I can listen to Brian talk for hours he's a great communicator and speaks true to heart on whatever he talks about. It's hard not to be gravitated to someone like Brian. Great job!
It’s so easy to quit without even trying. One time I’d entered a 100 mile walking event. Trained for it, but when I was due to start my foot was hurting, thought I would not make it if it hurt that much at the start. However, it did not get any worse, and I just kept going check point to check point.
@@weedermann I was until recently a long distance Walker . Over 50 fifty mile events. Mainly with the L D W A. The best way to train for a 100 mile walk is to realise that it will take a long time. My fastest was 35 hrs, slowest 47+ only allowed 48 hrs. Time on your feet very important. Short walks during the week done at speed. Back to back long walks at weekend. I think once you can do back to back 25 mile walks you should be OK for 100. Practice walking at night. I alway got Nauseated night time walking, think due to headlamp. Oh! Realise that your mood will change. Just because your going through a rough patch at 30 miles does not been you won’t feel good at 70 mile Mark.
I love cold tubs! I have a chest freezer full of water. Feels like death in the beginning. It's worse than lying down in the snow because snow eventually insulates (after it bites your skin for a minute or so). I took it too far initially, was laying in the snow and then stood in the wind for who knows how long. Took me 18 minutes to stop shivering when I went inside. Skin temp = 52F haha
All great points. The fact of the matter is either you are that person or not. Thousands of people complain about being fat but always come up with an excuse. Goes with everything in life. Work training family etc
@Tuff Bud sure its very unlikely, but imagine brian has a really good week, and 2 of those 3 you mentioned are injured (which is very common). it's within the realm of possibility. anyways your negative attitude only serves to motiviate brian
Brian shaw, you are truly a master at champion mindset and motivation. Wow. To do all that in Middle School and throughout your life is so mind-blowing you're truly a machine brother. Number five WSM this year My money is on you bud.
I watch lots of channels to help motivate me. Yesterday after truckin from 1am-7pm watched this and dumbbell pressed til I couldn’t then did tricep presses 💪
Brian you say this may not be comfortable for some .. that is your way, not necessarily “the” way .. I would offer that every successful individual I listen to says exactly what you are saying. One must choose to work and work hard. One must experience struggle and failure to grow. Pushing through hard times makes you stronger. They all say it … Do The Work !
I absolutely took a lot away from this. It's not necessarily NEW information, in the sense that I (and I'm sure many of the people watching) have heard similar advice and adages towards a similar mentality towards life - Jordan Peterson being a prime example - but for whatever reason it's also very grounding and relatable hearing the message coming from you. Granted, you're a massive role model of mine and I look up to you, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it, but you also have LIVED it, saw the fruits of your labor, and continue to strive for greatness in the face of what 99.99% of the population would consider hefty enough laurels to rest upon for the rest of their life. It's extremely humbling, and I feel like I've grown closer to becoming the man I want to be for hearing it. Thank you for sharing. -James
The highschool memory guy is a hilarious but great analogy. I always used to use the gym and training to enhance my sports performance for soccer and hockey, but after I stopped playing high level organized sports at college I switched all my focus and goals towards and gym and have absolutely fallen in love with the weights and just want to always set new goals when I break them. I still play soccer snd hockey recreationally and now the gym is my full time sport and its just non stop fun and the harder I can push it the more accomplished I feel. God bless, Brian 💪and stay great!
So timely! Just finished week 1 of a new plan starting week two and it’s been a struggle to get going but have pushed through and it felt great at the end! Thanks for the motivation
Needed to hear this today, I have not been making the hard choices lately and yesterday i payed the price for that by failing a class. Thats not me and its not gonna be me, im taking this class next semester and im getting and A mark my words. Now im gonna go deadlift and let off some steam. Lets BE GREAT people!!!
Brian, I am sure you already know but the events for WSM 2022 have been announced. You seem to have a sixth sense for anticipating events because the ones you've shown us, for the most part, will be there. But the fact that they have an event based on a Knack box and you just trained with one; just floored me. Well done sir on randomly picking Knack to train with.
Sixth sense = hearing through the grapevine + events from Europe’s are usually similar to World’s anyway. Really good events for Brian this year - imo it’s Tom, Brian, Licis podium
@@ArtemisBumwhistle I am thinking the same for the podium. I am hoping Brian can pull it out. I think Licis is a bit behind Tom and Brian as far as deadlifts. For the Arnold he didn’t focus on that but on heavy back squat. Should be a great contest.
@@awallner1 I think Licis only wins if he does really well on The Flintstones press, the other events favour Tom and Brian, I think Tom will win the medley just because he’s more agile than Brian, I think they will tie on deadlift for reps, tie on flintstone press, Tom will win stones and I think it’ll come down to truck pull, and power stairs. We’ve not seen Tom do powerstairs, but he should be good given his height and as long as his technique is down, he’ll be good at truck pull. Would love to see Brian get the fifth title, but I reckon this is his last chance.
Love you and Keri!! My husband and I push each other and have a similar competitive dynamic to what I have seen from the two of you. We love to lift and workout together. I am on another journey back to strength after baby number three. I find the two of you so motivating and inspirational. Keep up the awesome content and looking forward to the Shaw Classic
These talks you do alone are really cool. Helping me out sometimes while I am doing the hard things, so thanks for that B. Always appreciate positive energy I can get!
I AGREE I LOVE TOO SEE BRIAN GET 5 BUT IF IAM COMPLETELY HONEST TOM IS GOING TO BE VERY HARD TO BEAT AND MARTINS IS GOING TO BE VERY HARD TOO BEAT BUT IF ANYONE CAN DO IT LOL IT'S BRIAN SHAW.
We can't live in the past.... if you live in the past you won't move forward... I think the movie "Meet the Robinsons" said it best... "KEEP MOVING FORWARD"
Hey Brian, long time fan here. I would like to connect with you about possibly being a sponsor (through my business) for one of your events. I would love to speak with you about any upcoming projects where we might have an opportunity. What would be a good way to reach you? Do you have a general email ?

I appreciate these motivational stories.
Interview Pavel Tatsouline!!
There's no substitute for real motivation or inspiration. Mentally you've gotta be inspired to be number one.

Had you ever entered any ultra-distance events before? For such distances, there is usually a qualifying time. How did you train?

Brian and Keri are definitely a power couple! Great topic again Brian!
Love this Podcast Brian! Can’t wait to see you win #5 this year! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
NEVER going to happen. Especially not with Licis and Novikov, and of course Tom competing.
@Tuff Bud sure its very unlikely, but imagine brian has a really good week, and 2 of those 3 you mentioned are injured (which is very common). it's within the realm of possibility. anyways your negative attitude only serves to motiviate brian
Great episode, love the solo ones especially. Thanks for always inspiring me to push myself Brian!

Drive for 5 ,,, Prayers for you Brian ,,,, Go get them Big Man
Something I hear a lot is “ It’s easy for you” when really it’s not. It’s hard for everyone .

Brian...Brian. "Do the hard things daily", whatever those might be. Tell me, do you truly believe you could accomplish this as a SOLITARY athlete?
