    I get it bud! I have the same comments about how I’m wasting money on this rc stuff. All I can say is, “ different strokes for different folks!” I love these hobbies, especially upgrading, working on them, personalize them. It’s fun and beats sitting on the coach in front of a tv all day! Get outside and enjoy the outdoors! Good video! Very nice build. I enjoyed watching!

    Most of the fun in this hobby is to try to make your boat faster, stronger, handle better, etc. Never listen to the haters who tell you you're wasting your time or money. Whatever floats your boat - quite literally. Besides, most of the aluminum parts are dirt cheap anyway. I get more joy scratch building or modifying a lesser quality boat than buying something ready to go. Following you on your RC boat journey!

    I had good results with a 4519 prop on my last test run out. Still running the stock motor, but with a Flycolor 70A from a smaller boat. I got 42mph on 6S junk batteries and less than 120F temps all around! I really like the 3000mah 4S pack I got for it, but the boat really likes those lighter 3S ones wired in series. Also, just put a metal rudder on there (exact fit for $12) and reinforced the lid of the hull where they all flex and shatter. I used Shoe Goo and fiberglass mat and it should be pretty solid once it's cured up🦾 BG4L🚤💨

    • @OTWRC
      @OTWRC  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! I got rid of the thru-hull water pickup and used the pickup on the rudder ..used 4x6mm tubing here and a 6mm metal grommet to slide tubing through where it goes into the hull so it looks nice - you can just pull the tubing through the drilled hole without a grommet if you want. You can also use 4x7 diameter cooling tube which doesn’t kink as easily. Can find cooling tubes on Amazon, AliExpress, Offshore Electrics etc. 👍👍👍

      @@jamesstuarttolford1978 I’m not sure about installing your motor on the stock motor mount. If I remember correctly, the stock motor was attached to the cooling block that screwed into the mounts on hull, but it looks like this guy was able to separate motor from cooling block and mount a 28 or 29mm motor to it and reuse stock hull mounts ruclips.net/video/8vXIniMrbAE/видео.html ..you will lose self-righting feature switching from stock outrunner type motor to inrunner, tho 👍👍👍

      Woo, that's a super long runtime to shoot for! I would try a larger 3s battery, lower kv motor, and a smaller prop for max runtime, but it won't be anywhere near as fast or fun ..and I'm not even sure how much closer to a 45 min runtime that would get you 👍👍👍

    I got 65 out of my SR80 vector and smashed it I patched it up and put polyurethane 2 part foam up in under the deck all the way back almost to the motor it totally touches the floor and the deck and made it very strong now.
    I lost my self righting with the SSS 2200 kv so I am now running 5s 3300 100c HRB. And a 1850 kv out runner 100 amp 6 s capable and got my self right back it’s now running 471.4 m447 detongued and balanced octura it is fast but my gps is on the bottom of the lake so can’t check the speed the motor get to 58 Celsius so I need to add a fan to its rear.

    • @OTWRC
      @OTWRC  Год назад +2

      I would do a 90a flycolor esc, offshore electrics .130 flex cable with 4mm prop shaft, and a CNC prop same size or a mm or two larger than stock and run it on 4s. I ran mine all stock with exception of switching out the stock esc for a 90a flycolor and changing the prop to a CNC type over stock plastic and it was fun, but eventually the plastic motor mount broke, probably from self-righting it so many times - other have done just these upgrades before and have eventually broken the stock flex shaft. Upgrade esc, flex shaft, as prop 👍👍👍

    Ok, so I’ve got an arrow and I’m wanting it to be faster than what it is now. I understand everything other than how to upgrade the flex shaft/ stuffing tube. Also do you think this setup would be more of a reliable setup as far as motor temps on 5s?

    • @OTWRC
      @OTWRC  2 года назад

      Probably so, 5s with 38-42mm prop, something like that would prob be good (and faster than blue 1600kv on 6s). You can order a 4mm flex shaft with the stuffing tube and liner all together from AliExpress. Offshore electrics also sells shafts/tubes/liners - you could get a .150” flex shaft with 3/16” prop shaft on it and that would be fine ..zipkits sells these pre-made ad well for $19.99 (something like that), just remember you’re strut bore diameter needs to match whatever diameter shaft you’re going to use ..4mm 1 piece shaft needs a 4mm strut … .150” flex shaft with 3/16” prop shaft on the end will need a 3/16” strut 👍👍👍 ..I cut the shaft and tube to whatever length needed with a dremel.

      I'm pretty sure you'd need a new stuffing tube, especially if you're going to use the 4.76mm shaft with a liner, and the hole in transom where stuffing tube comes out would need to be made larger to accommodate the larger stuffing tube.
