Thanks for the tips. If anyone is on the fence about packing cubes being a pointless extra expense I cannot recommend them enough. I went without them for a long time and now I’ve got them everything is so organised and you can fit so much more in your case/backpack. A cheaper option for anyone who doesn’t want to buy them could be reusing bags that clothes have come in, for example I know Shien sends clothes in reusable bags so things like that are always an option x

I really need advice about how to connect with campers and how to get them to want to be involved with what were doing

honestly a big part could be the camp values, ensure these are things you like and would be able to help teach your campers, make sure that camp offers the program you’re looking for if you’re wanting to be a specialist. During an interview I would always ask about time off, what the food is like, transport options to and from the airport, what full camp events they do and ask them what previous staff members have said about that particular camp!

@@victoriawhitehouse704 great advice, thank you so much!! i signed up with BUNAC last week and have been admitted into the hiring pool today, but have found the idea of there being 300+ camps to look at a little intimidating. how do you suggest navigating it? have an amazing time in australia, cannot wait to see the content

@@octobersveryown3468 so I would try and narrow it down to a state in America you’d like to work in, maybe take into account where you might like to travel to after camp and find an area based on that! Think about whether you’d like to go to a mixed camp or work at a girls or boys camp and you’ll find it narrows down quite quickly!
