Claire does end up in the sewers in RE2 remake tho, it’s literally the same sewer section of the game as Leon’s campaign right before the umbrella section. While yes they don’t go in the exact same way with the examples being Leon & ada going through kendo’s gun shop while Claire and sherry end up going underneath the orphanage, they still end up in the same sewer section
I think Revelations 2 deserved much better. IT combines best parts of Actiony Residents with best parts of Oldschool ones, also the whole plot having so many references to Kafka it's insane. And despite lack of Bossfights, the ones that happened were fun
@@charaznable8072Like they don't have the same gameplay, protagonists, they contribute to the lore. I support you if you are referring to spin off (outbreak, suevicor, chronicles, etc.) but not with revelations, they are just as important as the numbered ones and the veronica code
I kinda hate this, especially when the main criticisms you seem to have are “it doesn’t feel like a resident evil game” if every single game felt the exact way you wanted it to the series would’ve gotten stale years ago and died. Changing things up and incorporating different gameplay elements is what makes the series good. Not looking at the originals then hating anything that isn’t an exact copy of them
That's not how game series works, you can improve your game and mechanics without getting rid off the essence of it Call of duty was always a first shooter, just like Fifa was always a football game Well, Resident Evil should (at least in the main line game) be a puzzle/survivor horror game, that's it
@@sthepcorms6747 You took the words right out of my mouth I could not have said it better my guy. Its so sad these kids these days will never understand the awesome point you just made.
The worst part of 7 was the lack of enemy variety. Village was a great game, do I prefer 7 over it? That depends I guess but overall Village built on a lot of cool ideas 7 had imo.
I think RE6 redeemed itself with its amazing multiplayer modes. Back in the day when the servers were full of people, Mercenaries and Predator mode were fun as hell. Also Capcom held tons of events which were interesting and they also rewarded extra costumes.
I think a lot of people just put together "bad game+bad writing." And forget about resident evil 5, and resident evil 4 which jump-started the whole action oriented side. The original re4 for me was a bit ridiculous at times with the action and over the top.. acrobatics. The remake felt more grounded and was actually scary/challenging, something the original lacked. Now is the story for RE6 lackluster? Yeah a bit could've been better written, but as a gamer I really like to look deep into things a bit to find the good. The characters are probably my main example. Leon is still a badass who's willing to become an enemy of the state to clear someone's name, and still has that drive to eradicate bioweapons and save as many people as he can. Chris is hell bent on revenge for the death of his team, and he's more in a darker place than he was in re5. To me that's very uncharacteristic of someone like him. Regardless we see Piers and the BSAA take him back, and he works through that trauma and in my eyes. Piers' sacrificed himself because I believe he saw what I did, despite all of his trauma, Chris will continue the fight despite any odds or losses, because it's what drives him to fighting. In some words, it's easy to destroy the world, fixing it's the tough part. Jake has led his whole life being a mercenary, being the son of the best antagonist hands down in any survival horror franchise. He sees the destruction BOW's cause and throughout his time fighting through the hordes with Sherry, puts aside his anger and greed for the good of the world. The story might be poorly written, but the characters themselves I could really empathize with by just looking past all the "negative." I apologize for the ginormous ass comment 😅
@@robertwhittie8928no need to apologize I agree with you heavily. To see RE6 just reduced to “bad game” seems to be very shortsighted and lazy reviewing
@@sergeantsnugglez3228Not completelly just not good for re standards because as a game itself it's pretty fun it's just not what you would expect re would be People say it's a bad game but the game itself isnt bad it's just not a good re game whenever someone calls re6 bad i think they should always say bad RE game but not bad game as a whole because it isnt With all that said i think re6 is a good game and people would receive it better if it didnt base itself on resident evil and actually was something else
I just completed the og RE4, and the Regenerator part scared the crap out of me, I felt genuine fear when I was going up against them. Using that Infrared Scope and hitting them just right was difficult for me because I was so scared of them and the weird breathing sounds they made. Nightmare fuel!
Even in the re4 remake, the regenerator was terrifying, it was the only time I think I was genuinely scared in the game except for maybe the Ashely part
I might be biased because it was my first resident evil, but I really don't understand the hate for re6. It may not be a good resident evil game necessarily but I had so much fun with it
I had a ton of fun with the game too, but realistically it's not a great game overall. still super fun tho. coop is a banger @@washyourmouthoutwithpope1334
RE3R is a great game that is just too short. I agree Nemesis could have been more threatening, but I love everything in it. Just not enough. That said, it’s shortness makes it incredibly repeatable. And I love the depiction of Jill, a great character, performance, and character arch, just stuck in short game.
RE3R was factually a longer game than the original RE3 and honestly the new nemesis was better in every way. The original was annoying and didn't really bring a sense of fear.
I enjoyed it the first time I played it. But when you compare it to RE2R, it just doesn't hold a candle to it. Especially in replay. Everything is dumbed down. The puzzles, the herbs, the keys, the inventory management and the combat. Knives don't wear out and you can hit the dodge button to get out of almost anything. I just think the game designers were lazy or ran out of money. The only thing I liked about it were some of the visuals and Jill. And that spider nest was pretty cool.
I recently did a Nightmare Mode run in RE3 remake and that run gave me a new appreciation for the game. If a lot of the Nightmare Mode enemy placements and choices were the way the game is by default it would still be amazing despite it's short length. RE3 is an overhated game that's actually really good. Imo, it has the most replay value in the franchise next to the RE2 remake obviously. Was it worth $60? Probably not, but neither is a 100 hour game that most people don't have the free time to get through. If RE3 remake was released for $40 instead or had some of the Nightmare choices as the main game in general and some of the cut content was still intact it'd be my third favorite in the franchise. But as it stands, it's a B tier game that's really good but held back by a couple things.
@@armyofuno8196 I'd ignore them. They're clearly just trying to bait people into being upset because they have nothing better to do. It's why I haven't said anything to them myself. I know better.
Just finished RE7 for the first time ever yesterday, and you are right. I think the game could've been better if instead of the boat section, the house was made longer, or had 3 floors. I barely saw Jack chasing me as well, wish he had come outside sometimes.@@shadow6543
Nice!! I currently have platinums for RE0-RE5 (OG4 & RE4), CVX, & currently working on RE6 but took a break to catch up on some game reviews. Trying to finish FF16, layers, rain code and a few other games before I jump back into my 100% goal lol. June & July has been slammed with game releases!!
I love Resident Evil 7 and 8 mainly Ethan's voice and Resident Evil 7 brought me into the series from when I watched it. I love hearing about these games and the remakes are fantastic I have every game possible on Xbox Series and I totally agree Resident Evil 7 being scary it feels so tense and right
I would 100% put re Village way higher. I think that you may be overstating how much it went in the wrong direction. I do think it got a little too action heavy but I think increasing the scope of the game is necessary because it would no longer make sense to make ethan go through another bakers incident but just repainted. Personally I think it took the horror/action mix straight from Re4. Both open almost the exact same too with a dreadful fight where you have to hold off a weird village in the middle of nowhere until they run off. I think it gets hate because it wasn't what the last game was but I think that's what makes it so good. Sure it may have some more action than it did in RE4 but it holds the mixture of that action with horror very similarly. It went into the direction of the past few games where 1-3 Resident evil was terrifying and 4 had a great balance of action and horror. The only thing I fear is they don't go overboard with the action like they did in 5-6 in Re9. I truly think that Village is an incredible game that doesn't deserve to be placed where it is on your list.
Its literally an amazing mix of the 7 first person pov atmosphere and re4. Its literally amazing how fresh it feels, with the whole snowy village, the amazing castle, so many things. I hate the fact that so many horror diehard fans hate on it when in fact a huge number of people just want some fun in other aspects as well like exploring backtracking etc. Also re3 remake above village? I hope capcom keep up the good work with 9.
It felt like RE 8 was a celebration of the entire RE franchise, with ideas borrowed from every single RE game. However, I would have to agree that it was slightly unfocused and the final push was not very good, although still quite a lot of fun. I think they need a more focused effort for the next game, because while I admire all the effort that went into it, pleasing everyone will be impossible (that was the path of RE6 and that failed).
It falls off quite a bit in the last half. The intro, Lady D's Mansion, and the dollhouse are all great. Moreau's area was just ok, and heisenbug's factory was just a totally different vibe that didn't work. Then the Heisenburg boss fight jumps the shark and the game ends with a bad Chris section and an underwhelming boss fight. It's not a bad game, but it's difficult to reconcile when the game just kind of gets worse and worse as it goes on and leaves a bad final impression. It's one of my least favorites of the main entries. I think I'd only put it above 5 and 6.
You pretty much stated the fact that makes this game an overrated one : it is re4 remake before we got re4 remake. It's a rehashed idea with all of the beats of re4 and overpraising means you will get more action than horror in future titles. Which like he said, re is horror, not action. We keep making the same mistakes which are to let capcom turn our franchise into an action one to appeal to a wider audience.
I actually didn't mind 6. Yeah it was to long and some stuff could have been trimmed/left out but i still had fun. I also liked Jake as a character as I feel there's a lot you can do with a character like him (sins of the father etc) And minus the large amount of quick time events (which i never had a major problem with) it plays well. If you squint your eyes and pretend its a different third person action game i feel people would enjoy it more
I feel like Jake and Sherry should be the main story with unlockable background to find how Leon and Chris end up there and then the secret/unlockable Ada story to see the villain story
I love RE4 and its Remake, but I totally agree the new one is better, there are just some parts of the original where you get to an area and you just feel miserable because the area is a total drag to get through, the remake has either reworked them to be better and more fun like the cart ride, or just removed them altogether, like when you have to scour that massive area for the one enemy that has the fucking key card. Also I love the ability to move while shooting.
lmfao the remake is a way fucking worse experience, literal downgrade in everyway. the original was hand crafted with love and care and is still one of the best games of all time. the demake does nothing but shit on all of that and use its popularity to try to sell copies, much like modern cinema. pump out garbage to sell high numbers, forget about product, move on.
@@bearzdlc2172 sure, that's why gamers who've never played the original are reviewing it highly, I see you got them nostalgia goggles welded on your face
@ Part 4 dumbed down the formula for casual simple minds I wouldn’t put it in the top ten RE games. The remake is better but still felt more like an over the shoulder action shooter.
RE6 the things that I like is that sherry is in the game with some super power with her infection with the g virus. And piers, his unique sniper rifle quick shot was so bad ass.
I subscribed. I like the fact that you are open about your bias against co-op on horror, just any bias in general honest reviewer. I hate co-op as well. Haha, love the video
Thanks! Much appreciated for the kind words. Yeah, I always try to be open and straight forward about my thoughts and the fact that each and all of my rankings are mostly based on my own personal opinions and perspectives.
Resident Evil 5 is a game I really enjoy to replay sometimes, I enjoy the levels and the Chris vs Wesker conclusion. I usually play on co-op online, it's so amazing to play with someone else. I understand the AI is the worst as a co-op partner.
Re5 is my favorite game in the series. I never had an issue with the ai til I played pro mode though. One hit dying status and then half second later because the ai is so far away that they aren’t even if Africa anymore lol
@@kageplays4559 I reallu enjoy the game too and I got all trophies. Max difficulty was a pain for the One hit damage. I think that the giant boss was the worst fight.
I wouldn't have put Resident Evil 3 Remake that high, because it's just SO short, I platinumed that game in literally one day, it took about a week to platinum 2 Remake. I like the content that is there, don't get me wrong, and I actually never played the original at all, but even then it was still too short a game, especially after having played and platinumed 2 Remake for the first time only a week before I got 3 Remake the contrast in length was startling.
That’s totally fair. Tbh I have just seen myself revisiting resident evil 3 remake a lot more than some other games on the list. The length of it is a big reason I didn’t put it too much higher (even though og is shorter), but I did have to put it at least where I did because of how many times I actually revisit this game already despite it only be a few years old.
14:07 It's hard to say whether I would see RE3r as a disappointment or not without the original RE3. I never played RE3, but I know a lot about it. My friend never played RE3 and he didn't like RE3r much. However I do agree with your placement of it in the list. IMO, RE3r is decent because it is an RE game with RE mechanics, so it's just kinda fun playing through the game. My issues with it have to due with how the story is told. The Nemesis encounters, Jill getting hit and blown away by a rocket and survive, Jill being an ass towards Carlos for... not a very good reason at all. "I know what a radio is". Stuff like that just hurts the game for me.
Good list but RE2 feels pretty action-packed especially compared to RE1. The zap system is truly where that game shines and it's a shame the remake didn't do it justice.
RE2 Remake is the first Resident Evil game I played and while I really liked it, I found the 2nd run quite underwhelming. I expected Claire to go around RPD and find her way to the NEST some other way. It was almost completely the same game tho. There were a LOT of inconsistencies both with the story and gameplay. Now that I learn about this zap system, I wish they implemented as well. It would at least fix the inconsistencies in gameplay aspect.
As someone who never played the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, I was able to fully and completely enjoy Resident Evil 3 Remake - not as good as 2 Remake - but still a very enjoyable game.
I feel that if i did forget about the old RE3, I'd still have some gripes with the remake. Like how you need to use a green herb for the Creatures in the power station instead of blue herbs and how Nemesis had many moments that he could've killed Jill, but didn't for plot.
To be fair, that last point is just part of the entire series' bad-yet-enjoyable charm. All of the main characters have plot armor for days...decades, actually.
my first games i played in the re series were re2make followed by 3make. i loved re2 but thought 3 was definitely lacking in comparison with nemesis nowhere near as threatening as Mr X and way too short. it’s honestly the only story game i’ve played that made me go “that’s it?” at the end
i definitely agree with the top 3 list, to the point where even the original RE2 is still my all time favorite RE game of all time, i even got the clothes and the keys for it.
Despite RE1 Remake being my favourite in the series, you definitely made a great argument for your #1 Pick. Great list! Not too far off from what I'd put in my own selection.
@@brianwt1 The fixed camera angles add to the charm and claustrophobia, in my opinion. That said, it can definitely be frustrating when you're trying to move somewhere and the camera switches the second you try and move your character around.
The only thing I dont like about your list, is how you described 6 as a "bad game" and tried to make your *opinion* sound like a fact and tried to justify a lot of other peoples negative opinions to speak for all fans when you said "everyone agrees its a bad game" Plenty will disagree with you gladly including myself. I personally believe its a great game in its own right. Its just (obviously) heavily action focused. It was the only RE game that really tested its audience to see what could work in the future moving forward. It offered 4 different campaign experiences, and welcomed new and old characters with a multitude of different content to bring everyone together. I could go on about how it is a good game, but seeing some of your statements in the other comments I can acknowledge why you're not a fan and respect your opinion. RE6 isnt a game for everyone. Otherwise, nice take on your own list.
That’s fair. You’re right, seems I misjudged the game and a lot of people do see it as a good game. I think what I meant is that most of the fan base would agree it’s the worst of the 16, saying fans agree it’s a bad game though was the wrong call on my part. Thanks for the feedback!
I think re6 is overhated. I kinda enjoyed the gameplay. Yes the action was too much, but that action was very much enjoyable for me. I think it failed as an RE game, but ignoring the fact that it was an RE game, it was actually highly enjoyable.
You said it failed for being re game but your reason is stupid because resident evil word is used for franchise because it only sounds cool more than biohazard otherwise the resident evil word truly belong to re7 and 8. The classic should be biohazard but resident evil sounds more badass and cool that's why. So don't misunderstand by the word resident evil. They are action packed because should've. They don't have conjuring type horror like 7 or 8. They are action based according to its professional badass characters like leon and chris.
That and how scripted Nemesis is are definitely my only problems with it. The game still has small puzzles here and there even if they're on the easier side, enemy placements in Nightmare Mode during the Sewers, Hospital, and fuse sections are brilliant, and the dodge mechanic feels rewarding to master. Makes me want a new RE game with Jill just to abuse that same dodge mechanic in a longer game.
One thing I do think 6 also did right was Piers. He’s the only reason to replay Chris’ campaign, but the character depth we get means that I’ll never forgive Capcom for killing him, and thus I have to admit they got it right. Still think it should be in last place though. Great ranking!
Originally RE4 was my favorite in the series (haven't picked up the remake yet). It was the first one I owned and was able to finish a playthrough of. When I was a kid I had friends that had the original RE and RE2 on the playstation but I didn't have them so I only ever got to see parts of them played. Since then though I have now played through the remake of Resident Evil and RE2 (RE2 remake is now my favorite in the series). I have just recently picked up RE Director's Cut, RE2 and RE3 Nemesis for the original playstation. It's kind of a system shock to get moving in them but I'm determined to play these original games of this series. Really enjoyed this video of yours. Thank you for your content :)
Right on the money with the rankings! Old schoolers that played back on the ps1 felt in love with the psychological-ambient horror aspect of franchise and RE4 original and remake as good as they are, they are more action oriented.
Older audience like myself will rate the older games much higher but it was more than just the horror as the stories Was well written combined with the characters and the location settings was more imaginative and better scripted
I would love to see Shava's character return, she's a foreign agent who joined the BSAA because her home was infected. She's a solid, compitent character. Shava in cutscenes: 🥶😎😈🤠 Shava's AI: 🤡💩🥱🙈 Edit: it's the AI in general, if you play as Shava, Chris is the same way
Cool list man! For me Resident Evil 7 is my favorite, yeah i know hot take but this was the game that got me into Resident Evil so i got kind of a different persepctive. I still remember when i was in high school i was playing this game back to back, beat it like 20 times.
I understand if you don’t like RE6, but I totally disagree that it’s a bad game. It’s fun as hell, the mechanics feel smooth, the partners are good, the graphics are amazing for the time, has easily the best mercs mode, each character has their own unique gun that only they can use so even playing thru the same story twice can feel sort of fresh…. It’s just very very little survival horror so I can see why it gets the hate.. but if you go in wanting the action it’s awesome. It may not be what you’re looking for, but it’s not a bad game.
I might agree with you on the mercs, but yeah sorry I still see it as a bad game. It tries too hard to be so many things. If it was focused on just trying to be an action game like I felt like RE5 did then I could understand that. But to me, It feels like it doesn’t know it’s own identity. But that’s the beauty of this community. Seeing different perspectives from people who see things differently. I totally respect that you think it’s a good game and I’m happy you had a better experience with it than I did.
I can tell by your rankings that the horror factor is the thing you weigh the most so I see why you don’t like 6, I just take issue with it being a bad game overall. I believe that it actually IS just as focused on action as 5, aside from the chapter 1-1 where you’re forced to walk through the university. It’s diversity is actually a strength, not a weakness. No other game in the series has 4 completely separate and unique stories that only cross over a few times. Everything in the game was well crafted and came out exactly as they wanted to, as opposed to 7 and 8 and 3make where you can literally feel parts of the game being rushed. It may have been disappointing for its lacking in traditional horror, but I just don’t like writing it off as a bad game, bc if you play it like a 3rd person action shooter it’s just as fun if not moreso than 5 due to the improved game mechanics like the partner, movement and inventory.
Again all fair points. And you’re right I definitely prefer the horror over action. I’m not saying it’s a bad game because of the action. I just feel like for me, and it’s completely just my opinion so I totally get disagreeing with me, but it’s a chore to play for myself. It’s the only mainline game I don’t enjoy playing unfortunately. A big part of my rankings was based on which games I personally revisit the most. I’ve revisited most of the series over again and again, even re5 & re4 og which both lean heavily into action. I just don’t enjoy going back to re6 and don’t like it unfortunately, but I’m very happy to hear it has a fan base because it shows just how wide spread the series is and how great of a community it is to have such diversed opinions.
Good list, but you forgot twoo mainline titles: Resident Evil Survivor an Resident Evil Dead Aim The R. E. Survivor game is briefly mentioned in the intro of Resident Evil 0,thus making him canon. R. E. Dead Aim also is canon even touht it isn't mentioned at all in all the other main titles. Altouth both titles would most likely be on the last places of this very good list, most likely beneath Resident Evil 6. P.S. you just gained a suscriber keep up with the excelent work.
RE6 was a good game; I'm so sick of people complaining about it being more action packed vs the usual puzzle quest to find that one item you didn't inspect for 20 minutes. It was a very fun game and definitely lived up to what RE should be since the whole sit in place A for the whole game and find underground place B isn't even fun, its boring as hell. If you didn't understand the story I'm sorry that you have poor compression skills 😂 Yet somehow people think Bio and Village are goated because of Mold and some tall fake vampire lady with a fat ass. RE6 is in my top 5 so Cry me a river, good day and goodbye.
I agree to me what makes a great Resident Evil story is leaning into survival horror, I really enjoyed 7, RE2 Remake and RE4 Remake for their stories, Village was good but it unfortunately fell apart after the doll house and lord that factory level just too long. To me Horror will always important part of the series, action is fine, but it shouldn't overtake what the series stands for. The RE Engine is just fantastic in delivering a beautiful experience.
I feel like I'm the only one here that did not experience any major problems with the AI-controlled Sheva in RE5. I saw lots of videos showing how bad the AI was but I never encountered them so my single player playthrough was relatively smooth and I even got all the Achievements without much issues.
Yeah same! I don’t understand people saying the game is unplayable with AI partner. There are a few instances where she will heal you too early but it never stopped me from progressing through the game. Except maybe at the last boss fight where she burned through all the ammo!
Pretty sure RE5 is my favorite in the whole franchise, with RE4 remake and original as a close seconds. I understand the flaws it had, but I undoubtedly had the best time with that entry on release. Edit: I think me being obsessed with Wesker may or may not enforce some bias in this decision
Lol fair tbh when I first played RE5 I think I actually was obsessed with it. It brought back a lot of my favs: Chris, Jill, & wesker. But overtime I think my appreciation for it dropped a bit since my original play through all those years ago
My favorite Resident Evil is probably the remake of the second game. Revelations 1 was my first resident evil ever and holds a special place in my heart.
Should I play the Chris campaign of RE1 Remake? I only played as Jill years ago, but I am thinking of revisiting the game this time with Chris. I don't mind replaying the same parts, but I hope his gameplay is different. Maybe he has different puzzles or enemy encounters.
It’s the exact same game except you don’t get a grenade launcher, you don’t have Barry rescue you at times, you don’t have a lock pick, and you have less inventory slots. There’s also you starting with a knife only but it’s only briefly & I don’t see a point in mentioning it. I think it’s worth playing it again though as Chris adds a slightly more difficult time for player due to the lack of the lock pick & less inventory slots, but if you’re looking for completely different gameplay then I wouldn’t expect that
I think Re3 remake just suffered from cut content + the price at launch. This was a $30 game that they made full price because of that game they included it with.
I remember being super excited then reading that they cut out Streets, Press Office, clock tower, fuel station, park and a good chunk of city exploration
RE6 was fun as hell if you played with a friend. Playing it solo was a no go. One of my favorites so I disagree with it being the worst. I've put more hours in RE6 then any other resident evil game.
Revelations 2 is way too low. The first time I played it, I thought it felt like a natural progression of th gameplay that RE4 started, and added things like stealth and a dodge. Also, the asymmetric gameplay makes the game stronger, imo. It gives both players something different to do. And with one character being underpowered, you can't just breeze through enemy encounters. I've actually done playthroughs as Moira and Natalia. You can participate in fights as well, especially after unlocking some abilities, but you gotta be smart about it
people forget that the dialogue in most OG Playstation, etc, games, was a new phenomena and added to the media. I remember because I started playing Commodore 64 and Atari as a young kid, then NES, etc
Great list! Personally having finished RE Village recently i would have put it higher. I think that it was the scariest game in the series. There were parts that had me sweating lol I really enjoyed it.
I disagree but I totally understand the perspective and respect that! Other than the baby monster, the rest didn’t really scare me. I find RE7 the scariest in the series… maybe I do a ranking of them in terms of scariest next?! You gave me an idea lol
@@forzatech9482 I almost took my computer and threw out the window when that happened to me. I think I am terrified for the rest of my life because of the DLC
@@NerdSpaceGamesThe reason why your list is so different to most people is because you are always expecting some kind of horror in any RE game, hands why you put RE8 so low. I am not saying that’s bad thing, everyone has their own tastes for games, but I feel like if you are expecting something specific from a game to be repeated in the entire franchise, than I think you’d preferably replay 5 games on the list rather than all 15(fuck RE6 Lol).
My issue with RE3 remake is that it feels like a downgrade to RE2 remake. You lose counterattacks, the inventory feels more clunky, it wasn't scary, the forced play as a secondary character section didn't let me play as a hot asian girl (/hj), and I prefer having a separate selection for my knives and grenades instead of my 4 gun slots.
Most people that hate it, it’s because of how short it is or they compare it to the original (specifically the cut content, branching paths, & nemesis being more scripted in remake). It’s why I consider it a good game, short, but just a bad remake.
i’m so glad you got some plays on this video! because honestly man… it makes no sense to have that intro to this video lol, if you cut all the intro out and when straight to the video actually rolling. sooooooo much better and I bet you would have doubled the plays.
MY number 1 RE game is RE4R, hands down, by a LONG mile... RE2R is my number 2, with RE3R, RE7, and RE8 rounding up MY top 5... now i need Capcom to remake RE5 with the same engine and controls as RE4R... the way i see it, the OG games were GREAT, for their time.. but, as with everything in life, things EVOLVE... OG re2 is NOT better then RE2R... no way, no how.... back in 1990's, tank controls were great, but now, in 2023, there is NO scenario where i would EVER play a game that uses tank controls
Totally get your understanding and I definitely respect your point of view. For someone like me I like both the tank controls & modern controls. Hence why my top 4 features all 3 gameplay styles. But I can easily see why people prefer the modern controls over tank controls. But I like the original for more than just the tank controls. The music, the zapping system, and other elements I liked silently more than the remake but that’s just my preference 😅
@@NerdSpaceGames i used to love tank controls.. until Capcom released RE4 on the GameCube back in 2005... that game changed my outlook on video games, and especially changed my view on tank controls.. 3rd person over the shoulder is so much better... as for the music??? if i choose to, i could play any of the remakes with the OG music soundtracks, but music on these games has never been a deal breaker for me... you';re not the only one i know who raves about the re2 soundtrack.
@@VALxTheEpicGamer OG RE 4 also had tank controls (so did 5), you are refering to when they are paired with the fixed camera angles. He wasn't just talking about the music, he was talking about the zapping/scenario system (the 2nd run from the remake doesn't count), it's iconic characters (who were mostly different in the remake, not a bad thing), and some other cool things from the OG. I started out with the 2 remake and checked out whatever classic games were avalible to me they aren't very difficult to use (and I'm legally blind) but I do understand that they aren't coming back. Even so we should do our best to preserve and enjoy these games as people worked hard on them and they help us appreciate how far this series has come. I understand your opinions though.
@@VALxTheEpicGamer Yes it did, It has the exact same control type as the older games. Tank controls refer to the way you move and attack, they have nothing to do with the camera. The 3rd person camera does make it easierto control though but many new gamers still find OG RE 4 difficult.
R3 remake is a bad remake and a very good game. However, the time it takes to complete does not justify the price at the time even tho I would die to play as Jill 😂 its too short even for a horror game
Here's my hot take. Resident Evil 6 itself was not a bad game. I seen another comment point it out, but story missions aside it introduces a good amount of multiplayer content that we haven't seen before. But with that out of the way, I enjoyed not only Leon's campaign, but all of them. While it may have seemed like an action game when playing as Chris you have to be mindful that it is his job to eradicate BOW's. It's not a necessity to play his campaign, or anyone else's for that matter. I think the appeal is in the fact that there's a little bit for everyone, and it's rewarding in it's own right by allowing you to see the events of the story unfold from the perspective of others within the campaign. I think it was a really cool idea, and can respect the creators tried something new. But that's just my opinion.
Personally I really enjoyed re6. Is it a good *resident evil* game? No. But it’s fun, and it has a lot of replay value (if just for the multiple versions of each campaign.) I loved the combat system, the melee especially. The qtes felt WAY less intrusive than 5 (probably because it’s either 1: you got caught/messed up, or 2: in the middle of the action.) And I loved seeing all the characters again, especially Sherry. It’s messy, but that’s kind of why it’s so fun. It’s not my favorite, but it’s definitely above 5 for me. I don’t really understand why everyone complains about 6 bc of stuff that started in the previous game, too? The co-op, the heavy action, the cheese, all that jazz. That wasn’t new to 6, in fact I think most of it (playing with an ai partner especially) is way more bearable there. But take this all with a grain of salt, I was born after the OG re4 came out. RE’s been an action franchise pretty much my whole life lol, I didn’t go into anything expecting good horror.
I have to say I’ve watched a lot of re ranking list and you put it in the best terms that I agree with. As a die hard re fan I feel like I’m in the minority when it comes to 8 and 4 however I would say I would have put 8 higher. It however gives me the same feeling that I felt when 4 came out that the franchise was going in the wrong direction. Doesn’t take away from 4 and 8 being great games but they lead to bad games following (5,6) imo. Code Veronica remake could be the best remake of all if done right and that’s my thoughts thank you for a great video!
for sure man! Glad you enjoyed the video! I hope Code Veronica gets a remake and when it does it surpasses all expectations. I want to to do really good!
I agree with so much of this. OG 2 is definitely the best in my opinion. When 4 came out I lost interest as it stopped being Resident Evil at that point, then picked it back up again when 7 came out. Great video, must have taken a lot of work to make it!
6 was good. Just became trendy to highlight the flaws at the time and that became the core focus for everybody. Does a lot right with the co-op and some clever set pieces
Agreed. I like RE6 and I got annoyed early on in the video when told that "if there's something all RE fans agree on is that it's a bad game". Played it with my bros and we had a blast. Enjoyed how all three campaigns felt and played differently and how they interconnected with one another.
Resident Evil 2 (1998) is also my favorite game in the series and it was my introduction to the series when I watched my cousin play it when I was a kid.
Wow Resident Evil 6 at number 16 what a surprise am I right 😒. It sucks I just beat the whole game with my little brother a few days ago and had a good ass time and now to see the game get treated like shit a few days later.
I’m sorry my dude! I played it recently and while I don’t think it’s as bad as most say, it’s still not my cup of tea. Hell I have a lot of fun with the Leon campaign actually if that helps 😅
I loved Resident evil 6. I played it with my small cousins and they were scare and existed on the Jake mode when you have to hide from Ustanak on the trash cans. They also loved Chris campaign, and liked playing as Piers and when he died on the story they were actually sad even tho they don’t speak English and they didn’t understand half of what was going on. Resident evil 6 is definitely a fun game. Is a good game. Is just not a game for survival horror fans.
I love resident evil five and six they were awesome games. I’ve literally played every single resident evil game seven was terrible. It ruined the franchise for me. It’s not even like a resident evil game at all.
I don’t hate resident village lol. Actually I don’t hate any of the games on this list except maybe re6. Just prefer others more as I’m more of the horror fan of the series
I loved RE8 I think it has a almost perfect balance of horror and action. The ending was crazy in terms of how much action but to me it makes it memorable. The setting was perfect too
The original resident evil 2 is my second fave game ever it’s personally my fav sequel to a game as well I play it every year on my bday sometimes even 2 times it’s such a classic and it will never get old to me
Revelations 2 that low is crazy. It has the zapping system, one of the best combat in the series, good tension with horror elements. This is one of the perfect blends of horror and action besides Re4 Remake. Also raid mode. Probably the best side mode in any Resident Evil game. The customization, enemy variety, and levels are spectacular. Edit: Re3 Remake gets a lot of hate. I like what they did with Carlos and the combat and dodge. Other than that I don't like it that much. I don't like it because they removed the decisions in Nemesis encounters, his encounters in Remake are seen from a mile away besides the one time he goes through the wall near the fire alley, they basically made him a bitch. He was able to kill her in CUTSCENES multiple times not during gameplay. The length doesn't bother me because RE Nemesis is short. I can explain all my rankings if people disagree, but my list is: 1) Re1 Remake 2) Re4 Remake 3) Re2 4) Re2 Remake 5) Re3 Nemesis 6) Revelations 2 7) Re4 8) Re7 (Main Baker house, Jack Baker, and Happy Birthday Puzzle carry. Every thing else was mid at best. And yea the final "decision" barely changes anything. I only played it once, but it might go higher with more playthroughs. I tried playing a 2nd playthrough, but I realized I have to sit through all the cutscenes every single run lmao) 9) RE CV 10) Re5 (My favorite with about 13 playthroughs lmao. But I know its rightful place) 11) Revelations 1 12) RE3 Remake 13) RE6 Haven't played 0 (Will play eventually) or 8. Never playing it. I knew the direction they were going based on the trailers. I watched my friend played the whole game, and I was never eager to play it. Glad I didn't buy it.
Honestly resident evil 7 is my favorite. But it has alot to do with the fact I played the whole game in VR. So no other one has made me feel the same feelings i did playing this one
As a person who has not played OG RE3. I really dislike RE3Make. My main problem is that enemies feel like they attack at random and you have to guess dodge often especially the tentacle head guys. I also dont like Jill's character, she feels invincible and angry and I cant find her relatable. Eventually I'll try again to play it so I can say I've finished all the numbered games, but it frustrated me to the point I felt like I was wasting my time.
Heavy disagree on RE8
Yeah it's ranked too high
It's one of the worst in the series. Doesn't make it a bad game though and it's still way ahead of the genuinely awful RE7
@@MorrisseyMuse say it again for the people in the back
@MorrisseyMuse 7 is just like the first couple but in first person it's genuinely one of the best in the series. 8 is not I will give you that
7 and 8 are great games just bad resident evil games. RE 4 5 and 6 are terrible
Yes it's lazy and they're two different deaths to the mother of Cherry
I think Revelations 2 deserved much better. IT combines best parts of Actiony Residents with best parts of Oldschool ones, also the whole plot having so many references to Kafka it's insane. And despite lack of Bossfights, the ones that happened were fun
I just love it for Barry FUCKIN' Burton
Honestly Rev 1 and 2 shouldn't even be considered mainline because they aren't.
Honestly, he completely lost me with ranking RE R2, OG RE1, and RE8 so low
Barry is great in this game, but he's right about the weak and gimmicky co-op. My biggest problem with Rev 2, however, is that it's completely linear.
Not looking at the originals then hating anything that isn’t an exact copy of them
That's not how game series works, you can improve your game and mechanics without getting rid off the essence of it

The worst part of 7 was the lack of enemy variety. Village was a great game, do I prefer 7 over it? That depends I guess but overall Village built on a lot of cool ideas 7 had imo.
Fair enough!
Village could have been so good if it had good puzzles
@@Wat3rCoCkThe entire Beneviento house is a set of good puzzles and fake-outs.

There's reason why we consider regenerators some of the scariest resident evil monsters.
I disagree with almost every single placement but you were so respectful I can't be mad.
Except for 6, I love that game.
I might be biased because it was my first resident evil, but I really don't understand the hate for re6. It may not be a good resident evil game necessarily but I had so much fun with it

RE3R is a great game that is just too short. I agree Nemesis could have been more threatening, but I love everything in it. Just not enough. That said, it’s shortness makes it incredibly repeatable. And I love the depiction of Jill, a great character, performance, and character arch, just stuck in short game.
don't forget Carlos! Great improvement to his character as well tbh
Agreed. I just hoped for a director's cut for a while.
@@usgpillarofark3980 same here, still hoping!

Re village is my top number 1 RE . It's the only one I have beaten 5 times and the only one I have platinumed
I also liked Jake as a character as I feel there's a lot you can do with a character like him (sins of the father etc)
And minus the large amount of quick time events (which i never had a major problem with) it plays well. If you squint your eyes and pretend its a different third person action game i feel people would enjoy it more
In that aspect both Jake and Sherry played off with each other well (Both have powers due to their parents misdeeds)
I feel like Jake and Sherry should be the main story with unlockable background to find how Leon and Chris end up there and then the secret/unlockable Ada story to see the villain story
its not a terrible game but its not resident evil. probably one of the most disappointing games ive ever purchased
Agreed!!
lmfao the remake is a way fucking worse experience, literal downgrade in everyway. the original was hand crafted with love and care and is still one of the best games of all time. the demake does nothing but shit on all of that and use its popularity to try to sell copies, much like modern cinema. pump out garbage to sell high numbers, forget about product, move on.

I can’t count how many times I replayed Resident Evil 2 since I was a kid until today, never get sick of it.

It's hard to say whether I would see RE3r as a disappointment or not without the original RE3.
Yeah I think the game sucks and I haven't even played the og
To be fair, that last point is just part of the entire series' bad-yet-enjoyable charm. All of the main characters have plot armor for days...decades, actually.
my first games i played in the re series were re2make followed by 3make. i loved re2 but thought 3 was definitely lacking in comparison with nemesis nowhere near as threatening as Mr X and way too short. it’s honestly the only story game i’ve played that made me go “that’s it?” at the end

Plenty will disagree with you gladly including myself.
Re6 is the most underrated video game i have ever played
As someone that never played the original Res3 I can say I enjoyed the remake and my only gripe was that it was too short
Just wanna let you know .. I hit that sub button as soon as I heard you say RE is def your favorite video game franchise of all time. Big facts
This was a pretty solid list, I personally would have put code:veronica higher but I fully agree with most of your top 5, especially the top 2.

Thanks!! Means a lot every time to hear someone is liking the content. Much appreciated ❤️
I would love to see Shava's character return,
she's a foreign agent who joined the BSAA because her home was infected.
She's a solid, compitent character.
Shava in cutscenes: 🥶😎😈🤠
Shava's AI: 🤡💩🥱🙈
Edit: it's the AI in general, if you play as Shava, Chris is the same way
Sheva*
I think you can definitely play 5 on single player mode. I did and just pretty much used Shiva as extra inventory. I'm not a co-op person myself.
Yeah I have too but that AI for Sheva can be rough. I think it’s better than it used to be as they tweaked it since, but back then it was awful
You can command her to do thing like stay where she is or go ahead and fight or just use sheva
agreed i recently played it for first time and it's really overhated
Give them a sniper and you’ll probably like the ai more
Cool list man! For me Resident Evil 7 is my favorite, yeah i know hot take but this was the game that got me into Resident Evil so i got kind of a different persepctive. I still remember when i was in high school i was playing this game back to back, beat it like 20 times.
Hey nothing wrong with loving re7. Its definitely one of the scariest games out there tbh
It’s bad, can’t call a game good when it has issues with the camera 😂
I agree to me what makes a great Resident Evil story is leaning into survival horror, I really enjoyed 7, RE2 Remake and RE4 Remake for their stories, Village was good but it unfortunately fell apart after the doll house and lord that factory level just too long. To me Horror will always important part of the series, action is fine, but it shouldn't overtake what the series stands for. The RE Engine is just fantastic in delivering a beautiful experience.
Not only in delivering a beautiful experience, but it is a hell of a lesson on how to make a optimized engine that runs well for most setups
Yeah revelations 1 was my first one too and it’s just soo good to me so seeing it that low hurt my heart😭

They cut one somewhat big part out and a small part...like he said the length of the game didn't change whatsoever
I remember being super excited then reading that they cut out Streets, Press Office, clock tower, fuel station, park and a good chunk of city exploration
The original Resident evil 2 was my introduction to the series and the survival horror in general. I love that game
Great list.
@@NerdSpaceGames I was in the factory with the dudes with the drills in their arms and also the DLC with the mannequins 😨😳😳
@@LukeLunnyea the maniquin part of dlc was scariest part of all re games. I got jump scared by them a few times when they grab you. 😅
Where is that music at the very beginning of the video from? It sounds so familiar
It’s just from a free to use horror track off of RUclips lol
Re6 last is crazy
My issue with RE3 remake is that it feels like a downgrade to RE2 remake. You lose counterattacks, the inventory feels more clunky, it wasn't scary, the forced play as a secondary character section didn't let me play as a hot asian girl (/hj), and I prefer having a separate selection for my knives and grenades instead of my 4 gun slots.
Ngl I actually loved the remake of re3. Idk why people hate it
I love it too except that it's way too short.
Most people that hate it, it’s because of how short it is or they compare it to the original (specifically the cut content, branching paths, & nemesis being more scripted in remake). It’s why I consider it a good game, short, but just a bad remake.
i enjoy all resident evil games and i love resident evil
i’m so glad you got some plays on this video! because honestly man…
it makes no sense to have that intro to this video lol, if you cut all the intro out and when straight to the video actually rolling. sooooooo much better and I bet you would have doubled the plays.
@@JG004-kk1do NO, OG RE4 did NOT have tank controls... OG RE4 was pure 3rd person over the shoulder... OG RE1,2,3,CV ALL had tank controls...
@@VALxTheEpicGamer Yes it did, It has the exact same control type as the older games. Tank controls refer to the way you move and attack, they have nothing to do with the camera. The 3rd person camera does make it easierto control though but many new gamers still find OG RE 4 difficult.
resident evil is one of the franchise where I honestly dont think I could rank them because theyre all special and I enjoy them all about equally
This is probably the first list I’ve ever come across that I agree with 100% …
Oooo that’s not easy to do lol
Me too, would only change RE8 position to a better position
8:30 great introduction huh I feel you, i feel you... 👀
i am an unapologetic re6 lover 😭
Respect!
your ranking is so weird? most of RE fanatics and like me played all re games didn't understand how you rank those games.
Nahh this list is crazy
I’m sorry 😭
@@NerdSpaceGames no hate tho it’s your opinion!

RE7 may not be the best game, but it is my favorite
Understandable especially since I view it as the scariest lol
Fuck everyone, for me is the best of the series by far 🗣 followed by the remake of re2🤪
Why does everyone hate Village so much, it's honestly top 3 for me alone with RE2 and RE4
The setting was perfect too
its fucking terrible. there's literally no replayability, the whole game is either cutscenes, slow walking to places or bullet sponge bosses.
I can explain all my rankings if people disagree, but my list is:
1) Re1 Remake
2) Re4 Remake
3) Re2
4) Re2 Remake
5) Re3 Nemesis
6) Revelations 2
7) Re4
8) Re7 (Main Baker house, Jack Baker, and Happy Birthday Puzzle carry. Every thing else was mid at best. And yea the final "decision" barely changes anything. I only played it once, but it might go higher with more playthroughs. I tried playing a 2nd playthrough, but I realized I have to sit through all the cutscenes every single run lmao)
9) RE CV
10) Re5 (My favorite with about 13 playthroughs lmao. But I know its rightful place)
11) Revelations 1
12) RE3 Remake
13) RE6
Haven't played 0 (Will play eventually) or 8. Never playing it. I knew the direction they were going based on the trailers. I watched my friend played the whole game, and I was never eager to play it. Glad I didn't buy it.
