Danny didn't change; maybe stopped acting like an ass to impress his friends, but I'd argue he was wearing a facade as the bad boy, so merely became okay with himself, rather than changed himself.

The boyfriend and friends in The Devil Wears Prada always irritated me. They repeatedly tease Andy for her new job, are just as judgemental about the fashion industry, the boyfriend repeatedly makes her feel bad for doing well at her job and even berates her for not impulsively quitting a high sought after and career changing position. I understand his frustration, she's gone more, less attentive, repeatedly busy but rather than try to talk to her, be understanding, proud of her accomplishments or even focus on his own work he just constantly makes her feel like crap. It sucks, but there are a lot of cases of couples who both have very demanding and high placed jobs, but idk he always just rubbed me wrong. She should've just stayed single after that

Not only do the Boyfriends suck but every single situation they manipulate to happen causes the woman to get "Stockholm Syndrome". Also it is complete and utterly unrealistic. No one's " How did you meet story" has ever started with first he stalked me for months. Then started to leave me romantic gifts. Til one day I just knew we are going to live happily ever after.
Legally Blonde is really one of the best movies, in so many ways, and has an incredible character arch. To me, Elle Woods is a feminist icon, because she loves with all her heart, but doesn't settle for anything less than what she knows she deserves, and despite the prejudices against her, she knows who and what she is and refuses to be a victim, and Elle shows that personal success is the best revenge. That message is wildly underutilized and shamefully so.
What about Nate from Devil Wears Prada. One of the most realistic portrayals of needy, insecure and toxic boyfriends who would rather pull their significant other down to their level rather than level up themselves. It was shocking that Andy chose him over an amazing career.

When you cheat it's both of the parties fault. The married one knew they were married, and made a vow before GOD that they would be faithful. Both parties do.

Well I believe that marriage is a sacred bondage between a man and a woman. Jesus said "What God has yoked together let no man put apart." Harry is one of the best rom com guys. He was emotionally damaged over his ex-wife and messed up with Sally, but realized he made a mistake right away and tried to make it right. He is most realistic and likable of all possible love interests in rom com movies IMO.

Even though Jake was a jerk to Melanie in Sweet Home Alabama, I really prefered her with him anyways. Besides I can see why he was a jerk, she left him and got engaged to another man while she was still legally married, so I can understand why he was a jerk.
I don't think Jake belonged in tnis video, not even as an honorable mention. Sure he was not that nice to Melanie when she first showed up but he had every reason to be that way, she walked out on him and ran away to new york. Then she swans back in engaged to someone else and looking for a divorce, I'd be pissed too.
Umm......She tried numerous times to legally divorce him. She mentions it in the beginning of the movie, Jake simply sent the papers back and ignored the divorce petition.
He's there bc he forced Melanie to stay married to him for a long time. She would send him the divorce papers over and over and he would refuse to sign them. Also, in their backstory he was a pretty bad husband. Like, he originally married Melanie only bc she was pregnant, and he got so drunk during their wedding reception that he couldn't have his first dance as husband and wife with Melanie. In the end he made it up to her, but up until then he was not good. Melanie wasn't a great person either, but that doesn't justify him.

Inez was only with him because of Gil's success, was always unjustifiably rude and cheated on him. And Gil was only with Inez because she represented the type of hot, upclass type of woman that he wouldn't be able to get when he was younger/not famous.
Dex in Something Borrowed (if that's considered a rom com??) - I never saw the appeal in him. He was a wimp and a cheat. Not many of the characters were much better though. Halfway through the movie I wanted Ethan (John Krasinski) to take over the movie and find happiness with someone deserving lol But this is a pretty good list. The best part of Legally Blonde though were the moments where she one ups the jerks. "You got into Harvard Law?..."What, like it's hard?" Lol Classic

He made mistakes sure, but I don't think he should be on this list because even though he had intimacy and commitment issues, he did come to his senses and improved in the end. Grease is a super fun movie and the music slaps, but the plot and characters just aren’t it. The fact that Sandy has to completely change her personality and appearance in order to keep Danny just shows how toxic their relationship is.
although it's impossible not to like this movie, I agree. THE STAGE Version is much better story wise. They both try to do things to become what they think each other wants. They meet up at the end, each thinking they have changed in thought way - she looks like a pink lady, he has joined a bunch of sports teams and is wearing a letter sweater with his hair different. They both laugh and realize that they didn't need to change.
I love that Glen Gulia made it onto this list, even though I would personally put him a lot higher, because you don't see the characters from the Wedding Singer on many if these lists as a lot are repeated. This one was one of my favourite movies when I was a teen as well as Never Been Kissed. The fact that Drew Barrymore plays leads in both makes it even better xxxx
My mom actually became 'Nancy Clancy' (like 'Julia Gulia) when she married my dad-then, after 5 kids before me-3 of them girls, they named me after her. So I also was Nancy Clancy I guess they just ran out of girl names!
The boyfriend in (the devil wears prada) is the worst even though the filmmaker and the actor though this character is endearing to audience; they definitely didn't read the room.

I haven’t watched all of these movies but I have watched most of them. I loved the ending of Legally Blonde so much. Elle,saw what kind of guy Warner was and never really treated her well, not like how Emmett treated her. He’s so much better than Warner. At the end of the movie, Warner didn’t get anything which he definitely deserved.
Except basically every main character in a hallmark movie almost cheats on her boyfriend with the new guy, but it's ok because the boyfriend is a jerk and the new guy is wholesome and sweet. Don't get me wrong, I love Hallmark movies, but the characters are just as bad.
Plus Warner totally insulted both Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy Onassis with that 'I need to marry a Jackie, not a Marilyn' and diminished their significance to a name and an image.

Jake from Sweet Home Alabama doesn’t deserve to be on this list! He has every right to be mean to Melanie. She left him, came back (while still legally married to him) engaged to another man demanding a divorce.
I don't think he belongs there either. Tom and Summer wanted different things, but didn't understand that due to a lack of communication. He involved himself in the relationship because he thought she wanted the same thing. And eventually, after acknowledging his mistake, he grew up and became a better person.
Well, she is really clear about what she wants and needs and he is kinda obsessed with her. But that's just from a neutral perspective, cause I love that movie haha

Not a rom-com, but Liar Liar is one of the rare comedies where the "other guy" is much better than the protagonist and the female lead would be better off with the former.
Or actually Steve from All About Steve because he wasn’t up front with Mary about his feelings and made little to no effort to stop his co-worker from leading her on about his feelings causing a very sweet woman to chase him across the country regarding feelings he did not and was never going to reciprocate.

Tom is the one with the belief in destiny and finding a soulmate. In the end Summer is in agreement, after she's married someone else. But when they were together, she was upfront about her feelings.
You read it wrong. He idolised her and put her on a pedestal. The actors and writers said so themselves. She was always honest about her intentions. It was a critique of the manic pixie dream girl and men projecting the ideal girl they want rather than seeing or listening to the woman as a flawed real person with her own thoughts and feelings. Such as, "I'm actuality not into you like that"
How about Gerry from Sliding Doors? He lived with girlfriend Helen while "researching and writing a novel" aka cheating on her with ex-girlfriend Lydia. Then Helen's fate was divided into 2 possibilities, where "Helen 1" barely catches a particular train and "Helen 2" barely misses it. Helen 1 gets home in time to catch Gerry with Lydia, dumps him, and starts a much happier life. Helen 2 doesn't, and keeps supporting, and getting jerked around by Gerry.

I wouldn't condemn Carl for telling Sarah to not pick up the phone call from her brother; he had previously seen how distraught Sarah becomes due to her brother, and how she sacrifices everything to cater to her brother's whims. If anything, he gave her an out that she didn't take, instead she opted to remain in a codependent relationship with her mentally far gone brother.
I take personal offense at the fact that Harry Burns is on this list. The whole point of his character is that he’s a real person with flaws and feelings and issues. Well I believe that marriage is a sacred bondage between a man and a woman. Jesus said "What God has yoked together let no man put apart." When you cheat you are breaking that vow, and hurting not only your marriage, but your mate. And along with it comes a lot of sorrow and pain. It's so selfish and cruel to put someone through that. Why? Because you couldn't have self-control? You think you're so entitled to act on your inclinations because it's there, and you don't consider the consequences? That's really messed up. I'm sorry, but I'm taking this view in what the Bible says, not by law or human thinking.
P.S.- When I mean "you" I don't actually mean you you. I'm not trying to accuse you of anything.
Harry is one of the best rom com guys. He was emotionally damaged over his ex-wife and messed up with Sally, but realized he made a mistake right away and tried to make it right. He is most realistic and likable of all possible love interests in rom com movies IMO.

Even though Jake was a jerk to Melanie in Sweet Home Alabama, I really prefered her with him anyways. Besides I can see why he was a jerk, she left him and got engaged to another man while she was still legally married, so I can understand why he was a jerk.
I don't think Jake belonged in tnis video, not even as an honorable mention. Sure he was not that nice to Melanie when she first showed up but he had every reason to be that way, she walked out on him and ran away to new york. Then she swans back in engaged to someone else and looking for a divorce, I'd be pissed too.
Umm......She tried numerous times to legally divorce him. She mentions it in the beginning of the movie, Jake simply sent the papers back and ignored the divorce petition.

He's there bc he forced Melanie to stay married to him for a long time. She would send him the divorce papers over and over and he would refuse to sign them. Also, in their backstory he was a pretty bad husband. Like, he originally married Melanie only bc she was pregnant, and he got so drunk during their wedding reception that he couldn't have his first dance as husband and wife with Melanie. In the end he made it up to her, but up until then he was not good. Melanie wasn't a great person either, but that doesn't justify him.

He didn't just marry her because she was pregnant, that was her belief not his, he loved her the pregnancy just sped things up. Dex in Something Borrowed (if that's considered a rom com??) - I never saw the appeal in him. He was a wimp and a cheat. Not many of the characters were much better though.

Grease is a super fun movie and the music slaps, but the plot and characters just aren’t it. The fact that Sandy has to completely change her personality and appearance in order to keep Danny just shows how toxic their relationship is.
although it's impossible not to like this movie, I agree. THE STAGE Version is much better story wise. They both try to do things to become what they think each other wants. They meet up at the end, each thinking they have changed in thought way - she looks like a pink lady, he has joined a bunch of sports teams and is wearing a letter sweater with his hair different. They both laugh and realize that they didn't need to change.

I haven’t watched all of these movies but I have watched most of them. I loved the ending of Legally Blonde so much. Elle,saw what kind of guy Warner was and never really treated her well, not like how Emmett treated her. He’s so much better than Warner. At the end of the movie, Warner didn’t get anything which he definitely deserved.

I don't think he belongs there either. Tom and Summer wanted different things, but didn't understand that due to a lack of communication. He involved himself in the relationship because he thought she wanted the same thing. And eventually, after acknowledging his mistake, he grew up and became a better person.
Well, she is really clear about what she wants and needs and he is kinda obsessed with her. But that's just from a neutral perspective, cause I love that movie haha

Such as, "I'm actuality not into you like that"
How about Gerry from Sliding Doors? He lived with girlfriend Helen while "researching and writing a novel" aka cheating on her with ex-girlfriend Lydia. Then Helen's fate was divided into 2 possibilities, where "Helen 1" barely catches a particular train and "Helen 2" barely misses it. Helen 1 gets home in time to catch Gerry with Lydia, dumps him, and starts a much happier life. Helen 2 doesn't, and keeps supporting, and getting jerked around by Gerry.

I wouldn't condemn Carl for telling Sarah to not pick up the phone call from her brother; he had previously seen how distraught Sarah becomes due to her brother, and how she sacrifices everything to cater to her brother's whims. If anything, he gave her an out that she didn't take, instead she opted to remain in a codependent relationship with her mentally far gone brother.
