Macs Jab could've been so much better, there was one patch where they introduced a mechanic where if you inputted the gentleman manually it'd have less end lag and you could actually combo out of it too, but it was apparently a mistake so it got removed again :(
That was the sickest patch, jab became even more terrifying...
I wish they kept it Mac needs longer combos

Peanut comment section moment
Got a tournament today and been using Little Mac as a main for a while now. People underestimate him when they see him as an opponent. Personally I find he's about patience (He IS a boxer after all) and learning your opponents moves. Despite being touted as one of the worst characters in the game he has great utility and hits like a tank. Always glad to see your videos to learn better ways to play this character and develop strategies!
His smash attacks are completely good
I love how he has by far the worst aerial kit but also by far the fastest aerial kit.

I think the thing that rips off Mac the most is that he has a terrible grab and weak throws even if grabs by nature are only possible ON THE GROUND, well normal grabs anyway. I would trade KO Punch for an incredible grab games since everything is unsafe and if star punches are still not an option. I also wish his aerials did complement his grounded moves in advantage. Like I can see that through out all the gameplay he has possible strings and combos, but they are almost all fake.
Like peanut brought up in this video, mac doesn't actually have any good shield pressuring moves. What is good at pressuring shields? A grab. The throws don't even have to be that impressive, since the throw itself gives mac a way to prevent people from shielding his pokes/attacks.
@@happymagician1699 Also the whole logic of gloves making grabs worse it not really a thing since strong fighters usually have incredible grips on things... and the fact that it should not slow his arms at all since he's the same guy with a frame 1 jab.
Honestly, I can't see Mac having a good ground game because of how shit his grabs/throws are. Mac's tech chasing? Phenomenal. Everything else on the ground? mediocre or garbage. Too many moves are unsafe against shielding which is going to be one of the most prominent defensive options on the ground. If Mac tries anything but DA F-smash on shield, he's getting shit on for it since so many characters can answer back with an OOS option like up-b or shield grab and put him into a terrible position. It feels like there are characters that do what Mac is supposed to excel at better, even without his runspeed and super armor, since they're not limited by lack of shield pressure.
@@StrikerElite923 boxers do have “grabs” in the form of clinches too, would’ve been cool if he had a throw like ryu or ken focus attacks that instead of sending you outward, debilitated the opponent and sent them to the ground to simulate a boxing knockdown - which could be used to set up combos or at the very least put mac in advantage

To be fair, it's a game about killing. If it doesn't contribute to killing via combo to rack up damage for kill, confirm into kill, or actual kill, it isn't helping much. (yes there are niche cases like armour abuse, but still)

Honestly I use upward angle when I should go for regular f-smash at ledge to much because I'd say its better to but at ledge I've killed midweights at 60 70 percent from raw fsmash at ledge.

Mac back air is pretty 💩
I've had some success using it to set up a ledge trap on stages where there's platform. Opponent jumps, you run back hop, backair quick drop, dtilt into jolt confirm.
But it's pretty shit.

garbage end lag, easy to punish when predictable, most mac players religiously land with it and then get punished for it every time because they refuse to adapt
If you could counter, you could have dodged or armored. Both are safer and have comparable pay off.
@@Peanut_SSBU No but think about it like this: Link throws boomerang in neutral. That shit has a 27 frame startup. You can react with counter (frame 5) and, at midrange, you slide forward and hit him. Being able to essentially shut down Link's boomerang at midrange is so huge
