I really don't know how this got 85 dislikes this is what I call perfection best version off both these reels I've ever heard amazingly talented musician on the whistle wow that's what I call playing a whistle bodhran so subtle and simple yet so perfect great background it really doesn't get any better this amazingly beautiful
I reckon people don't realise the breathy playing is the Irish style... some people like that clean crisp whistle sound... madness I tells you. I like that Celtic woodiness. :)
I just bought a Tin Whistle today! I've always looked for this instrument because I was captivated by its sound. As soon as I saw the flute, I had to check if this was the instrument I've always chased after! It matched and I bought it! I'm gonna practice with it as much as I can! :D Its not too far off from the Filipino Bamboo flute when it comes to playing. So ive already learned some of the basics. I'm really excited to learn more!
I was gonna get a harmomica because I love the sound of bag pipes. You know if you make that connection lol I might be crazy, but now I found this and all I want to do is get it to play Amazing Grace
How are you getting along with it? I used to play it in school and i am picking it up again after some time. Can't do any ornamentation to save my life!.
Yes keep practicing you will get the hang off it I love whistles and bordhans I play both the d whistles great key to start in get the basic tune when you can play it play it as fast as you can trust me this helps and saves time on practicing plus if you play it fast then playing slow will be no bother then slow it down to proper speed then you can put in your cuts and slides double tap certain notes slide your finger off some off the notes to vibrate the whistle if your playing 3 fingers down g not leave one hole between notes uncovered the e the 5th note always tap the second note down from what your playing good luck
Yeah I ordered 2 because I heard the first was quite as easy to play as the second, but now in college I find the time is taken up by so many things. So this IS a someday haha
HappyTrails 1 eh I made the mistake of ordering it from Townsends... their more expensive stuff is nice but their cheap stuff is, well, cheap. I’m 90% sure it’s the flute, not me, as I can only make sound with it when squeezing it with so much force I’m worried I’ll bend it and blowing at an extremely specific angle.
@@Jessie_Helms dang, thats how I feel about the first one. It would be nice if I had the time for a tutor but I'm all about learning myself to🤣🤣 and that isn't going to hot Good luck to you!
I bought a Sweetone a few months ago and liked it so much I ordered a second whistle from a shop in Ireland! Having a blast with it. Need to start working on ornamentation.
I just got a whistle from Goldfinch Whistles in Poland. About the same price as the Susato but I think a better sound. Google them and see what you think.
Wow, that bass thrumming sound at that starts at 2:16... so intense! I can feel it resonating in my chest. Malcador, what instrument is it? Some kind of drum? Excellent video.
@@malcador6193 sounds like an untunable bodhran I've one sounds a bit like that so your not far out lovely sound off the sustano whistle very bell put together
This is an incredible performance! I'm a long time woodwind player, but this video inspired me to pick up the tin whistle for the first time and am thrilled at how naturally it came to me. I'm practicing Cooley's Reel right now and would love to eventually play it like you do. Do you by chance have a link to the background drums and strings used in this video so i could practice playing with it?
Hi James. Unfortunately I've lost the files for the track. But I wish you good luck in learning this instrument, also you should eventually try low whistle, it has such lovely sound.
@@malcador6193 No worries, the progression is pretty simple so i can figure something out. And yeah, I'm practicing with a high D whistle right now but i intend to try out a lower one too. Any recommendations on which brands and key you prefer?
@@Maximillian1329 I have some videos with Howard low D on the channel (Metallica cover). You can check it's sound there, it's really good. Also Susato low G (nightwish cover).
All four corners of the country. Ireland has a rich musical tradition and a lot of effort goes into preserving it and passing it on. Some of the tunes would be known by almost every trad musician which makes it a lot easier for people to play together. I absolutely love this. I’ve played it hundreds of times.

Yes, they are actually common and traditional irish jigs and reels. Eluveitie uses them in their songs to add the folk parts.
