I love how hard Josh Brolin comes across as Gurney because his desperate delivery of the line "They're not human they're *brutal*" really sells the menace of the Harkonnens
This trailer took my breath away. And it's just the trailer! Villeneuve was born to direct Dune, and the cast is insane. Exactly how I imagined House Atreides and the vicious Harkonnens. This will do for Dune what Peter Jackson did for LOTR.
After many times of watching the trailer, and now just after watching this reaction vid to it, I think I'm realizing that it might be the greatest piece of visual art I have ever experienced in my life. And it's just a trailer.
@@nemomarc7841 I cannot think of a worse actress to play the part. If it was a small role, I can handle her. This is a major role in the film and she has no acting skills, is not attractive and has absolutely screen presence whatsoever.

She doesn’t have that big of a role in the book and she doesn’t in the movie which is why she is narrating so she has more screen time. So that should make u happy 3. She’s definitely not the best actor but I’ve seen worse. You’re obviously exaggerating. 4. How does being attractive have to do with good acting? Plenty of ugly people are good actors 5. Chanis character is fairly generic so it’s not like Zendaya can fuck up too much. People thought the same when Heath Ledger was announced to play the Joker but look what happened… he surprised everyone. Just try to at least be open my dude

The moment, the SECOND..! I saw footage of Rabban, I knew this would be ~GOOD!~ But it was the casting (and later stills) of The Baron that totally sold me! At LONG last, they cast (IMHO) THE GREATEST, Most *EVIL!* Villain, EVER (Do note the caps and Bold text!) put to page in all Sci-Fi, PERFECTLY! Baron Vladimir Harkonnen - The Villain other villains WISH they were! Oh..! Can't wait to see your Harkonnen collection! 1000/100.
I cried a few happy tears too especially when Paul was talking to his dad. I've reserved today for hype but tomorrow I'm gonna try to push it out of my mind or else I will go crazy before October
saw it twice in germany. its the best movie since the lotr series. the imperial sardukar are badass here unlike in the 1984 version. go watch it guys so we get a part 2.
This was an awesome trailer, It looks soooo good to me. I think this is the film we need right now. It is timed so perfectly, assuming it is after the pandemic and such. I think people need something like Dune to really blow them away. I can't imagine this failing. And, yes, do a breakdown. It gives everybody a chance to watch it again! And, honestly, try to watch the Dune miniseries. If you can stand the silly fashions in Dr. Who, and 2000 SFX, you can get through...and then the Children of Dune, which, IMO, is a very high bar for this film to reach, in a story telling way. I love it.

Wonderful trailer... and reaction. Let's hope it does well. Do you think the fedaykin armour that Paul wears near the end with the opening visor is hoping to attract comic-book film teen audiences? It needs them to watch to succeed.
I found the book interesting but a bit of a slog to get through. But I can see how it could be a fantastic movie, especially with Villeneuve at the helm.
Keep in mind that the books were written in the 60s or 70s. Back then it was less about bloody battle scenes and more about themes. Books from back then are diferent to us.
This trailer felt like a trailer cut by the studio to bring in general audience. But, for us book readers we see everything that's supposed to be in there in it. Denis really gonna give us a theatrical DUNE. It will be a GREAT movie...and probably bomb at the box office. 😂
I can only hope that you're wrong about it being a box office flop, since this is supposed to be a two-parter, with the making of the second part contingent on the first one making a decent amount of money. No money, no part-two movie! :-(
It seems like most of the trailer footage is from around where the first film ends, or where I'm assuming it ends, when Paul and Jessica escape onto the desert with Duncan. I'm assuming the film itself will end after the dual and water ceremony.
What I like most about the look of this movie is that it's the perfect blend of the aesthetic of Lynch's Dune, and the SyFy Dune (less so), with Villenueve's own touches to all of it. It looks like it SHOULD look. . Whereas Lynch's Dune was a bit too anachronistic for such a technologically capable civilization, and Syfy's was far too Star Trek for such a primitive and backward culture.. . By contrast...Jodorowsky's Dune would've looked like half-rotted shit on a pile of used tampons.
Not really seen in the trailers yet, look up the guy who's playing Thufir Hawat. Tell me that dude doesn't already look like a mentat before even getting makeup.
It makes me so happy to see Paul picking through the timelines, even though it doesn't look anything like how I envisioned it. They aren't shying away from that. Or the jihad/holy war aspect either, given how prescient Dune was about the consequences of Western colonialism in the Middle East.
I'm still in curmudgeon mode. I won't be convinced it's great until I see it, and it turns out to be true, because contemporary movies mostly suck, even when they try hard not to.
Why are you pronouncing the names with long A's or vowels like Spanish, when the Lynch film was told by Herbert how to pronounce the names and they do not use Spanish rules. Allyah, not Uh lee uh.
Oh, it's totally fair that I could be mispronouncing some names! Dune names are hard. I have only seen the Lynch film a few times, so my name pronunciation attempts come from my best guess from the book or book discussions that I've been a part of. But thanks for pointing that out. :)
You can't make the movie Dune in one movie. You need at least 3. Ask Peter Jackson. That's why this movie isn't going to be any good. Plus, you got a lot of miscasting and that music sucks. I would have started with the Butlerian Jihad.

Keep in mind that the books were written in the 60s or 70s. Back then it was less about bloody battle scenes and more about themes. Books from back then are diferent to us.
The book made me really think about things, like time, religion and politics. There’s just not that many books that can do that.
I saw it 6 times so far, 5th time at IMAX!

When I read Dune most of the production design in my head is from Lynch. Might read it again and replace the visuals.
