well the dial 460+ parts seem quite an impossibility that was made possible through dedicated engineering
Try hand setting 400 unalike tiny pieces on a plate in a way that aligns with the technical drawing doesn‘t damage the ones you already set before. Then tell me when you‘re done.

This may be the most charming timepiece available today, and a massive breath of fresh air. Almost every new model these days looks like a middle-aged man driving to work, in traffic, with the light in his eyes completely extinguished. Many thanks to the three of you for giving us something that reawakens imagination.

@@JASONKENTJANA I mean, there’s a lot of less visually interesting watches selling for 10k+. Not to mention people willing to spend 30k, 50k, and more on an interesting watch for their collection. 3000 is little money for someone spending good money on a collectors watch.
Besides, they never said it was a cheap watch, and I wouldn’t expect it after looking at that dial.

The nominal price wouldn't be a problem on its own. The problem came when he said "affordable" and "without second thought".
Do you buy a $1500 laptop with a second thought? most likely yes. But the laptop manufacturer never said "anyone can buy this without second thought"
Even Seiko at much lower price point never say something like that.

Really love and appreciate this watch, I signed up for the notification on the project 1, but wasn’t in the position to buy one. I appreciate the goal of making an affordable watch, but what’s the point if they are unavailable? Amazing affordable watch, you can’t buy it 🤷♂️
$3000 usd isn't something you buy and not really think about like the guy said.

I truly lusted after this Kollokium drop, and I understand Lume was a very big feature that they wanted to nail down, but that lack of pop of color with the seconds hand ruins the overall design for me. I really hope they knock it out of the park with the Variant C. Great video though!
This was so fun to watch! Super nice design albeit a little thick for me. Small red flag though is when the designer is at the table and no one knows lug to lug measurement? As an engineer after designing a part myself, especially if it’s passion project, I remember those measurements.. sus? Maybe nothing. Love the loom on that thing

i appreciate that they're trying something creative. while i do think this watch needs precision in the build, i also feel that they've obviously inflated the complexity. other brands do it as well but these people seem more amateur in their speaking and marketing skill that it shows up easily in the video. cool watch at the end of the day but would have appreciated the creators being more candid. 🙏

Not only is not hard to make the structure of the dial, it would‘ve been easy to automate and manufacture from a single piece 70 years ago using electrical discharge machining for the pins. Any Watchmaker or Engineer worth their salt could have made this, long before Radium Lume was invented around 1910. even with all the pins as separate pieces, using the right jig and a press, a child could assemble the dial. Then again, the finish on the back of the dial is terrible, so who knows. Don‘t get me wrong, I like the look of it, it‘s just not that hard to manufacture.
Neat dial, that's literally all I find cool about this. But to act like that was impossible to machine until "nOw"...exaggeration. Not a single logical reason something like that couldn't have been made 50 years ago. A bit of fart sniffing going on.

It's $3,000USD "affordable" for watch collectors I can see that. But for regular people that's a lot.
It absolutely is, and since I show crazy expensive watches all the time, 3000 seemed affordable in the sense of the channel. Hope you understand.

@@reesebroekhoven3962 Thanks! Well, I am bored as well with seeing "Rolex" on my RUclips homepage every sigle day in thousands of different contexts so I try to freshne things up. Not easy of course, because most brands have no SEO supporting them especially on RUclips but the people who do watch, really love watches and are happy to discover something new like you say. And I also enjoy it more at the end.

I often wondered if it is possible to create a futuristic mechanical watch, or if we will be for ever stuck with 50s/60s dive watches. Fortunately a future is possible, proven by Projekt 01 - Variant "B" - great watch guys!

Well they financed it all themselves. First edition was family/friends, and the second was public and sold out fast...They'll increase production as they go, they just started.
