Good ol' Haswell even a decade later those 4th gens are really not that bad. That i3 is not a quad core it's a dual core that's hyper threaded making the system report it as a quad core. Also the sudden onset speed issues are typical of a dying hard drive. It may be cliche to say but swapping it out with a cheap SSD will really breath new life into that laptop.

a entry level SSD with the same capacity as the hard drive already in that laptop can cost ~$25. So it's not out of reach even for someone your age.@@saldoesstuff
@@saldoesstuffYou can find a decent SSD (maybe 128GB) for under $20. It's completely worth it, and should make the boot process about 10x faster (along with everything else).

if you wanna speed it up, just backup the data from the c: partition or drive and slap a new stick of ram and a new ssd and it will run like new. i had that laptop and did the same but it's screen broke
I used to use much slower one than this one. It was a HP laptop. The CPU was AMD Athlon Neo MV-40, GPU was ATI Radeon Xpress X1270, it had a 160gb HDD and a whole 2GB of ram. It ran a stock windows 7 home. After maybe a year I remember that it used to load for like 30 minutes to just get to the desktop. I used to play Minecraft 1.8.8 (newest version at the time) with optifine and on lowest settings and 2 chunks I got about 15 FPS. PVPing was very hard but I got used to it. It also was overheating in summer and shut off after playing for 2 hours, even after replacing TIM and blowing the dust out with a compressor. I have good memories about this laptop and it still suprisingly works to this day, except it just won't run windows 10 and it's taking literally several minutes to just load youtube and it sounds like a jet engine.

For some reason it worked in puppy linux.
17USD for a 256GB SSD will solve slow downs... If it will serve for casual browsing & games consider getting Xtreme LiteOS 10 or take it as a chance to move to Linux (a more secure option) 😎
(I did all that to an old Acer Aspire from 2005 but choose LiteOS 8.1 because its faster & more snappy on old Intel965 graphics)
well there’s 2 hdds, the main windows drive and another one, im not sure whether the main one is under the panel i opened or somewhere else or even if it could be a NAND drive if that’s even possible, i might buy a cheap old pc later on and try to fix it!
Get a cheapo SSD for under $20 and an extra stick of RAM and it'll fly. I've got a nearly identical machine and it's doing great as a file server with the upgrades.
As in most cases, the only problem with this laptop is that the system runs on (a probably dying) HDD. Swap it to an SSD and all of a sudden it'd become useable. Pretty much every machine that has at least an i3 (whatever gen) still can be used for basic tasks without significant slowdowns if you throw an SSD inside.
damn... I thought I had a slow laptop.. but this... I resetted it, installed an ssd and install ubuntu on it. Now its running fine
Remember that a computer is not like a car which runs slower as years pass. It is usually additional software or operating system clutter which bogs down the CPU.
I have 12 yr old ones that are way faster.
As a lot of the other commenters said, it isnt a terrible laptop on paper. but the presumably 10 year old mechanical hard drive, and amount of ram are holding it back, throw an SSD and another stick of ram in it and youll have something that at the very least can play HD videos and handle minecraft on low settings
i know it’s just that no one can buy me a new ssd and i don’t have a credit card and can’t buy stuff online neither do i live near computer stores

Actually he can play minecraft bedrock edition with lowest render distance and low settings but Java is going to bust up with that model
As the 4 cores are actually decent enough to run some older games but as long as the laptop have a gpu, if no gpu then that's going to be a bit of a problem while running any games.
Did it come with windows 10?
If not you should've kept the original OS on there.
Spend a few bucks for a SSD drive and try booting it with Antix Linux... I bet it will be a very different experience
Your device is fast sufficiently. The reason why you waited about 10 minutes for your device to boot is because you are utilising a n HDD and it's completely fragmented. You must defrag it boot-time to make it faster. If you call it slow, then you have never used Samsung N150. It's slower than your device 10000000000000000000 times.
I used to have that problem and I factory reset my laptop and it worked fast how it shows be

Some Linux gives off that Aesthetic vibe the one I am using has a classic start menu that isn't cluttered and scattered everything is just there where you need it and no bloatware Microsoft has definitely gone downhill these years since Windows 7 and Microsoft enjoys hearing themselves preach you should turn the laptop into a Linux and back up your data on a flashdrive make sure the hardware supports what Linux distro you want to use first.

my chromebook is fine. yeah all it can really do is very basic web games. but it runs everyone website without much lag and i even got minecraft running at 60 fps (with mods)
@@cyby124 yeah if you get a decently specced chromebook it is very viable for most people, but our schools really just get those celerons that take years to load anything 😭
@@user-91291 mine has a celeron n 4020 2.80 ghz 2 core. pretty trash but does not make mine take years to load.
A couple of things which might help download the free version of CCleaner and let that do a full scan as there are sometimes hidden junk fails. Also run windows disk defragmentation and the windows disk clean up tools. I think there is something junk wise at that time but a full virus scan help in such situations.

I still have my old lenovo laptop with a amd e1 1-2000 which is a god awful 1GHZ DUAL CORE that I used to play gta 4 and just cause 2 a lot at 20fps from 9th to 12th grade. I still game on it when i have free time mostly for masochistic reasons.

When you were in the device manager you should’ve went in to “Human interface devices” and updated the trackpad driver and maybe the trackpad would start working.
I recommend you use windows 8 u will notice the difference between the performance

Had similar, but not as extreme, experience with my old laptop being slow and stuttery because the HDD had many bad sectors in it.

wrong, it's the acer aspire 5. when it runs tf2, heavy crashed the laptop. same for roblox studio, teardown, minecraft.

Well, I have lenovo laptop too. But mine is newer ideapad model, made in 2022 (purchased it in 2023 June). Well, by default it use NVMe SSD. Well, Apologize... if my laptop is too fast and too smooth to operate
I even Installed Video Editors like Filmora 13, CapCut for Windows, Corel programs, even Ps and Ae. It may make minor lags, but not as terrible as what I expected

I have the same laptop (which I'm currently using) but there were two thing that were different from yours, I have an old Lenovo boot up screen which has the same logo as the one on the laptop, and the operating system was Windows 8.1. It wasn't slow until it 2 years or something it started feeling slow, apps were unresponsive, some would crash, and even the laptop would get BSODs (Blue Screen of Death) and I hated it, I even realised that support would end on January 10, 2023. But when I was trying to install Win10, the setup would just crash, a year later, in 2022, my pc had to be repaired because of an error that would pop up just straight after I closed it, and when I got the laptop back, the man had installed windows 10 on it, I was happy and sad because I thought I lost all my games and personal files, but they were stored in a new drive ( D:) that I never knew about. Then windows 10 felt even slower than 8.1. The apps were even more unresponsive, and Minecraft wouldn't even run on lowest settings. I eventually found out about custom OS in 2023 (current year) and installed Ghost Spectre Superlite SE windows 11. I used another method to install it because I didn't have a USB to use rufus and keep my files. It still felt kinda slow but all my games were running way better than expected. And right now in this month, I found a video that Khorvie Tech made, and watched it( TRUST ME, IT'S THE BEST PC BOOST TUTORIAL I'VE EVER WATCHED.) It's also 40 minutes long though. I had a drastic improvement on my desktop and in games.
Now I don't recommend you play GTA 5 on this laptop if you have it, because it stutters just way too much.

Not bad. I tried "repair" Asus laptop with damn HDD. Windows was loading about 7 mins. Task bar search was closing on every attemp. And the funniest, when I opened task meneger laptop was showing BSOD. Thats why HDDs shloudnt be produced imo
Whenever I clear out an old PC, I set the power settings to High Performance (temporarily) just to make it a bit faster. Then I can turn it off again after I'm done. It really helped on an old OptiPlex computer designed for Windows XP running windows 10.
Till this day i still using "the considered slow laptop" with old cpu i3-3110M from my college days about 4-5 years ago. The good thing is it includes integrated gpu which is Nvidia GT 730M, and with additional total of 8GB ram and ssd, fortunately it's still run okay with some lag, without all of that i doubt it would survive my usage. This laptop have served me well to do some actively graphic design, video editing, and gaming, can't have this bad boy doing hard work any longer, so i planning to buy a replacement soon.

YOUR LAPTOP IS DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH! I have the same shit with different specs and after checking it for electromagnetic pole radiation was shocked how dangerous it was. My electrical meter started to scream at 10 cmd distance from it (EM radiation covers it fully). It also f*cking glitched and even turned off when I was trying to affect its em pole from 20 cm away!
And also it sucks when it cannot find any f*cking drivers for itself.

bro made a 2007 toshiba satilite 3gb ram intel pentium sooo much faster without ssd it was not able to even intall win 10 int was a painful process

My mac mini from 2012 used take 10 mins to bootup.....it's cursor and keyboard had a delay of 2 seconds....but I still finished the gta trilogy 💀💀💀 does anybody have a more sad story than this ?? (Lol)
My old 2015 lenovo thinkpad i5 is more faster than this and it boots about 30 sec, maybe your using hdd instead of ssd so i recommend upgrading it
I also used to use an Lenovo G560. It really was slower than your pc.It really had a Intel pentium and 2 gigs of ram and a slower hdd.
it did ran on windows 7 ultimate. Then i upgraded it to an 120 gig ssd. then in 2023 march it died.
now i currently use a HP Victus.But the ssd really gave some fast speed to it.

YOU SAID YOU CLEANED THE LAPTOP BUT IT HAS AN AVG antivirus! That's why it's sp slow! because having two AVs at the same time makes computer very clow! And new versions of Windows all have the built-in AV! also, with SSD it would load in 15 seconds! Much, Much faster than 10 minutes, isn't it?

5 ways to solve slow pc i guess:
1: Change the specs
2:Try using linux
3:Use an older OS
4:Make sure no bitcoin miner/other malware is infecting your PC
5:Delete apps that take up your performance
My laptop is 13 years old with AMD C-50 1.00GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 512 GB HDD. But it is fine to use.😌
Recently I upgraded 2GB RAM to 4GB.
I illegally installed Windows 11 Pro but it still working fine.
I can also edit video in Premiere Pro, but in 540p resolution.
Install tiny 10 or chrome os, btw this laptop have an hdd, replace it with an ssd and it will be perfect for basic tasks. I mean surfing the web, editing documents, listening to music, and GeForce Now. This i3 isnt bad, it is still better thab My core 2 duo. The point is U have an hdd while I have an ssd, so my laptop from 2007 is faster. Just replaced the hdd with ssd l, increase the ram to at least 8gb, and u'll be good to go
i'm writing this comment using a computer with exactly the same spec except 1, i've replace the harddisk with 128GB SSD (cost $60) and my laptop boot up in 12 sec (windows 10). With fedora linux took only 7 sec

my hp notebook was like this, all i did was slap a 512 gb ssd inside it and now it can even run games which require geoforce rtx(it have a 10th gen i3 prosecer and runs win10 btw)
try to change the hard drive to like a 250 gb ssd, and upgrade the ram to two sticks of 8 gb and it should speed up a little more, the cpu and gpu cannot be changed in a laptop though
tried to upgrade ram with sticks that i have but i guess those are either too old or somehow not compatible ik the cpu and you can’t be changed plus this laptop had onboard inte graphics but thanks for commenting!
It depends what kind of RAM this laptop has though... You've got to check that before plugging random sticks it. Make sure the stick speeds match, and ESPECIALLY the stick type, like "DDR3" also written as "PC3" - "DDR4" or "PC4" etc. Speeds don't matter particularly, as long as you're not going down in speed. Speed shows after PC3 or PC4 like "PC3L-12800" - You can also use the Crucial Memory Scanner thing, it'll tell you what RAM upgrades are compatible with your laptop if the ram type and speeds are oddly not written on your stick. @@saldoesstuff

I have a similar Lenovo laptop (also Haswell-ULV), but with a Celeron and a older boot screen in BIOS
but it has a 240GB SSD, so it's not as slow, even on Windows 11
