Brian looks so involved you can feel the heart he puts in the contest. He pays attention to the fan's feedback and try to make things better every year.
Shaw's competition is the best imo and since he's so accomplished/passionate/respected by the competitors..I think the athletes see that winning this competition truly proves who the strongest is, yes winning WSM will change your life (money and fame) but when you talk about respect then it's the Shaw Classic I think Brian (along with the other strongmen on social media gaining audiences) will bring the sport to the next level, like the way The Ultimate Fighter basically saved the UFC.
I love that Brian is really focusing on the showmanship and wow factor and aspect of strongman. Considering that's the reason it started in the first place it's really good to see Brian embracing those roots and really focusing on putting on a show for the people
Agree. While we do consider it a great sport, and more regulation/bigger mainstream push would be great, people should continue to acknowledge the showmanship and circus freakshow aspect in my eyes - seeing these guys lift crazy real life stuff is what makes them relatable while impossible to copy at the same time.
@@shawnmichaud4484 yeah, it's kind of sad that Canada's Strongest man is actually a higher prestige title. The American strongmen that are actually world-class just stop going to ASM. Shaw went in 2016 which probably confused them more than anything lol. Does anyone know who Josh Silvas even is? He won the competition and holds the title but I'm sure even he knows he can't really claim to be the strongest man in America with a straight face.
@@timma000 I'll say straight out that there may be more story to it that I don't know about. All I know is what's easily available, and that's that most good American athletes don't go. It seems to be there's just no exposure, no hype, no marketing, and no prize money, relatively speaking. Title contests like [demographic] strongest man really rely on attracting the best talent in that demographic so that if you win you can claim that on this day, you were the strongest. If someone who could do well in World's isn't competing at World's it's because they're injured or something. Even in Canada, CSM is huge for Canadian athletes. But in the US, the simple fact that the big guys don't go means the other big guys don't see it as a title that's worth much, since the title sort of leans on who you beat. Look at Britain's Strongest or Europe's Strongest. Huge events, well promoted, top athletes go, so it attracts big athletes. The solution is to properly promote it.
