      It seems other than the piano, everything else was run through the reverb chamber or tremolo was used, the Vibraphone can heard in tremolo as it is common for that instrument! Makes me seem as though I am floating, I grew up hearing music in our house!! My Mom used our big console stereo to teach me to dance close with the Theme From a Summer Place on repeat it was loud enough we thought we were dancing in front of the band and singers!! An amazing love ballad that is still relevant today!!

      We’re not missing out though. We’re right here watching this video on RUclips along with everybody else. The cool thing about this day in time is that we can actually enjoy music from today through the last 100 years, without having to own 200 different albums to do so. We can literally type in a song we may want to hear from say, 1959, and BOOM - here we are! The digital age has made it possible that a millennial like me can listen to and enjoy this music right here in 2020. So no, I don’t feel like I’m “missing out” at all. 😁

    • @jarchhhh
      @jarchhhh 4 года назад +4

      @@LeimertDreamer Agreed on one level...access to musical archives allow us to "experience" other times and places. But, the digital age only allows us to experience a facsimile of the original time, place and feeling. The social context is missing entirely. A person living in the 40's through Tommy Dorsey, the 60's through the Beatles...the 70's through glam rock, the 90's through Grunge, etc, etc experienced those moments in a very different context than simply dialing up RUclips. When I saw my father get dreamy eyed listening to the music of his day, I knew he was back in that moment...a moment I could never, ever feel.

    • @LeimertDreamer
      @LeimertDreamer 4 года назад +2

      @@jarchhhh Very good points, and valid ones. I’m sure your grandpa has/had wonderful memories from his day. 🙂 The only thing I will add is that those of us who enjoy this older music don’t necessarily wish to have experienced the time it was produced. I, as a relatively successful Black man, would probably not want to live in the 1950s, as opportunities for me now are much greater than then. Plus, I have my own set of songs from my “younger” years (granted, I’m only in my early 30s) that give my eyes a twinkle or two :-). Which brings me back to the original point, which is that we’re so blessed to be able to enjoy music from many different times and eras. Also, I can’t promise that I don’t apply some of these love songs to situations in my own life now lol! 😆 So, in that regard, these songs not only can be enjoyed by younger generations but can be applicable too!

      My mother passed the year after yours and I am sorry for your loss. As long as you have the memories of your mother as I do, you still have her love and support. When you get to a crossroad, think about what she would say and follow that leading. That is her love and support. With prayer and supplication, the pain of my mom’s loss has eased. Ironically the year this song was recorded by the Flamingos is the year my parents got married, 1959.
