Genesis: The Power of Wickedness and God's Way of Dealing With It

Main Scripture: Genesis 19:1-17
Points:
1. Weakened By Wickedness: vs. 1-3
- “Wickedness can’t be completely hidden, only exposed!”
- 2 Peter 2:7-8
- Even the most righteous man can be weakened by wickedness when he chooses to live in it.
2. Sin of Wickedness: vs. 4-7
- Leviticus 18:19-22, Leviticus 20:13, Rom. 1:26-27, 1 Cor. 6:9, 1 Tim. 1:10
- Be careful not to condone something acceptable by the world yet appalling to God.
3. You Cannot Substitute Wickedness For Wickedness: vs. 8-11
- You can’t fix one wrong by replacing it with another wrong.
- Even when it is unpopular with man, do right by God, He will take care of the rest.
4. Warning Against Wickedness: vs. 12-14
- The one and only warning against wickedness is, Get Out!
- It’s no joking matter.
5. Urgency Against Wickedness: vs. 15-17
- There must be a sense of urgency against wickedness.
- Hurry up, don’t linger, and don’t look back.
Summary:
The wickedness of Sodom is a lesson for us all. It teaches us:
1. Wickedness can weaken a righteous man.
2. There are sins of wickedness
3. We can’t make wickedness right by replacing it with more wickedness
4. There must be an urgency against wickedness
Even though it’s appealing to man, wickedness is always appalling to God.
Let’s deal with it accordingly!
