For those who don’t know, Steven Curtis Chapman had adopted 2 little girls from China. He wrote this song for them. Not long after this, one if his daughters was tragically ran over by a car and passed away. So this song has extra special meaning.
Oh wow had no idea. I already loved this song before, used to imagine myself dancing with my nowadays little girl, imagining her at her wedding. Cried every time already but yes, this makes it even more special. Thank you very much!
one good thing came from that video besides seeing that Audio quality CAN and DOES matter for our perception of music... And thats that youngsters that are fans of Linus probably didn't know too much about this incredible singer. And because of that video they got to listen to something that sadly isn't appreciated on nowadays radio. Want more of this on radio!

My wife and I had a miscarriage last year and this song just makes me cry, but it also helps me realize that some sweet day I will get to see my Child in Heaven. We named her Cherish April
That is a beautiful name. I will pray that God will hold you and your wife close, and comfort your broken hearts as you await the day when you can hold precious Cherish April. 💜
I'm sorry that meeting on earth was not in God's will, but know that he is perfect and rest assured, if Christ is your savior, you WILL get your dance with your little girl in the presence of the Lord Almighty. Amen
Hi, Mike you will certainly see your little one in heaven , please read the book "My time in heaven written by Pastor Richard Sigmund. Pastor Sigmund had died in a car accident foreight hours, but atthe blink of an eye ,he was taken to heaven .As you read through the book , you'll find the answer you've been looking for, Jesus never forgets about any single detail, he promised that if we believe in him, we shall not perish but have everlasting life. My son is in prison. We're raising his daughter. He has kept in touch, apologized, and earned the right to a program called Day with Dad on more than one occasion. We just returned from a memorable day. The Prison Ministry group asked my son what he wanted to give to his daughter (Special Needs, 16 years old.) He asked for a Daddy Daughter Dance. These wonderful people arranged for this to happen. He got his first dance with his daughter today. This was the song he picked for her. He danced with Cinderella...and she with her Prince Charming and hero...her dad. Thank you for your gift of song. She has a form of cancer...we all know each visit may be her last. Such a memory to give to both of them.
@@firstnameIastname Actually, he got himself in prison. And disease is because of us. We sinned and brought it upon ourselves. But ignorance is bliss, I suppose.
My father died 2 weeks ago. This was the song I was going to dance with him to at my wedding and my sister had danced with him to this song at a father daughter dance when she was little. It was really special to us. Listening to it makes me cry but it reminds me of the good times we had. And there were a lot of good times. I wish my dad could've walked me down the isle and danced to this song with me.
I was blessed to dance to this song with my daughter at her wedding nearly 8 years ago. I was also blessed to see and hear him perform this publicly for the first time after his daughter’s death......there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.
So sorry, Ashley. My father died eight year ago. I thought my broken heart would never heal. I will always miss him. I am thankful for the good memories also but loss is hard. Prayers.
When I was 13 and first heard this song my dad and I promised we’d dance to this song at my wedding, 11 years later and a month away from my wedding we are still keeping that promise 💙
My daughter and husband have listened to it for years saying it will be their dance and she just was proposed to today and her dad is listening to it. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Best wishes to you all.
My dad showed me this song so we could dance to it at my wedding. It’s the only song he ever went out of his way to show me. He got sick and passed away three weeks after a diagnosis, but I got to his hold his hand and listen to it on his hospice bed…Though he could barely speak, he knew all of the words. it will always hold a special place in my heart.
My father died when I was 4, and used to call me his "little Cinderella" because Cinderella was my favorite princess. Just yesterday, one of my best friends got married (beautiful ceremony) and danced with her father to this song. I couldn't help it, I started to cry. My Daddy used to dance with me until I fell asleep on his shoulder. Many people have said that they had never seen a stronger bond between a father and his little girl. Now I know that I will never have that chance at my own wedding. I would give almost anything to have him back. He was a wonderful person and my best friend. So as I look at the old pictures of me and him, I treasure all the good times I had with him and will be forever I got the chance to have him in my life, even for a short time. Midnight struck too soon for me.
I know I could never understand the pain you must go through everyday just remember god is for you and you'll see him soon..god bless you and your family your daddy is watching you right now I hope you have a good day
I am sorry I just lost my grandfather and that's how close we were because I did not have a father so he was like my father cause my father left me when he found out my mom was pregnt
I'm really sorry for all the pain you must have at a lot of moments, but also remember that God is watching over you and loves you. Have a blessed day! (;
Hey don't worry u know that your.dad is taking care of you from where.ever he is.at and.always have faith. And he will be.dancing with you on your wedding
Lyrics She spins and she sways to whatever song plays Without a care in the world And I'm sitting here wearing The weight of the world on my shoulders It's been a long day and there's still work to do She's pulling at me saying, "Dad, I need you There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited And I need to practice my dancin' Oh, please, daddy, please" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed She wants to know if I approve of the dress She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away And I need to practice my dancin' Oh, please, daddy, please" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh-oh-oh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone She will be gone But she came home today with a ring on her hand Just glowing and telling us all they had planned She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away But I need to practice my dancin' Oh, please, daddy, please" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh-oh-oh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone
When I was 6 or 7 I wanted this song to be played at my wedding, so I can dance with my Dad. Now I'm 14 and I still want it to be. I'm just scared, what if my dad isn't here in the next 10 years. It's my dream to dance with my dad to this song. It makes me cry
that’s what i am doing my sweet 16 is saturday and it’s been hard bc i don’t live with him so i know i am going to cry my first ever dance with my dad never danced with him before
For years I couldn’t listen to this song without sobbing because I lost so much time with my daughter because of divorce and other stuff I won’t go into. But I felt like I’d lost her. Knowing Steven went through even much worse, the song just broke my heart. Years later my daughter is getting ready for college, and God has healed deep wounds like only He can. I still cry listening to this, but it’s joy and sadness and hope and above all, gratitude. If you’re hurting, no matter how badly or for how long, I promise you that Jesus is real, He is with you, and He loves you more than words can ever say. Let Him hold you and heal you.
I've only got a little more than 2 weeks before my princess gets married. I hope I can hold it together when we dance to this song. It seems this song was written for her and me. Ever since she could walk, she would dance around the house. As soon as she could talk, she asked me to dance with her like the prince in Cinderella.
TaraLPS Thank you! It was tough but I did hold it together! I just watched this video again yesterday because all of the wedding pictures just came back and to me, the best pictures were the father daughter dance. But I am biased! :-) Her and her new husband are doing great. Thanks again.
Just attended the most beautiful wedding of all time; and I was the father of the bride! The plans were for me to have that 'father-daughter' dance at the reception. My daughter, Bree, surprised me with THIS song for our dance. We both cried like babies... but it was SOOOO touching and soooooo beautiful!
I cry each time hear this song. My daughter got married 2 years ago, and I asked for one favor: to play this for the father-daughter dance. She started crying her eyes out and so did I. This song personifies the deep and endless love a father has for his daughter... thank you, Steven!!!
This song makes me feel for those without fathers or father figures in their lives. The only father we all need is our heavenly Father though, his love for us is greater than anyones.
Yes, for all the children who were/are mistreated by the man they call dad, you have a Heavenly Father who can be trusted. He loves you! You are His Treasured Daughters and Treasured Sons, Chosen and Dearly Loved and WANTED!
I haven’t heard this song in AGES. My dad always used to tell me he saved this song just for me. I have one distinct memory from when I was maybe 7 or 8 of him playing this from his computer, helping me onto his feet, and he danced around the living room together. He told me, “I always think of you when I hear this song. This is our song.” Fast forward to now me being 20, our relationship isn’t as strong as it was. I never got a prom (my senior prom was cancelled in 2020), I’m not exactly wanting to get married, but I decided to come back to this song one more time. I just broke into tears just thinking of that one special memory I have with him. He’s not the best dad out there, but I will treasure the precious times we had together when I was little.
My daughter picked up this song to dance with me on her wedding day. It was very emotional moment to me, the father that saw her growing a very successful life since 1987. Her life was an inspiration to me and I am so thankful to GOD for given me a so happy and successful girl. Love you my dear.
This song makes me cry every time I hear it. I know a lot of people say that he wrote it because his daughter died, but he actually wrote it before that happened, and then (in an interview) he said that he thought that he'd never be able to sing it again. To me, that makes it even sadder. :(
I danced this song with my dad at my quinceñera (only half the song). Then I danced the full song with him on my wedding day. I now have 4 little girls and this song makes me cry every time. ❤
Hi, If you are Luna, I'm so glad to hear that your life is good and I hope that your husband came back from deployment all in one piece. If your not her, well I'm equally as glad that your life is good. Yours, Ann
Well, this song just crushes me every time I hear it. It must be eight years ago since I thought of this. We still lived in our old house with the computer tucked in the corner of or small kitchen, and our 7 and 5 year old daughters would laugh and giggle and clamor for one more turn dancing on my feet before bed. Now, they are 15 and 12 and barely have a minute for me when their face isn't glued to their iPhone. I heard an interview with Steven and his daughter on a podcast called "Jesus calling" earlier today and it reminded me of this song, Glad I came here for another listen!
This song will be played at ny daughters wedding...shes only 5...she doesnt know it yet🥰 This makes me want to be the best father i can be....so powerful
@@impalednewt Well….. it’s poignant…. Bittersweet- it’s ‘both/and’ (as Father God warned Adam and Eve if they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good AND Evil….) So, yes, it’s a bit sad ….and beautiful (for all the time lived together). It’s truth…. Reality. And the sooner people face reality, typically (hopefully) the better choices they make with their time and how they choose to spend it. So THAT perspective shift can create a more beautiful life- because a father who dances with his daughter, probably also does a LOT of other wonderful, family bonding activities which will build a legacy of love and connection for generations. (Like read the Bible and pray over his family). So a child who grows up in a home like that physically leaves the geographical home-base one day- ok- but the Bible tells us ‘ LOVE NEVER DIES’, so her heart always has this amazing special place for parents and this is enduring…. !!! Read Psalm 127-128. Beautiful! Also Proverbs 17:6 “Children’s children are a crown to the aged and parents are the pride of their children.” 💛💫🌅 This song encourages parents with ‘carpe diem’- seize the day. Like the Bible teaches us: ‘the days are evil’ so we need God’s help and wisdom to know how to use our time. And this song helps us prioritize God’s heart…. He loves family; and connection, beauty, movement/motion, celebration and fun! He designed us the way He did- and He created girls and women to love dancing!! This is good for men to seek to understand deeply. This video is ‘iron sharpening iron’ at it’s finest. Well done, SCC. 👍🙌💛
I am bawling my eyes out right now. I was at my last daddy-daughter dance... Something at my school when you come to a dance with your dad. We danced to this song, and it was beautiful. I am so sad, I've done this for the past 3 years. Someone else in my grade was crying, it was her last time too. I saw her expression and realized that I'm growing up... How short life was. I wanted to cry so bad, but I held it in until now. I will never attend a daddy-daughter dance again..
kstew I am so sorry to hear that :( I wasn't trying to say what I had with him wasn't good enough, I was trying to say I was a bit upset that the moment was gone. Now I realize that I will probably be able to have him with me at my wedding.
LPS KitKat I feel so bad for you I'm crying my tears out to it's so hard me and my big brother John used to dance to this I loved it but now he doesn't until he got interested in girls and started kissing and stuff😭😭😧😞😢😢
It’s okay to be afraid of that. My dad was 43 when I was born. So I shared your fear. May I give some unsolicited advice? Enjoy each day, tomorrow will take care of itself. My dad lived to see me marry and have two beautiful daughters. They were old enough to have wonderful memories of him before he went to be with Jesus.
Ikr my dad would take me to the daddy daughter dances before and it would play this song at the end I said I hated to go to them but now that I don't I miss them
You simply cannot listen to this without also listening to Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses." They're both beautiful songs about the joys of fatherhood.
My 17 year old daughter wants this at her wedding for her and I to dance. She finally let me listen to it knowing how'd I react. Tears, absolute tears! I will ball my eyes out dancing with her during this. It's just beautiful, and makes me realize father time wins every time. Live life every day like it's a gift, they don't call it the present for nothing.
I'm the Dad of two beautiful girls. So Blessed. Along with their mother, they are my whole world. I'm also a singer. Sing at a big church all the time. I've had the opportunity to sing in front of several thousand people. I want SO BADLY to sing this song for my daughter when she gets married. I can't make it through the song without crying... sitting here all by myself, 6 months before her big day. These lyrics are so sweet and they mean so much. I don't know how SCC can hold it together and deliver such a heart-felt rendition of this song! Kudos to you, my man. What a professional and incredible skill set. Pray for me, everyone! Ha-ha-ha... sniffle, sniffle
So beautiful, this is mine and my dad's song. I remember one night when I was younger we were driving home and we heard this song on the radio. When we got home he was still singing it and he danced me around our kitchen. This song makes me tear up if not cry every time.

Today is my oldest daughters 15th birthday. My wife is Cuban so it was her Quinceanera. She looked so absolutely beautiful. We danced together to this song. We both broke down and sobbed the entire time we danced together. Watching all 3 of my daughters grow is a blessing. But so full of heart break at the same time.
Y’all wanna cry today? I listen to this song every once in a while because I sob like a baby because 3 years ago I lost my father, and this was the song he told me he wanted to play for the father daughter dance at my wedding.
My daddy used to sing this to me ever since I was in diapers I'm 11 now he almost died in an accident. Luckly he's still here and singing me this song again
First off I love this song!! Second I was crying outside and I guess my dad saw me.. He sent me this link and said "I know your upset, I don't know about what but know I do love you and know your strong enough to get throw it. Good night baby girl" this made me cry more but happy tears knowing that my dad actually does see when I'm hurt I'm glad I have him. C: thank you so much Lord for bringing him to my mom when I was 3
I found this song at me and my dad's father daughter dance yesterday and I loved it it reminded me of me and him and when we came home my dad wasn't here so I watch this and I cried a lot then he came home and I started wiping the tears off my face. And I really really really love this song. When we were at the father daughter dance this song played and it was a slow dance and my dad started melting. God bless this man is making me and my dad cry!
my sweet precious dad passed away monday 12-26-16 Im going to miss dancing to this song with him love u daddy. fly high in heaven. love your little cinderella.
no one will probably see this but, i have no one else to talk to. this song reminds me of my dad, he hasn’t had anything to do with me for almost 5 years. he’ll offer lunch, we’ll go together, and he’ll disappear all over again. i miss you dad, this will forever be my song to you, i still love you.
Was led to this song from a Reddit video (Mark Narrations). Was instantly transported back to my childhood when my dad would put me on his feet and dance with me. Started sobbing like a baby (I'm 37). He's due for aortic surgery, and that has me so scared.
I can’t wait until next year to have one last dance with “my” Cinderella with this song. Thanks for expressing the words of the magical mystery all “Dads” should know the feeling of who have a daughter or two, Mr. Chapmen…😉🙏🏻
This song reminds me of something I'll never have. My dad is very sick and can't walk. I've always hoped he could get better to dance at my wedding. That most likely won't happen, but I couldn't love him any less. He means the world to me. I love you so much Daddy😘❤
As a girl-dad, I have always looked for songs that tell her how much I love her; how much she means to be; how she is the light of my life; how I'll never leave her. This song hits all of those notes and more. Amazing song, amazing artist.
Imagine being 14 and knowing what this song is because your great grandmother who died years ago showed me this and it sticks to me like glue because its a memory of her
My dad showed me this when I young and cried...still am...am right now...but right after that song...I asked my dad if we could dance to it at my wedding...and he said yes...I hit replay and started dancing with him...we both got teary eyed and started crying and he held my as close as he could...my best memory with my dad!!!
This song was gonna be the song I would have danced with my father. I miss him more everyday! I know he's in a better place now for he was a pastor....he left on Christmas Eve 2010. Every time I close my eyes I can imagine being in his arms dancing to this song. ❤❤❤❤
I wish this was me and my dad. My dad never seems to think I do enough. I always try to make him proud but it just feels like I can't. We aren't into the same things. I'm not even close to anyone in my family. The person I'm closest to is my brother.
Awww mama I understand you I have two kids my self and I'm separated my oldest son is 25 and my daughter is 15 and my son became his father because there dad hasn't been there for them I'm preparing my douther her Quinceañera and my son is gonna dance the valse with her.
As a father, I just balled reading this. I have two beautiful daughters, I'm not always the best father in the world, but I tell them how smart and beautiful they are and that they can do anything in the world regardless of their gender. You are valuable and awesome, I'm sorry that your father never saw the "good enough" in you.
in a year my sister is getting married, she's done so much for me when I was suicidal I would have never been here without her. This is one of her all time favorite songs. When my dad passed it was hard for all of us but it was especially hard for my sister and mom. I was not a good singer when I left home for school but I have been practicing my vocals I hope when the time comes I can sing her this song.
This song is about a little girl growing up. Reminds me of my dad, and i wish he would have been around more, the clock struck midnight i went to school, after having babies, after my dad got sick and his clock struck midnight, he was gone. How i loved him still and always will.
even as a teen boy my self, not a parent, this song of his child growing up is just so saddening to me though I love it, because of the very reason that you could have that joy with your daughter, its all worth it I think, enjoy the times that you have
Can barely listen to this song and With Hope by Steven… I’m a blessed Papa watching his little lady and baby boy (and soon boy #2!) grow right before my eyes. But before that, my wife and I suffered a miscarriage. And we still mourn that baby. I just wish any woman who was considering abortion would talk to a man and wife who wanted children, with all their might, but can’t. They would more than love that beautiful, God’s image-bearing soul. The hurt of losing a child never goes away. Even when blessed with more. But! God is ALWAYS good, just like the moon is always round. We can’t always see it, but He always is. Way better to me than I deserve.
The first time I heard this song I was 13 and every day since I’ve wanted to dance to this song with my father. Every day since I bothered him so long for a quincenera unfortunately money was to much for us. I waited for a 16 still too much. For any age that’s suppose to be a big party I wanted for that moment with my dad. I’m 26 now, I started waiting for my wedding to be able to dance with my dad but now unfortunately he passed away. I never told him this but everytime I hear this song I think of him. I hate that I never got to have that dance but I know we will once we rejoice in heaven. I love you dad and I miss you so much.
I remember when I first heard this song on the radio with my dad. With a soft smile, he turned the volume up while driving, saying how much he loves this song. Then, he explained the sad story-the daughter passing, her sibling blaming himself for the accident-so much emotional layers behind this sweet song. I couldn't imagine the family's pain of losing someone so unexpectedly. Then, after being hospitalized for nearly a month, my dad unexpectedly passed to Covid-19. The amount of grief and true heartbreak that swept over me and my family is unexplainable. I've experienced loss before, but nothing like this. I was only 15 at the time. That same year was my Sweet 16, one of the most important days of my life that signified growth, and my dad wasn't there to dance with me. It's been 2 years, and I'm now 18, experiencing the early stages of adulthood. Sometimes I think about when I could get married, and I wish my dad was here to help guide me in finding the perfect man. He gave me a promise ring for my birthday, taking me by the hand and telling me a lot of men don't know how to treasure a woman. I made a promise to find someone that loves me just as much as he did, or even more. I haven't returned to this song since he passed. It's certainly an emotional rollercoaster remembering the story that comes with this song, and that I'm able to somewhat relate to it now. I wish we could still dance to it. I'm happy for the daughters who seized the opportunity to dance with their fathers to this exact song on their wedding day, I'm sure it's a treasured memory. The bond between a father and a daughter is beyond comprehension and cannot be put into words. I miss you and love you, Dad ❤
Thank you Steven. This was the song my daughter and I chose for the Father Daughter dance at her wedding 11 years ago. Such a beautiful and meaningful Sone that is a delight to waltz to. God Bless you!
Evening Mr. Steven Curtis Chapman! I haven't heard this beautiful piece of ministery music and video in quite awhile. I wasn't sure it was even on RUclips? How wrong I was! Happily. God bless you fellow Paducah, KY'ian! Love you and your whole family dearly SCC. I still remember well when The Herb Chapman Family lived on S. 5th St. in Paducah next door to my cousin's Judy Martin's home and family. You grew up with my 2nd cousins Mollye Francis and Mark Anthony Martin. Mark and his wife LaMara own and operate their own heat and air company and an insulation and aluminium siding company here in Paducah. Mollye Francis and her husband Jim live in Hawaii. Mollye is a flight attendant for Hawaiian Airlines and her husband Jim is a Real Estate Agent on the Big Island of Awahu for ERA. Though their mother is long dead and their father absentee God has remarkably blessed them and the whole family. God bless you and your family Sir! Love you in the Lord Brother!
This song was written about his daughter that was taken from him way too soon. God has used this man to gain the incredible courage and strength to write the very song that will always remind him of his daughter in a positive way. She lives on thru this song.
This song is special It was the one picked when I danced with my dad at my wedding and now having a little girl it means so much to me♥️

Such a memory to give to both of them.
): I know you"ll probably never see this, but how is she doing?
Praying for you all. The LORD is a refuge in time of need.
@@NaomiBarth the same lord that put this guy in prison and gave this girl cancer. gotcha.
How can I help
@@firstnameIastname Actually, he got himself in prison. And disease is because of us. We sinned and brought it upon ourselves. But ignorance is bliss, I suppose.
My father died 2 weeks ago. This was the song I was going to dance with him to at my wedding and my sister had danced with him to this song at a father daughter dance when she was little. It was really special to us. Listening to it makes me cry but it reminds me of the good times we had. And there were a lot of good times. I wish my dad could've walked me down the isle and danced to this song with me.
Yeah. I’m so sorry about that 😢. Mine passed away a year ago, so I understand.
My heart breaks for you. I lost my beautiful dad recently too and it's not easy.
Ashley Jester don't worry your dad is in heaven and in your heart
@@Foberswife Thank you and congratulations to your daughter!
It was my song at my wedding with my dad too ❤
Did it go as planned?
So… how did it go?
My dad showed me this song so we could dance to it at my wedding. It’s the only song he ever went out of his way to show me. He got sick and passed away three weeks after a diagnosis, but I got to his hold his hand and listen to it on his hospice bed…Though he could barely speak, he knew all of the words. it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Sorry.... hearts
♥
I kept re-reading this over and over again because every time I started to read it my eyes would tear up. I'm sorry
I'm sorry to hear that 😞
I know I could never understand the pain you must go through everyday just remember god is for you and you'll see him soon..god bless you and your family your daddy is watching you right now I hope you have a good day
I am sorry I just lost my grandfather and that's how close we were because I did not have a father so he was like my father cause my father left me when he found out my mom was pregnt
I'm really sorry for all the pain you must have at a lot of moments, but also remember that God is watching over you and loves you. Have a blessed day! (;

1. My dad’s alive and well
2. I still live with him

She spins and she sways to whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders
It's been a long day and there's still work to do
She's pulling at me saying, "Dad, I need you
There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancin'
Oh, please, daddy, please"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancin'
Oh, please, daddy, please"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh-oh-oh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight

She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
But I need to practice my dancin'

When I was 6 or 7 I wanted this song to be played at my wedding, so I can dance with my Dad. Now I'm 14 and I still want it to be. I'm just scared, what if my dad isn't here in the next 10 years. It's my dream to dance with my dad to this song. It makes me cry
aw I have the same dream! I will pray that you and your dad get to dance to this song someday soon!!😀
i hope you get to!
I went to a wedding, someone I went to church with, just on sept. 3 and this was the song she had her daddy daughter dance to.

This song is my father and my sisters song... my song with my dad is butterfly kisses :) 🦋💋😘
I danced to this song at my dads wedding and out side of a hotel with him at another family member's wedding
❤
I've only got a little more than 2 weeks before my princess gets married. I hope I can hold it together when we dance to this song. It seems this song was written for her and me. Ever since she could walk, she would dance around the house. As soon as she could talk, she asked me to dance with her like the prince in Cinderella.
That is so sweet, I hope you held everything and that she is happily married :)
TaraLPS Thank you! It was tough but I did hold it together! I just watched this video again yesterday because all of the wedding pictures just came back and to me, the best pictures were the father daughter dance. But I am biased! :-) Her and her new husband are doing great. Thanks again.

I cry each time hear this song. My daughter got married 2 years ago, and I asked for one favor: to play this for the father-daughter dance. She started crying her eyes out and so did I. This song personifies the deep and endless love a father has for his daughter... thank you, Steven!!!
Thank you for being a great dad.
Gonna dance to this song with my daddy at my wedding. ❤️

This song makes me feel for those without fathers or father figures in their lives.
The only father we all need is our heavenly Father though, his love for us is greater than anyones.
Amen!
This is our song.”
Fast forward to now me being 20, our relationship isn’t as strong as it was.
I pray you will be reconciled with your dad. I never had a dad. I long for one.
🙏😢
He’s not the best dad in the world yes but he is the only dad you will ever have. I pray you go past his mistakes and love him the way he is.
I'm praying you and your dad would be able to repair your relationship.
I have literally the exact same experience except I danced on his feet at a gas station parking lot
It's YOU!!! YOU'RE LUNA! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU! GOSH!
Is this actually luna? Cant be…

Hi, If you are Luna, I'm so glad to hear that your life is good and I hope that your husband came back from deployment all in one piece.
If your not her, well I'm equally as glad that your life is good. Yours, Ann

This is the perfect daddy daughter song for a dance.
It really is.
I'm playing it for my friend's sweet 16 party during the daddy-daughter dance
This was playing at a father daughter dance I went to :)
when I still had daddy daughter dances in school, they always played this song and I always cried. I'm a daddy's girl so :)
Ya me and my dad are doing a daddy daughter dance for his wedding with this song
i agree
*tries not to cry*
*dad walks into room*
"I DONT WANT A PRINCE ANYMORE!!! DADDY DANCE WITH ME!!"
*Bursts into tears"
Well, this song just crushes me every time I hear it. It must be eight years ago since I thought of this. We still lived in our old house with the computer tucked in the corner of or small kitchen, and our 7 and 5 year old daughters would laugh and giggle and clamor for one more turn dancing on my feet before bed.
Now, they are 15 and 12 and barely have a minute for me when their face isn't glued to their iPhone.
I heard an interview with Steven and his daughter on a podcast called "Jesus calling" earlier today and it reminded me of this song, Glad I came here for another listen!
Underrated. This man is such a good singer
This song will be played at ny daughters wedding...shes only 5...she doesnt know it yet🥰

How's being a dad going???
My mom says I’m not allowed to play this song at my wedding because it’s so sad
@@impalednewt Well….. it’s poignant…. Bittersweet- it’s ‘both/and’ (as Father God warned Adam and Eve if they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good AND Evil….)
So, yes, it’s a bit sad ….and beautiful (for all the time lived together).
Beautiful! Also Proverbs 17:6 “Children’s children are a crown to the aged and parents are the pride of their children.” 💛💫🌅
This song encourages parents with ‘carpe diem’- seize the day.
Be grateful you even have a dad! I never got to dance with my dad, and he died when I was 15, so he didn't get to see me get married.

I am so sorry to hear that :( I wasn't trying to say what I had with him wasn't good enough, I was trying to say I was a bit upset that the moment was gone.

My biggest fear in life is that I won't get to play this at my wedding and dance with my dad...
same..
Your Dad's biggest fear as that you will before he's ready (which he never will be)
The song is also about being in the everyday small moments too
Don't hook up don't be easy those won't marry you
“I know something the prince never knew.”

You simply cannot listen to this without also listening to Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses." They're both beautiful songs about the joys of fatherhood.
I also recommend "Father And Daughter" by Paul Simon!
Exactly.

For all those listening who don't know, the writer/singer, Steven Curtis Chapman, lost his daughter years back. He wrote this before that.
He actually wrote it for his now grown biological daughter but when his adopted daughter died he dedicated it to her. Its such a beautiful song.

As a girl-dad, I have always looked for songs that tell her how much I love her; how much she means to be; how she is the light of my life; how I'll never leave her. This song hits all of those notes and more. Amazing song, amazing artist.
Imagine being 14 and knowing what this song is because your great grandmother who died years ago showed me this and it sticks to me like glue because its a memory of her
This is the song I'm gonna dance with my dad to on my wedding day

I wish this was me and my dad. My dad never seems to think I do enough. I always try to make him proud but it just feels like I can't. We aren't into the same things. I'm not even close to anyone in my family. The person I'm closest to is my brother.
Keep your head up I also wish the same its like there is a distance between us
don't try to impress anyone in the world besides God. nuff said. (p.s. that don't mean be mean to anyone, or think less of them!! )
Awww mama I understand you I have two kids my self and I'm separated my oldest son is 25 and my daughter is 15 and my son became his father because there dad hasn't been there for them I'm preparing my douther her Quinceañera and my son is gonna dance the valse with her.
Me too...only my boyfriend wants to dance with me... :'(
As a father, I just balled reading this. I have two beautiful daughters, I'm not always the best father in the world, but I tell them how smart and beautiful they are and that they can do anything in the world regardless of their gender. You are valuable and awesome, I'm sorry that your father never saw the "good enough" in you.
I have decided that if and when I get married this is going to be the song I dance to with my dad
Me too.....BEST and most tragic....SONG EVA
Me too
Me to and I am going to cry so much...
in a year my sister is getting married, she's done so much for me when I was suicidal I would have never been here without her.
This song will always have a special place in my heart with my girls. Dang onion cutting ninjas always show up when I hear it.
Ditto
even as a teen boy my self, not a parent, this song of his child growing up is just so saddening to me though I love it, because of the very reason that you could have that joy with your daughter, its all worth it I think, enjoy the times that you have
the music vide breaks my heart even more so sad but I LOVE IT
Can barely listen to this song and With Hope by Steven…
I’m a blessed Papa watching his little lady and baby boy (and soon boy #2!) grow right before my eyes.
Had this song played for someone I knew at her 21st birthday party .Was a blessing to see her and her dad dancing .Made me smile .
He came to Fresno and sang this song. 💕 I loved it!
My husband and I dedicated this song to our daughter at her wedding. Thank you Steven for such a very beautiful song
My daughter selected this for our father-daughter dance at her wedding last week. I can't listen without crying like a big baby now. :)
I'm dancing to this at my wedding with my dad and I cry every time I hear it. How am I supposed to get through my wedding?
I'm thinking about dancing to this with my dad in may at my wedding and I'm bawling right now
Make the dance moves difficult and elaborate. Then you are concentrating on that more than the song.
This song was written about his daughter that was taken from him way too soon. God has used this man to gain the incredible courage and strength to write the very song that will always remind him of his daughter in a positive way. She lives on thru this song.
No, actually he wrote it mere months before she died. It took him a long time to sing it again after the death. He wrote it for all his daughters.
Even the inspiration behind this song is so sad. I could definitely see using this as a wedding song for the daddy-daughter dance
So true
Thoughts on it being sung at my best friends wedding?
Danced this song with my dad on my wedding day in 2018. I will never ever forget that beautiful moment.
I'm literally bawling my eyes out! This is my favorite song ever!
I'm so sorry about your daughter.
I watch this all the time still crying
