@@bagginshates That is simply a fiberglass rod that I used to twist the wire that goes along the bottom of the verticle post and the end of the angled post. You can use anything but it's best not to use something that will conduct electricity and ground out the fence if it touches a wire.

Yes, I pull shorter stretches, few hundred yards, when subdividing pastures.
