    You know our country used to teach these invaluable lessons, priceless and timeless as they are, in home economics... But then somewhere along the line we became consumers of goods, no need to fix when we can buy. I prefer a more realistic approach to consumerism. I like to buy people's inventions and their neat things, but I also like to hang on to my thinks and, as you said it, enjoy them all over again and give life to a favorite pair. I enjoy this part as much as the purchasing part. Thanks a bunch for this video. The world needs you.

    Thank you! I didn't know why my belly button was irritated and painful until I felt the edge of the inside button which was extremely sharp! I was going to try to sew a patch over it and then decided to check RUclips. Now I will just remove and replace with a sewn on button on ALL my Lee jeans. Thank you again!

    I have a related but very specific question. I want to make a set of buttons for a pair of jeans I am having made to measure. I want to make the buttons out of silver. I'm a bench jeweler so forming the metal isn't a problem, but I don't know what winds up holding the front and back together. You mention a plastic part. Is that located in the shaft in the front piece? My initial thought to just make silver fronts compatible with standard backs. Any guidance you can provide would be most welcome. Thanks for the video.

    Hi! Question, does removing the button damage the button? In wondering if 8 can preserve it for other jeans

    Kay what if your buttons came all together right away and you have to separate them?

    If the button is loose should we put new one or just press it harder with hammer?

    If u wish to make the waist looser a bit. How can u put a brand new button? Thank you

    • @MeganNielsenPatterns
      @MeganNielsenPatterns  10 месяцев назад +2

      That's a good question - if you move the button over slightly then you can gain a little bit more ease in the waist. However keep in mind that your fly won't sit as flat anymore an it may end up putting more pressure on the zip :)

    Thank you, what if the button hole is not in good shape? I bought some used jeans and it seems like the button went through the hole, leaving a hole way too big. Should I just put a patch inside so that the button has something to attach to?

    • @MeganNielsenPatterns
      @MeganNielsenPatterns  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Lola! That is a frustrating situation! My strategy would be to do as you described - adding an interfaced patch to the inside to strengthen the waistband and provide something for the new button to attach to. Good luck!

    I recently lost the button on a pair of chinos. Can I use this method on non denim pants?

    • @MeganNielsenPatterns
      @MeganNielsenPatterns  10 месяцев назад

      You can absolutely use this method on any garment that has a shank button :) Good luck!

    How do u replace it if the Jean is not in good condition. My button is in good shape it’s just falling out the hole??

    • @MeganNielsenPatterns
      @MeganNielsenPatterns  Год назад +4

      That's a great question! In that case I would remove the button, sew an interfaced patch of fabric on the inside of the waistband to stabilize and bridge the hole - then reinstall a new button :) i hope that helps!

    I want to replace the button so that it will fit me a little tighter. Can I reuse the button or do I need a new one?

      Wondering this too. edit: read another reply she left and the button does indeed break when taking it off, you need a new button.

      Hi Maisie! Unfortunately no you won't be able to reuse it, this will break the old button. You'll need to buy a new one to reattach :) Good luck!

    Any tips for dealing with a hole that is bigger? I got my child a pair of overalls, which uses a plastic button behind a false rivet, instead of the typical jeans button and buckle. I want to replace it, but the rivet that is in place for looks seems to have a larger hole than this.

    • @MeganNielsenPatterns
      @MeganNielsenPatterns  10 месяцев назад +2

      That's a tricky situation! If it was me i think i would remove the existing button/false rivet and then add an internal patch of denim to reinforce the area and fill in the hole. That way you have a blank slate to work with :) Good luck!
