional response; it doesn’t intend to be a tool watch or horological wonder. Personally, that dial - I love it. And would buy it if available (especially the green lume run). Yes, slightly pricier now and cost-wise enters the territory of serious competition by established brands. But it’s an independent brand with a unique piece and limited numbers; hence the price - to me, it’s something different and would bring joy to look at. Isn’t that really the goal? Sign me up.
I often wondered if it is possible to create a futuristic mechanical watch, or if we will be for ever stuck with 50s/60s dive watches. Fortunately a future is possible, proven by Projekt 01 - Variant "B" - great watch guys!
I truly lusted after this Kollokium drop, and I understand Lume was a very big feature that they wanted to nail down, but that lack of pop of color with the seconds hand ruins the overall design for me. I really hope they knock it out of the park with the Variant C. Great video though!

Not only is not hard to make the structure of the dial, it would‘ve been easy to automate and manufacture from a single piece 70 years ago using electrical discharge machining for the pins. Any Watchmaker or Engineer worth their salt could have made this, long before Radium Lume was invented around 1910. even with all the pins as separate pieces, using the right jig and a press, a child could assemble the dial.
