Hi, You said lagging. When I take my foot of the gas the rpms are decreasing after 1 sec lag. It was the same with yours? Thanks

Had to change my head gasket recently and had some trouble with the idle. The car was parked for 6 months. The MAF (air flow sensor) was stuck shut by some kind of rust. Had to disassemble it, even though it's a sensitive piece and no one recommends it. The metallic flap pin had a lot of rust and I wasn't able to clean it properly but could clean the inside (where the air passes through) and throw some WD40 on the inside of the pin space. It got 99% better, but I know that I still have some problems because the car hesitates when changing gears (probably because the MAF is still a little bit stuck and stutters during the aspiration of air by the engine). This, and I also cleaned the ICV (idle control valve). It's a metallic cylinder that sits behind the intake in your model. A normal ICV will be easily movable, you can hear it moving when you shake it with your hand. I cleaned mine with a lot of brake cleaner (but I would recommend something less aggressive, like carb cleaner) and after I was done, I also put a lot of WD40 to maintain it lubricated. Let it dry, and then reassemble everything. The same with the MAF: don't put it back if you clean it, let it dry. I recommend reading about it on the internet before doing the MAF cleaning, it's an electronic piece and can very easily be broken (and costs a freaking lot). The other possibility is a vacuum leak. My car hoses were completely destroyed, so I bought about 1,5m of new hoses and replaced all of them (and the tube that goes to the ICV, it's a special one and mine was cracked, can be your case). The best thing is to disassemble, clean everything and inspect the hoses and replace them all if you think they are old since they can become brittle and crack with time. It's a day's work if you have all the parts with you.

I never understood why people keep making instructional videos on things they know nothing about…
