Just got one but not loving the handle hitting me in the back when transporting in up position - trying to re-adjust it somehow. Also read to put a weight on it to help keep tines down.
20 yds down the run you will need to empty it. It will create a pile of debris so large it will take you about 30 minutes of labour to pick the debris up. Look how much she has picked up in the first 3 feet. You will end up with multiple (and I mean multiple) piles of debris. The debris pile is so high you can't go over it with the mower because the mower is not high enough and you will spread your hard work all over the place. You can't wait too long before lifting the tynes because it will just create 2 neat lines of debris when it over flows and spills out the sides. You can't go around corners or sharp bends with it because it will just dump all your hard work out the sides and where you don't want it. It's only good for straight lines. You will be constantly getting on and off your mower to engage and disengage the rake, because you don't want to rake everywhere you are driving. You will constantly need to twist and stretch back to use the handle to dump the debris. You WILL get sick and tired of doing this. These are issues they don't tell you before you buy one. All stick rakes will do this. Ask me how I know all of this.
Right, that's what happens when you rake a lot of debris into a pile - you get a big pile. That alternate to that is to just leave the pine needles where they lay.
I have 12 huge pine trees that drive me crazy and it's a constant battle with pine straw and pine cones. I need something like this, how long did it take to assemble?
I don’t really know. I mostly pick up sticks and pine cones before I rake up the straw. If they’re fine branched sticks from hardwood trees it would probably hang into them.
What relevance does the "smell of the box" have to do with the product and it's performance? Your video was good but the opening of your description was picayunish.
The smell is very important for people who are allergic to latex or have multiple chemical sensitivities like I do. Smell is actual molecules of the substance so they can be be legitimately harmful. It's not just whiff of something I don't like, strong smelling tires makes me physically ill, affecting my neurological function. I power through, but it is debilitating. This is not something any company includes in their product description. I am always very grateful when a review describes the smell as it helps me decide if I will be able to use the product. Even after years of outgassing the tires of this trailer are still very smelly to me but my shed is large and well ventilated so the molecules are diluted enough to tolerate.
Ok, thanks for the clarity - maybe add that as part of your review. I couldn't figure out why you were dinging them for a "bad smell" - must be a bitch shopping.....
Thing seems to work great. Thanks for the video
Very nice. I just bought mine so we will see how it goes..🙂

Ohhh I see……so you live in north Florida!
Yah same prob here in Tallahassee

Thank you!
I don't mind the smell but then when I was a kid I thought gunpowder and gasoline were the greatest smells in the world.
I sure would like to know what music that is. I love it!
I brought one off these several years ago for that purpose. ,still in the box
I'll give you $30 for it.
Excellent video. How do you think it would work for leaves?
Leaves get stuck to the tines pretty bad. It works if they’re mixed with pine straw, but I don’t know if it would pick up straight leaves.
@@beachton Thank you for the information.

I don’t really remember. An hour or two I guess? An impact driver speeds it up a lot.
@@beachton The only concern I have is if it snags a root in the ground, I hope it doesn't damage the rake.
@@darktoadone5068 It just bounces up and over roots. The tines are pretty springy.
i have about 500 white pines
I could go about 3 feet in my yard and that thing would be so full of pine straw that it would start depositing it out the back.
Does this work good with sticks?

brand name-cost?
It’s in the description. Yard Tuff brand. It’s available from many vendors for $275 and up
It would be easier to just use a rake, that thing is piece of junk!
I’ve been using it for a few years and it helps me a lot. It’s not a piece of junk at all.
When your a senior citizen this helps tremendously, especially if you have back pain.

Not when you've got acreage. It works great - you'd know if you had ever needed one and tried it.
