I don’t think necessarily think Dame had much sayso over Jay’s decisions on when to release his album. He could advise but Jay being an equal partner would have complete control over his own albums.
Ya’ll dragging it up in here. It’s only 12 months a year and albums for the most were dropping months apart back then. It might have been best for them to come out around the same time to capitalize off the ROC imprint. If you look at Bleek discography it probably came out in proximity as Jay and other artist on the labels as well. Now what he was doing to Nas was definitely questionable but if Sig came out in this generation he’d be lucky if a labelmate wouldn’t have dropped the wk before or after his project. He had an ample amount of time to do his numbers. Could they have pushed it more? Probably. But it’s gon always be about who keeping the lights on

@ Jada went platinum under Ruff Ryders as well. What was his lead single on Kiss Da Game Goodbye? Put Ya Hands Up…. then We Gon Make It 🤔 I’m sorry those were not crossover type records but more so singles for a street audience which I appreciated. Cause he was staying true to himself. There’s no reason why Beans couldn’t have a similar setup but Jada wasn’t signed under another rapper. Compare to Jay undermining his sells. Which is a shame because Siegel had songs that made you “Feel” like a DMX / PAC
@fairgamewithtjorum you missing the point,Jada has built up so much anticipation for his solo project from years of grinding that he could afford to have street records for singles and still go platinum Beanie killed his career by constantly having legal issues and drug problems Jays a scumbag, but let's not change history and act like beanie was ever on the same level with Jay sales wise
Beanie was a regional rapper , outside of the New York east coast rap scene people weren’t really buying his music like that , I’m from the south (Louisiana) and at this time the only New York rappers that was selling nationally were Jay z, DMX, Ja rule , etc, me personally I liked Beans as a rapper but I bought other New York rappers albums back then before I’d buy the Beanie, Memphis Bleek type of New York rappers back then, basically Beans unfortunately was only popular in his neck of the woods that why he didn’t sell as well as more commercial rappers like Jay Z , etc.
Jay dropped 1 ALBUM within 3 months of his album "The Reason" 6-26-2001 and that was Blueprint 9-11-2001 stop cappin beans .. All the others bruh had room.
Exactly Jay dropped his albums the 4th quarter for like seven years straight. Brand must be talking about singles because the rolls outs were longer back then.
No one stopped the masses from purchasing Beans albums, regardless of when they dropped. People bought millions of NWA albums with no air play and less technology.
@@nkosistrainbullies5806 Comparing the 2 makes it worse: NWA (w/o radio play) vs the U.S. government. Beans vs Jay (who questioned Beans on his song 'Already Home,' when Jay asked "...I heated up the ROC already, so how tf y'all can't hot already?" No one sabotaged Beans's career.

Huh? Jay-Z dropped an album 8 months after Sigel’s debut album and 3 months after his sophomore album, how is that right after? And Def Jam made Jay-Z a fourth quarter artist because he was a flagship artist for them. His albums, especially during that run, always dropped in the fourth quarter… I don’t know about that “take…” 🤷🏾♂️

The closes that they’ve been was in 01 when Jay dropped Blueprint 3months after Beans dropped. Beans like other artist at that time lacked the work ethic and discipline
Blueprint dropped a year after beans debut so you’re incorrect off bat. The dynasty album dropped months after beans first album. Then the blueprint just months after beans 2nd lp
Man hov dropped an album every year while he was on , nowadays that’s unheard of … I don’t think it was intentional that he dropped the same time a beanie
Yup from 96-03 Drake didn't do that but Drake was hot for 15 years straight off features, EP, mixtapes and album runs every other year including collaborative albums. 2010, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20,21,22 and 23. Hella run but not every year dropping solo consistently
When you look at the time between when Beans dropped an album and when Jay-Z did, their albums were months and months apart. This idea he was dropping albums at the same time that Beans did doesn’t even make any sense.
@@EHN2024Jay-Z was dropping studio albums. Drake did not drop 8 albums in 8 years ever. And he got a whole team of ghostwritters. Drake did not drop in 2014 either. He had only 3 studio albums between 2010-2014. (2010, 2011, 2013). So what Jay-Z did was more impressive especially in the physical era without a team of ghostwritters either
And beans damn near took over jay la familia album and said on plenty of records he not tryna change beans jus help him cross over. I think he was rooting for beans.
@@911Nails it's how this narrative is changing. I was around during that era and in no way did it seem like Jay was trying to suppress Beans. If anything, he supported him more than Bleek or Kanye.

No body was thinking about beanie sigel 🧐 Jay-Z did him a favor by promoting him and putting his album close to his and not only that the roc made sure beanie looked or lived like a platinum artist even tho he never really went platinum , beenie sigel could rap like a star but he didnt look like one and that's why Jay-Z kept stepping up to help him out . He didn't need to fear beanie sigel because Jay-Z was the star of the label .
Not true Jay released Vol 3 in Dec 99 and Beans dropped in Feb 2000. Jay had Do It Again and Big Pimpin as singles. Beans had The Truth and Remember The Days as singles. Instead of Letting Beans release a third single they released Anything that was a Jay bonus track on The Truth as a third single and it bolstered Jay’s sells and hurt Beans.
@willsalter8113 Those release dates are literally 2 months apart. Secondly, Beans dropped his album after Jay z. That totally flies in the face of his claim. C'mon man, get it together.
@ Do you not understand album cycles? Can you not read? Most labels back then would give their artists six month windows before they released another album from an artist on their label. The only one who didn’t was Master P with No Limit and that’s because he didn’t rely on radio or video promotion to move units. Even Def Jam would release albums quarterly to allow each artist time to shine. Vol 3 was supposed to come out in October but he pushed it back because Nas was dropping Nastradamus in November and he wanted to see if Nas dissed him. That threw off DMX’s (R.I.P) promotion for And Then There Was X and Beans The Truth. Instead of giving Beans a third single he released Anything which was a bonus track on The Truth. Most people thought that song was on Jay’s album and not Beans. So what are you talking about? Beans was correct.
@willsalter8113 What does reading have to do with his claim? The fact is that it's simply not true. Rocafella/Def Jam had countless artists. Waiting every 6 months to release an album for each individual would be problematic. So, I doubt that claim is even true.
@@jermaineartis4323 what time the albums dropped is irrelevant. Like I said he was taking peoples songs, beats, lyrics, lingo etc, then shelving projects basically. Some of his biggest songs, belonged to people on his label first. If they had a hot song he had to jump on it, or just sneak it away. He wanted all the shine for himself Jay is a snake, King Cobra!
People really act like Jay-Z controls every single thing under the sun. First people would say he would drop albums right when Nas would, now trying to say he would drop albums when Beans would. Just making up anything to say at this point.

Master P, and all of his No Limit artists dropped albums within the same month independently and it still was successful, Jay saw that when him and P both had a distribution deal with “Priority Records” but apparently it didn’t work how he envisioned as a CEO.
It’s refreshing to hear people we consider “real nighas” speaking their truths without throwing hate or jus running off at the mouth telling or gossiping about another man’s business so gratitude for that Art! 🙋🏽♂️
I'm disappointed in Beans, he's playing the fence when I truly believe that he knows Rocafella wanted him to move as many units as possible for it lines there pockets. Him saying "I don't know" keeps the myth going and makes it look like he was so mistreated and maybe he was better than Jay. He still in his feelings with Jay. If you were that good, why no hits after Rocafella Beans????
Like u said stuck in the past n still confused on how everything went sour can't let go of that great feeling he had
Someone please pull up the data on those release dates. That'd be crazy if Jay was dropping when Beans dropped
Jay always dropped in the fourth quarter, absent Reasonable Doubt.
Beans was the muscle, talent and more. His loyalty is due to his upbringing. It sounds like Beans doesn't want to dwell on the past even if it was true.
Jay was Mr Summer before Neans was there. Sound like bro should have picked another season easy. "Jay held you down six summers wheres the love"

Oh Yeah, And another thing if Jay-Z did put them out at the same time and they picked Jay-Z over Beanie Sigel. How tf do U say the Beanie Sigel is better than Jay-Z. That mean that Jay-Z album sell would go down if people could only buy one and they thought that Beanie Sigel was better...

I’ve NEVER seen Jay Z speak negative about any of these people publicly. Shout out Beans though for keeping it real.
He’s not keeping it real tho.

Beans is a legend (one of the best to ever do it) with great albums, but those albums did not have strong enough crossover hits to outsell Jay. Wouldn’t have matter if Jay dropped a whole year after Beans, if you don’t have crossover hits!
If that's the case..why did Jay put the "anything" bonus(with a video) on the Truth album? Wouldn't that bring sales to The Truth album.

Fab literally made radio music for ladies, helping him crossover
And Jada went platinum after years of putting in work with the lox/bad boy, than ruff Ryder's,who had one of the biggest acts at the time in DMX,as well as being able to make and feature on radio joints...beans couldn't..

There’s no reason why Beans couldn’t have a similar setup but Jada wasn’t signed under another rapper. Compare to Jay undermining his sells.

Sometimes A Soul Is So Strong, It Can't See 👁️👁️ The Snakes In The Grass 😞
This is simply not true. The majority of their album release dates are months apart on Def Jam/Roc. The closest being AG and The Solution.
