Megadeth riffs are made harder than most Metallica riffs on purpose. Dave thinks that he gets appreciation when he just rushes and makes as hard riffs as he can. Metallica riffs are way better sounding (I still like Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls etc. don't get me wrong) and more better produced. Still both great bands in their own ways, I just sometimes think that only thing Dave Mustaine wants is to beat Metallica, not to make music he likes.

Everything changed with the Black Album. It brought this genre of metal to the mainstream. For me, CD's with the accompanying Tab books accelerated my learning curve 1000% . Well to be fair the band was in a horrible state back in the early 2000's so the crap production values made sense due to their negative emotions.
