I’m in Atlanta right now I used the wide lens 10-18mm the most I’ve ever used, it’s nice for family pictures 😮and architecture 😊and the 18-135mm is wonderful for walking around I’ve been having so much fun thank you for the recommendation! Now I just need to remember to bring more batteries for the next trip! I didn’t bother filming videos on my camera, and I did time lapses and videos on my iPhone and brought a little pocket stand tripod to work with it. Simplicity is key!❤
Hi Ken, another great review with nice photos and the colours were great to look at. The interior of the Mercedes was like i was sitting in the car, great shot. Thanks Ken. 😊
@@KenRockwellTV yes! You are only the 3rd person in 15 years to figure it out. It was my nickname when I used to drag race my turbocharged car. I would run 30 lbs of boost on 110 octane.
Thx for this review! Looks like a perfectly decent lens stopped down s bit, and here is my question. I see quite a few YT reviewers complain that some kenses are not sharp corner to corner wide open. I always think "well duh.. how can it possibly be?". The only case that will ever happen is shooting something very tlat like a wall at some distance where the wall is perfectly perpendicular to you. It seems perfectly normal to me that a fast lens wide open can't look sharp corner to corner in real life because it's impossible. What am I missing here?
You’re mostly correct: corners are almost always out of focus with teles so sharpness is irrelevant. It can matter shooting distant landscapes and ridges, astronomy, and as you can see even with the Porsche photo stopped down this lens failed. Works fine for portraits. Thanks!
@@KenRockwellTV Thx for the reply! The Astro case makes sense for sure. If it's bad stopped down then it's clearly an issue and I've seen other reviews noticing the off-center issue you talked about. Very nice to see cheaper but still decent to good options coming out.
Great as usual KR can't wait for your expert real world hands on with the New Z6III wondering if you think it's super good or just ok ? because on paper Z6III looks better superior than one of your all time favourites Canons R6MkII.
What’s on paper doesn’t matter. It’s never been about specs or pixel count or ISOs. It’s always been about the camera getting out of your way, and the Z6 III looks pretty much the same as the II. See all the differences at www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/z/z6-iii.htm#new , none of which address the basic flaws in the Nikon Mirrorless system. Nothing new, for the 25 years digital cameras have been popular what has really mattered has never been on paper or in specs. Thus we’ll have to wait till I get mine. Thanks!
@@KenRockwellTV character... I have tried 40mm f2 for F mount and loved it, that's why when 75mm was announced I started looking for reviews and comparisons... but it is almost none. Those lenses are all made in Japan, so quality wise.. they are not worse than Nikon, only that they are fully manual makes them kind of step back to retro times...
“The poor man pays twice,” meaning people eventually get what they want, thus they just paid twice rather than buying what they wanted in the first place. Not sure if this is what you’re saying. Thanks!
It’s most likely one of two possibilities that I’m investigating. One is that maybe I’m nuts and put that stuff in as Easter eggs for my observant Romanian friends. Another possibility is that I have a shop in Romania do my editing, meta tagging and manage my channel, and one of those guys decided he’d put in some baloney to make me look like an idiot, figuring I’d never see it. Which do you think is most likely?
This will be a good brand lens for my old Z6 for my daughter to practice on..the z6 has gone down in value and it has come to the point if my teenage daughter abuses it and break it i won’t cry🥲😂

@@KenRockwellTV 18psi is a lot of boost to run on 91-93 octane. It must have really good knock sensors, and EFI management.

Yes it is, but the dynamic range takes a decent hit because of the partially stacked sensor

i would get the 85mm 1.8 G for the nikon. it's kind of the same price used. I use that lens with my GFX 100s it's that good.
It is! Plasticy, and good. Almost all 85mm f/2 and f/1.8 lenses have always been ultra sharp - just not this one - but it does autofocus.
Your samples were all taken in Program mode?
Mostly. Also auto white balance and auto ISO. All JPG normal and usually at just medium (25MP) resolution. Thanks!
P means Pro!
Nice review ;) can you check out Voigtländer Nokton 75mm f1.5 Nikon Z some time to compare with Nikon ?
Does that VT lens autofocus? I dislike off brand lenses; what advantage would that VT lens have? Thanks!

An older friend of mine, who had money, would be cheap special purpose lenses to try them out before spending money on the good stuff.
