Mentally, I always pair Demis with Nana Mouskouri. Nana had her own show on BBC tv in the 70s but I didn’t watch it due to liking rock music and regarding Nana’s music as rather “square” in my youthful ignorance. Only recently have I finally “discovered” Nana, Demis and the wonderful Charles Aznavour. Nana sings a lovely song “The Rose Of Athens” (or White Rose of Athens) as well as the best version of Amazing Grace. Well done for listening to Demis. Yes, somehow it refreshes you and takes you to, in my view, far better times. A time of greater beauty, invention and sheer talent.
Demis was once third of Aphrodite's Child (with Vangelis Papathanassiou, later simply known as Vangelis) and most of his solo career songs were revamped tunes from that band.
They were 4 in the bad but one guy was in. Army duty and joined for the third and final album.
Now Vangelis are playing beside Demis,RIP,we are just travelers on this life.
He was a Greek from Alexandria Egypt. There was big Greek community there for thousands of years, the Egyptiot Greeks.
Demis Roussos is a Greek singer and performer who had a string of international hit records as a solo performer in the 1970s after having been a member of the sixties band "Aphrodite's Child", a progressive rock group that also included the well renowned Vangelis. He has sold over 60 million records worldwide. He dominated the romantic songs in the seventies and his great love songs such as ( forever and ever , goodbye my love . souvenir . winter rains . because . far away , shadows . spring summer winter ) and an endless list of everlasting songs

"Karkkilan I Ukuleleorkesteri @Kukulele 2018 : Paratiisi", cover of one of the most popular songs ever in Finland with a little bit of humour.
Or "Gypsy Uke" by the same band. They perform on that same stage in Helsinki 3,5 hours from now. I think I'm gonna go and see them. It's only half a mile away from where I live.

I will like to check out the ukulele band. I have seen a few covers such as for The Islander. I have the music for that one, and have practiced the song. I also have worked on Meadow's of Heaven.
