  • We show and discuss the history of the physical remains of the Cumberland Valley RR in its corporate headquarters town of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, including the roundhouse and shops complex, the original (as rebuilt after its destruction by Confederates during the Civil War) company office and passenger depot, the second passenger depot, and other features.

    Timely video. Been doing research on my ancestors that settled in Chambersburg back in the early 1700's. Not just who they were but trying to grasp the reality of life back then, up through the civil war. Probably still have a few cousin's or 10 that live there.. I can see now why several are listed the census as working for the rr. Such rich history in that area. Thank you for the video.

    I'm from Waynesboro and recently moved to Chambersburg (Fayetteville). I'm a big fan of local history and especially railroad history. Thanks for this information! I'm more familiar with Waynesboro and PenMar history, such as Geiser Mfg, the trolley line, and Pen Mar Park. I'll need to start reading up on Chambersburg!
