    Tip: If you find a product that you don't love after trying it, but don't want to waste it, consider donating it to a women's shelter. Someone will be truly grateful for it!

    Doing your hair in the middle of the night: Because sometimes you have to strike when inspiration hits. I find that's when I get the best results! :)
    I have completely natural type 1b classical length hair, and it amazes me how much of our hair routines is the same, and what parts are different. This was fun. Thanks.

    Happy New Year 🎆🎉!!!
    This reminded me to do a clay mask treatment after I do a hot oil treatment because I just purchased a heated cap for Christmas and I'm super excited to use it. Also I'm looking forward to your trimming video. I've never trimmed my hair before, only ever did a big chop.

    That shampoo makes my hair tangle so bad. I tried it once, then I gave it to my brother. He has waves, so it's perfect for him. I agree that you needed to detox with a clay mask to reset your hair. I said to myself that it wasn't as shiny in your last video. I pay attention to detail lol. Your hair length and health are goals for me. I'm coming along well since ive learned to leave my hair in twists unless I'm going somewhere. But since C19 hit, I'm home 99% of the time. I'm physically disabled and have immune deficits so I'm not taking any chances. But leaving my twists in my bonnets, silk scarf and satin-lined beanies has kept my hands outta my hair and it's grown about 16 inches in that time period. I've never retained that much length before.
    I do clay masks every 6 weeks or so and it's really helped me retain the hydration from washing and deep conditioning every time I wash my hair. I also steam my hair while I deep condition. I can go from wash to wash without remoisturizing. But I wash my hair every 10-14 days. Anything longer and my scalp starts screaming for help lol. I also prepoo with a fenugreek and aloe vera prepoo that I learned from SheRea DelSol. It's amazing! I do it the night before I wash my hair and leave it in. When I rinse, it's so soft and strong at the same time. And I don't have to detangle again until I style. The next time you do a prepoo, you may want to try it. If you add heat, it'll just take about 30 mins before you wash.

      Washing hair with shampoo twice a week?? Our hair (black hair ) will not do well with stripping it so often , maybe a cowash but definitely not shampooo

    • @Afrodite96
      @Afrodite96 Год назад +21

      @@laylaaselby2381 I don’t personally believe that myth. That’s why I think she should experiment. She often experiments with not washing her hair so why not the opposite? Plus she uses plenty of heavy products to help retain moisture to the hair strands once it’s washed. The reason her hair is dry, breaking more often, etc is because of her lack of consistency with washing her hair to remove old product buildup. Clean hair and scalp promotes healthy growth and retention.

      @@Afrodite96 I concur. I can barely go 2-3 weeks without washing my hair. The tangles would be a mess. Honesty washing my hair every 2 weeks and stretching it has given me so much retention and NO tangles!

    Same. After recovering from being a product junkie (thank God) I have to finish a product before getting to another one. If I don’t like a product after giving it couple tries with some tweaks I just hand it over to my sister who has a looser curl pattern than I do and if she doesn’t like it, it’ll continue down the line. Haha with a family of 11 females someone will end up liking it or the product gets used up.

    Q: What is the longest period of time one should keep cornrows in to retain the most length + new growth ? At what point should one take them out to avoid damage ?

    • @jamperry6847
      @jamperry6847 Год назад +6

      I know you’re probably looking for her answer, but I can chip in! I think it honestly depends on your personal hair and level of patience. If you have very thick, strong hair (full of protein), you can probably keep them in longer. Either way, length retention comes from your take down method. It’s important to take down using your fingers and a detangler or conditioner to really get that slip. It’s also important for you to NOT LET THE CONDITIONER SIT ON YOUR HAIR FOR TOO LONG. Especially if it’s been a minute, you’ll have a lot of shedding that will only cause more problems and knots if you let conditioner sit for too long.
      I bring up patience because, no matter how long you’ve left your hair in, you’ll need to be gentle and patient when taking them out. Using conditioner helps with slip, but if you rip out your hair because of impatience, well, you won’t see your growth haha
      I hope that helps too! 😊

      I keep mine in 5 months MAX anything longer I’m sure my hair would knot up lol. It definitely depends on your hair type and health.

    • @1GoldenBreeze
      @1GoldenBreeze Год назад +2

      I'm sure she will pop in to give you her answer. I would say that It depends on your hair and your hair care while the cornrows are in. It also depends on who you ask. I don't know how to cornrow so I've never worn them or any of the styles that many naturals call protective.

    • @weirdmyst7963

      However long you like to me. If you keep them in for 8 months and detangle without being harsh, you do that.

    Is it possible to trim your hair with the mask on bc I notice that my hair is more stretched with the mask or would the clay ruin the the steel overtime?

    • @tiahnarodriguez3809
      @tiahnarodriguez3809 Год назад +1

      It would dull your shears faster because it makes it harder to cut the hair. If you don’t like using heat, stretching your hair with twists or braids would be a better option than stretching with clay.

    hi, happy new year! i've been keeping in mind your hair care tips and doing a hair growth challenge with you too🤎🤎
    in 2022, my hair grew quite a bit so i thank you for the motivation and hair goals inspo haha.
    pd: i'm still not near at all to my length goals but im just going to be patient and trust the process, the shrinkage makes me think my hair has been at the same length for 3 years lol, but it hasn't!!
