I just finished A Flicker In the Dark and I loved it! I really thought I knew who it was and was dead wrong 🤣🤣🤣 I listened to it on audio and it really kept my attention. I’ve also realized that I suck at guessing mysteries so there’s that lol
lol usually I’m not the best either. I’ve just been paying more attention to clues that I normally overlook. I can’t say it was a bad book, just not enough thrill or wow factor for me 😫

Just heard that there will be another holly gibney book coming out next year I'm happy about this even though some people don't like holly 8 am not one of them and it's so important to take time off when you feel like it
A Flicker in the Dark is under the wrong genre. That’s the biggest issue with this book, it’s labeled a Thriller , but it’s more of a Contemporary Mystery. Had others gone in the book knowing it was a contemporary book, they might have liked it. I dnf’d it because I couldn’t stop waiting to be thrilled and it never came. The writing was good and I’ll pick it up some other time.
Cracking up at “I couldn’t stop waiting to be thrilled”. I felt the same way. I completely agree that it leans more towards contemporary than a thriller. Marketing is key and they missed the mark with this one. I also agree that her writing wasn’t bad, which is why I couldn’t say it was a bad book. It just wasn’t what I was looking for.
I read Flicker in the Dark early this year and guessed the killer from the start but stuck through it to see how the truth would be revealed. Anticlimactic and just an okay read for me.
