***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 5 new videos every week! Tuesday through Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

It's so nice to see a video that just gives you the information you need. I tried to watch another over-produced video earlier. It had a 30 second intro (waste of time) and even included useless drone footage. I stop that one in the middle and then luckily found this video.
Thank you for just giving the info we need.

if you're concerned about the weight of the gate on the fence, get a gate wheel that will carry the weight of the gate and cause less stress on the post and fence.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. That's a pretty slick system, but i would definitely use a wheel for an 8 ft gate.

Spring loaded gate wheel works great. Put a piece of 1 1/2 Unistrut on the gate first and attach the gate wheel to that. Makes it adjustable.

i appreciate that you make errors in this and then show how to fix the mistake. Much more real that some of the tutorials i've watched... I had no idea i could turn a t-post with a wrench... I've been pulling them and restarting! That ALONE is worth watching the video for. SO this covered more than just using the Wedge-Lock. Very informative on lots of fronts. THANK YOU!

Thanks so much. My wife and I are homesteading 5 acres in Central Wash. It's all rocky with an infinate layer of limestone one foot below the soil. I just ordered a hammer drill to bore into that stone bed for my t posts. I've been trying to figure out how to do exactly what you did. So any idea you think up means someone else also has, so I did a search for corner anchoring and found your video. Haleluya! I'm 67 yrs. young, and my wife keeps telling me to hire out the fence. But I told her that there would be no money left to build our home. These wedge locks will make this a 'price of cake'. Love you, Brother.

Contact the company and tell them the problem. Then suggest that perhaps you might be able to help them with this problem. You never know, maybe this company might be willing to pay you to write new instructions. I taught art for decades and because of always being under budge or none at all, I had to find my way to support my program with willing companies who supported my efforts. The only thing they can say is either we would be glad to help you or no I'm sorry! Then you just continue to search. Great job for having foresight to figure out the problem and solving the process! Great job!

Oh Kevin this is awesome! Not just for hard ground but someone like myself with limited abilities this would make putting fence in sooooo much easier. Literally besides pounding the posts, which you’d have to do anyway, this could easily be done by anyone. You truly come up with some of the most helpful ideas on RUclips for homesteaders on a budget. You and Sarah are such a dream. I seriously adore your family. You just bring joy to my spirit. Might sound silly to some but it’s truth nonetheless. Thank you for all you do to help this community. Give Sarah and those beautiful girls big hugs for me. God Bless you all ~Lisa

We live a couple of hours north of you and have used the Wedge-Lock for years and love it. We also have a plethora of rocks. I'm just waiting for the price of rocks to come up. We'll be rich!! Thank you for this video. I would be interested in seeing how the gates hold up over time. We have permanents fence and that is one place we have put up large fence posts to hold the weight. I so much enjoy your channel. Thank you!

Floating braces work very well in this country and you only have to drive one post. Floating braces done correctly are as strong or stronger than an h brace. If you have to drive many t post I recommend renting a 4 stroke gas powered handheld driver. It takes less than a minute to drive t post in our rocky ground. Two people can drive posts for a quarter mile of fence in less than 1 hour.

Awesome video. And you are correct about the rocks in the Ozark. Having grown up here, it is about all I know. Everyone I see someone on TV dig a hole for something in like an hour or so I always think "yeah right, that hole should take all day to dig". Seriously, it takes a good couple of hours to dig one post hole. :)

I have the same problem with putting fence posts in the ground here in Canyon Lake Texas, only much worse. After the first two or three inches of soil we also have rock.. Solid bed rock! We had planned on fencing in a 1/2 acre area. I tried driving in t-posts in several places. Nope... Impossible! We settled on a much smaller area, and had a guy with a big, powerful tractor with a rock drill come out and drill every hole for a fenced area for our dogs. Three years later and we still only have the smaller area fenced!
I think Canyon Lake TX is were rocks come from, and they just haul them everywhere else.
