The security doing that synchronized dance was honestly one of the best parts of this video!😂
My money is on the dancers that know how to shake it.
came here to say the same thing!!
Best performance of the day!
Yeiiiii love it! 😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤣

After being RickRolled a number of times, you just embrace Rick Astley
1987 me hated being Rick rolled , it wasn't cool . 2023 me respects his journey and I don't give a shit what people think ...lol
Totally !!
I've always liked him.
It would be funny if Rick worked with another artist to Rick roll the festival.
Hell yeah. I rickroll myself to death
Damn dude. The level of confort he displays. He's not only a singer but also an entertainer.
Unpopular opinion: Together forever > Never gonna give you up
That’s how artists from his era were. The whole package.
Rick is a G
If Aliens ask for our best tunes, this will definitely be on the list
Monster hit of 1987.
#1 in 25 nations.
Danced worldwide.
I love it!
After you get rickrolled for more than 100 times,You know you love this song
Rick is just a cool guy
Yeah ikr RUclips:hey wanna watch Rick Astley - never gonna give you up live from Glastonbury? Me: um…yes why not
im 32 and liked this song before it was rick roll
When you like the song its a fabulous experience every time.
@@Bacon_Estea Heard him playing drums? Not his FIRST rodeo, I tell you....
What is Rick roll anyway it just fkng song
People use the phrase “aged like wine” loosely but this guy is the best example. This song is almost FOUR DECADES old and his voice still sounds amazing if not better.
Smooth, comes to mind.
He's awesome...proper bloke not a dickhead like most of the "stars"
Rick Astley himself, aged like fine wine, as well
I can only agree
Rick Astley forever and ever
Rick is wild...the man has gone full circle from pop icon to joke meme to beloved singer in 40yrs.
his voice still SO GOOD
Massive respect for this man for introducing his band like that!
A classy man indeed!
I got teary eyed at that part! As a musician it touched my heartstrings his appreciation for each member of the band. With* solo artists like Rick people don't really look at the band and he made sure to give them a time to shine, what a gentleman.
@@TheLostAge well he knows without them he's just a singer.
The bassist fucking killed it too. What a performance.
A Queen solo ❤
That's the vibe we need nowadays. Cheerful, happy, joyful, respectful... AND INSTRUMENT SOLOS.
Love Rick’s generosity in allowing his musicians to SHINE! ✨
Agreed Brother, this is what the world needs. Was digging how security was dancing as well.....
this and more QOTSA
Yes🎉
The question is... what respect means and wher are its boundaries?
It took him a lot of years to get to Glastonbury, but once he got there he gave two of the greatest sets ever performed there. His own set was brilliant, but his set with the Blossoms singing the Smith's songs went into the stratosphere. Legend, indeed.
Rick didn’t let his guitarist play Sweet child o mine then he plays it a little at the end 😂 Perfectly orchestrated performance
I find it insane how CLEARLY the crowd sang those lines together... thousands of people in unison ❤️
Everyone from Boomers, to Gen X, and millenials have grown up with this song. We all know it by heart, no matter how old or young.
@@toadfan64 Exactly. Its so sweet 🥹
He probably thought so, too.
It's just a British thing. Musical education on another level compared to other European countries. You can hear that on football stadiums too.
With ease! And to perfection!
Can we take a second to appreciate how immaculate the mix is. The sound engineers deserve props!
Probably done afterwards with all tracks fully intact before processing through front-of-house. Yes, it absolutely still requires skills to mix it correctly, but I am fairly sure we are not looking at the exact live coverage, because there is a lot that can go wrong when mixing-for-television.
It’s shown “live” in fact with a good mix, probably a slight delay for getting it right, and censoring the odd f word in daytime
"Can we all just....?" NO. F*ck off.
They deserve an Oscar
I agree!! Man this deserves an MP3 Audio Edit. Full Song. without the extra fill ins. 0:00 to 03:58
Secret admission - as I kid I *loved* that song, because of Rick's deep voice. When it became a funny troll meme, I was like huh, whatever. But it is actually nice to see him taking this as a champ and actually getting into spotlight and doing it for real. And his voice has only got more interesting!
Bro rickrolled an entire festival, mad respect.
bruh shut up
😂
They came to be Rick rolled... willingly 😂
Yeah
@@visheshlpaid money for it too😅
Mad respect for this guy. He has talent, humility and kindness.

@@ollieejay Humility is just synonymous with humbleness.
@@elio.dalterio i thought humility was embarassing someone, no?
Is amazing seeing young and old people singing this song as one, Rick is absolutely timeless.
I'm not sure I would be able to do anything other than retire a song I wrote that became a meme. I massively respect Rick for just taking the ball and running with it. So much fun and makes me want to change my mindset about taking songwriting quite so seriously Keeping things fun! And letting his musicians have solos at Glastonbury. What a dude.
When you own the narrative...the joke...the punchline...you become untouchable.
Compared to someone like Vanilla Ice that should have stopped like 25 years ago...legend, indeed.
It's so cool that Rick Astley completely embraced his status as a meme icon and that has allowed him to continue performing for huge audiences long after he had a couple hits almost 40 years ago
It helps that he actually had talent if he couldn't sing then he couldn't have continued his career.
Can't drop a like on a magic number, but absolutely agreed. Fuck, I miss the old days of the web.
He got lucky by having a good meme. Not all memes are created equal. Some memes have destroyed people's lives.
@@joeybaseball7352his meme was just baiting people into his video. It was so inoffensive and he understood it and ran with it, another artist could've talked shit making it backfire.
Yeah, he didn't get all butthurt about it, he totally embraced it, what a chad, I love this guy, don't f around with Gen x
Rick seems seems to be enjoying performing more now than he ever did in the 80’s. Was a joy to see him perform. He’s aged terrifically and his voice is fabulous ❤
Looks great sounds great and love the solo he got out of the guitarist!
Oh yes ❤ 👍 🤘
Indeed!!!
I'll bet that he'll still be performing when he's in his 80's!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
These people were literally rickrolled not only live, but also by themselves.
It's amazing how he's embraced his old song, and he just makes it sound even better... that song is immortal now.
This is a man who walked away from millions upon millions of pounds because the industry weren’t allowing him to sing what he wanted to sing and he had the integrity to step away. He totally deserves this!
Why he left?
@@AmbivertFellowhe finally decided to run around and desert the industry
@@AmbivertFellowHe hated being a pop star, and just wanted to be home with his wife and kids. So he literally had the limo that was taking him to the airport turn around. Canceled the tour and spent the next many years being a house husband. Absolute Legend.
@@TheGotoGeek got something in my eye 🥲
God i bet he is so 'underrated' and 'humble'? Go on, steer into those fetishes...
Even in 2023, he sounds amazing
hes voice aged very well, he is now even more confortable
he sounds the same LOL
Some Tom Jones accents in there.
True words.
The classic never stops coming. This is the best live performance of "Never Gonna Give You Up!"
His voice just gets better and better!
Rick is so gracious. He’s not pretentious. The thing I noticed about this performance is he gives away everything to the audience and more importantly to the musicians/performers on the stage WITH him including the security and organizers. He’s such a class act. There are very few performers who do this.
He's a singer from another era, the artists from those times were built different
Agreed. He's a total class act. I have such a crush on the man! 🥰
@estebansoto9550 I have 2 words for you: Axl Rose. 2 more: Ozzy Osborne.
The time period is irrelevant, you're either a humble decent person or you're Axl Rose.
@@ginayoung130 Oh, I apologize if I didn't quite explain myself there. See, what I was saying, I mean it more about the talent they showcase on stage. Yes, both Osborne and Rose weren't the best people exactly, but both Osborne and Rose were amazing performers aswell (at least when they actually put some effort to it) I can name various unforgettable gigs from the Gun's even though I don't really like their music.
Those times, I feel like you had to be born with talent or put some serious effort to your music. Nowadays...not really.
@estebansoto9550 ahh okay, I do agree with you mostly. I definitely think most pop artists don't care to engage the audience and give them a great show. But I think a lot still do. Examples: Taylor Swift, Ethel Cain, Nothing but thieves and badflower (Both rock bands with great live performances), Hozier, Phoebe Bridgers, Noah Gundersen, even Miley Cyrus is a great singer and performer in my opinion
This entire set made me grin like an idiot. Massive respect to him.
Me too! Got tears in my eyes it's so good. Such an amazing vibe..
Same
Yeah, same thing here.
His voice is still so young 😭❤️
More like he was already rocking that 40+ year old voice as a 20-something
Rick Astley seems to be an epically great person, massive respect.
Everything about this performance is perfect. Just makes you happy to watch. Rick is a treasure
I love that "rickrolling" gave this guy a part-2 to his career. I really think he deserves it.
Edit: He absolutely KILLED this performance. What a dude!
Have I just been Rick rolled?
@@Andy-lm2zpnah you Rick Rolled yourself. Doesn’t count.
@@Andy-lm2zpyes you have been....MASSIVELY 😂
cringy at its best^^
I feel like people forget that he's an actual, trained, professional singer from the back then :)
The security crew dancing is one of the best things I've seen this year !!! Epic !!
for real you should be the top comment. amazing!
They're not security. There's big security fencing twenty feet back from the stage keeping fans back. They're just hand-picked as typically non-security types and they've been put in security t-shirts. If there was some serious security problems these people would be useless. But it's Rick Astley.
@@tangfastic7075false
@tangfastic7075 No, they are 100% from the security team, if they werent theyd have better rhythm 😉
Seguranças ou não, eles mostraram rostos, idade, diversidade, enfim. Vcs notaram as meninas dançando? Também assim.
Isso tudo é Glastonbury. Show de bola!!! 😍
Just see the amount of people who genuinely wanted to hear him . That's a massive crowd for a legend❤
He doesn't change 🙌
How has his voice gotten even better, gotta give him credit for not destroying his voice with drugs or alcohol
👏👏👏😍😍😍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
he took a hiatus for a couple decades before rick roll became a thing. saved his voice
iirc he did struggle against cocaine during the 90s but got clean
happiest blud from britain
@@munmunyee did he?
Really liked him back then, but honestly, of all the acts of the 80s, I didn't imagine then it'd be Rick Astley still getting crowds dancing what 35 years later ? Does put a smile on my face.
I have been to a couple of "Back to the 80s" shows here in Norway with tons of acts on the bill. Rick Astley and Nik Kershaw always stands out. A lot of the other ones seem to just ble standing and waiting for the 5 min on stage to be over. While Rick and Nik (no pun intended) always puts on a good show and seem genuinly happy to be there.
Too true.
It's because people have been Rick rolled so many times that you just have to embrace it.
I bought his album on cassette from Woolworths as a kid and in fact I still have it! Somewhere...
Love his voice..he needs to record more soul records
He always had a great voice, no auto crap, so much better than most nowadays... Miss those times when a singer was really a singer... And I'm not old!
I love it how even all the security guys are dancing.
They were probably told to. Lol.
Doesn't matter it they were paid extra to dance...they still were fun to watch
It was really cringeworthy to watch. It's like they were held at gunpoint.

This man let this meme cook for 15 years until it became a part of internet culture and then he finally performed live so that it wouldn't look like he was just trying to live off the meme. what legend.
Pretty sure he performed it live all the time. Just because that song is a banger
Rick is aging like fine wine! Such a talented singer 🤩
Dang, all these one-hit wonders from back-in-the-day turn out to be really talented musicians.
rick wanted to be a one hit wonder, he didnt wanna be on the road constantly and preferably liked living a small time life..... theres a docu about the origins of rick roll and if he even knew thats why he ended up still being famous to this day

@@TheDogGoesWoof69 in certain areas 🤧
When he would have been relegated to a casino act like many 80s pop singers, and humbly content with it... The rickroll phenomenon completely rejuvenated his career and solidified his legendary status.
It's the whole reason he gets to play Glastonbury 36 years after his massive debut. He was always gracious. In just working quietly in the studio, in getting to record, in having a big break, one superstardom, in his star waning, in playing smaller gigs and just getting to play with session musicians to intimate crowds for years...
Of course he received his resurgence warmly. Cuz he's a righteous dude. 🎉
Mr. Astley is so wholesome! He's elegant, not scandalous at all and above all, he's a bloody great performer! He owns this stage while staying graceful, truly a classy artist.
His voice is amazing !!
elegant is the best word to describe him
He came and played at our school to about 100 kids once
Wholesome 😂
He is so talented and classy indeed!
Awesome ❤ love this song.
We're in 2023 still going strong.
After all those years his voice hasn't changed.
This man is a pur legend. Embrassed the dark pass of its own and turned it into light. He could denial all of this if he would stay on his bad feeling.
I love how he embraces this and isn’t pretentious about it being his “big hit”. Some artists would block songs like this out of their memories.
This comment reminds of the time when I saw Toto back in 2019. They finished with Africa (obviously), and before they started playing Luke asked the audience "You wanna hear THAT song?"
it's a BANGER
@@Bassic92Hold The Line is better than Africa and gets no recognition
Then again... Nirvana intentionally playing Teen Spirit horribly is pretty funny

Probably - at least in part - because he did not just start out singing trying to be a frontman, he started out singing in a choir.
And in a choir, if it's any good, you learn things like you warm up your voice gradually first before trying to outsing a church (or a crowd).
(ETA: Incidentally, Bruce Springsteen mentioned somewhere that he doesn't have any proper vocal training but that that's exactly the reason why he will often come out on stage before the concert actually begins and sing just with an accoustic guitar for the people who have been waiting there for hours. If you do a workout, you stretch first. You do the same with your voice.)
