I've played button accordion for 40 years, I can honestly say that I've never heard a better interpretation of these two reels.... A masterclass rendition, great stuff !!!! 👍💥🕺
Donall, thank you so much! Children really do seem to love the music in this video! I’ve had a few parents tell me the same as you. Delighted it makes them happy and want to dance :)
Hey Jim! Thank you! :D Yeah, when I started playing them years ago I defintiely had to work on the breath control. Great wee whistle! :) Do you play yourself?
+Liosa Murphy I try to play. ( "Try" being the operative word :) ) Recently got hold of a Susato, but it's not something I'd consider playing indoors. Even if my neighbours were out, I think the notes on the high register would be heard by my neighbours across the street ! :D Lovely sounding whistles though. Rather "recorder like" methinks in comparison to others. You make it sing beautifully :)
Haha! They're pretty loud of themselves alright ;) I play a couple of Michael Burke low whistles aswell. They're fab. And had bought a Tony Dixon whistle last summer, but it disappeared on me after a couple of weeks! It's nice to try different brands - you'll find what works for your style of playing and what doesn't.
+Liosa Murphy True. I am very fond of Dixon whistles indeed. His polymer high D has a lovely sweet tone IMHO, with just the right amount of chiff, and it doesn't break the budget either! :D ( I have a full set of his polymer whistles from low D to high. ) And isn't too demanding of breath either. Would love to try a Burke. Heard good things :)
