She only had to work that job for one year and it could’ve opened doors for her. Now if you’re established in your career and you’re neglecting your significant other that’s one thing but this was her first job out of school and it’s not going to be ideal, fun or accommodating. Furthermore, they lived in New York and the cost of living there is outrageously expensive. You have to work! Nate was being self centered and immature, period! There’s couples out here who barely see each other because they’re busy working multiple jobs/going to school/taking care of kids, etc. trying to make ends meat. Plenty of women deal with men who work long hours because it allows them a comfortable life. My parents worked opposite shifts growing up because they weren’t comfortable putting us in daycare. Yep! My first serious relationship was with a guy who later on became very abusive. I am now engaged to a guy who I was friends with during that other relationship. Sometimes better things come along!

Actually in the wedding planner she didn't run away from her wedding to run off with Steve. She thought he was getting married. She ran away from her wedding because she realized she shouldn't be getting married to someone she wasn't in love with. Steve is the one who left his wedding to run away with her although his end to the wedding was a mutual thing between him and his fiance

It's stupid to say that Josh didn't understand Cher. When it comes to Clueless it's almost entirely from Cher's perspective. I'm pretty sure there is only one scene she's not a part of and it's about her anyway. We don't really get into Josh's head, we know how Cher describes him, we know how he acts and what he says but Cher is the narrator and pretty unreliable if you ask me. An absolute deal breaker! Yea LJ was still figuring out how to be in a relationship, it was her first one, and she was insecure, but what hope could she have of ever being truly comfortable when Peter constantly lied about his interactions with Gen and never truly stood up for her. Cher = Emma, a matchmaker who doesnt realise she's in love with her sister's brother-in-law until its almost too late. Clueless removed the sister and sister's husband from the equation, but not the timeless romance that is central to the plot and theme!!

Okay so despite Danny acting like a douchebag in front of his friends can we acknowledge that he did try to become a guy who sandy would like after she started dating Tom. He tried out for multiple different sports and ended up taking up running. Sandy obviously wasn't that amazing either since she dropped Tom the moment Danny fell over.
I liked the La La Land ending. Personally I thought the fact that they didn't end up together fit with the fact that their relationship started with both of them working towards their dreams, and they naturally grew apart as their paths diverged. I think La La Land works as a movie because it's so seeped in nostalgia and their relationship is coloured by those rosy lens. But the reality is more complicated and I think the movie showed why their relationship worked better as a nostalgic memory of the foibles of youth.
YEEESSS. One of the only dramas where this didn't happen was "Dream High" ♡ She ends up with the nice guy. And "Heirs" is complicated because the other guy is actually kind of mean. (OG Kdrama fan lol)

Most of the movie was him trying to change for her. All of the sports was him trying to change for her. Her only change was at the end... and that was just her looks. I think what is implied at the end is that it didn’t matter. As is typical with teens, back then as well as now, there is too much pressure on how you are perceived.
So on board with La La Land and Pretty in Pink! Also, Thank you for finally acknowledging that Danny changed in Grease as well! I get so frustrated when people criticize Grease because Sandy "had to" change to get the guy (she CHOSE to change), but never acknowledge Danny's changing either, so thank you. As for Gatsby (which also fires me up despite my loathing it), Daisy was afraid of rejecting Tom. Tom scared her into not standing up for herself, and honestly, if you really look at the story, Gatsby didn't truly love her either by the end, she was just a goal for him (I did a huge college paper on this story, so I've spent an exorbitant amount of time with it, and it's extremely obvious when you look at it closely).
The funny thing is that in the third book she falls in love with another man and Massimo becomes more violent. The problem is that this other man is a rival mobster of Massimo, whom she knows because he also kidnaps her. The book pretends that the second mobster is the real Prince Charming, but it is very naive to think that the guy, another criminal, will not treat her the same as Massimo if she tells him that she abandons him for his worst enemy, after having lost a son.
dont get me wrong i love john, but she just didnt feel for him what she did for peter. Peter and Lara jean did have the occasional toxic moment but they always work it out. The movies did them dirty.

Um, excuse me, the phrasing 'Mia makes the safe choice and succeeds in her career, but the audience knows what she could have had' just rubs me extremely wrong here. The main thing this couple loved about each other was that they were both extremely driven people with very ambitios dreams regarding their separate fields. It was basically in the premise that it wouldn't last because sooner or later their dreams will be more important than their relationship. And if we are being completely fair, they were in a situation where it would have been easier for Seb to adapt to her. He didn't have anything at the time that wouldn't let him move with her. But of course we expect the girl to compromise and put her career on hold to keep a relationship together. If she did it would be basically the situation you condemned The Devil Wears Prada for earlier, only here it would be worth it, because Ryan Gosling is dashing and slightly more supportive.
Unfortunately, in the movie “After” storyline with Zed was left apart, but while reading the books I was shipping Zed and Tessa, because her relationship with Hardin shows aspects of toxic relationships, which destroy people from the inside. I'm okay with Lara Jean going back to Peter, because she actually did love him and I like them as a couple. Yes, John Ambrose is a great guy. But clearly, he's not meant for Lara Jean. I'm also fine with Kathleen and Joe ending up together at the end of, "You've Got Mail." Same thing with Cher and Josh ("Clueless") and Mary and Steve ("The Wedding Planner"). Speaking of Mary in, "The Wedding Planner," the marriage was called off by Massimo - not Mary. See, that's why paying attention to the movie is so important. Oh! And by the way, it *was* entirely Andie's decision to make. She made the decision to leave her job for *herself*, and that decision was made all on her own. She didn't make that decision for Nate. Fun fact: In the original version of Pretty in Pink she does actually end up with Ducky but test audiences hated it because she didnt end up with the 'handsome' choice. So they changed the ending. Sometimes I wish they would release this version for all the Ducky enthusiasts out there.

Just because John Ambrose is the prince charming of the series doesn't mean that she should choose him. LJ and Peter clearly need to work on communication, and it is very easy to do they just need to do it. A lot of relationships these days ignore how important communication is and they stop trying to make it work. I look forward to them working on their relationship and putting more effort into it. If they truly care about each other then they will want to work on it. And yes Marco is much better and Noah should date Chloe because they clearly work together very well. Or in all honesty, Marco looks old enough to be in their circle and HE should date Chloe 😂

It's stupid to say that Josh didn't understand Cher. When it comes to Clueless it's almost entirely from Cher's perspective. I'm pretty sure there is only one scene she's not a part of and it's about her anyway.
We don't really get into Josh's head, we know how Cher describes him, we know how he acts and what he says but Cher is the narrator and pretty unreliable if you ask me. Not because she's lying or anything like that but because she's literally clueless.

Okay so despite Danny acting like a douchebag in front of his friends can we acknowledge that he did try to become a guy who sandy would like after she started dating Tom. He tried out for multiple different sports and ended up taking up running. Sandy obviously wasn't that amazing either since she dropped Tom the moment Danny fell over.

I liked the La La Land ending. Personally I thought the fact that they didn't end up together fit with the fact that their relationship started with both of them working towards their dreams, and they naturally grew apart as their paths diverged. I think La La Land works as a movie because it's so seeped in nostalgia and their relationship is coloured by those rosy lens. But the reality is more complicated and I think the movie showed why their relationship worked better as a nostalgic memory of the foibles of youth.

I think what is implied at the end is that it didn’t matter. As is typical with teens, back then as well as now, there is too much pressure on how you are perceived.

So on board with La La Land and Pretty in Pink! Also, Thank you for finally acknowledging that Danny changed in Grease as well! I get so frustrated when people criticize Grease because Sandy "had to" change to get the guy (she CHOSE to change), but never acknowledge Danny's changing either, so thank you.
As for Gatsby (which also fires me up despite my loathing it), Daisy was afraid of rejecting Tom. Tom scared her into not standing up for herself, and honestly, if you really look at the story, Gatsby didn't truly love her either by the end, she was just a goal for him (I did a huge college paper on this story, so I've spent an exorbitant amount of time with it, and it's extremely obvious when you look at it closely).

The funny thing is that in the third book she falls in love with another man and Massimo becomes more violent. The problem is that this other man is a rival mobster of Massimo, whom she knows because he also kidnaps her. The book pretends that the second mobster is the real Prince Charming, but it is very naive to think that the guy, another criminal, will not treat her the same as Massimo if she tells him that she abandons him for his worst enemy, after having lost a son.

Omg... how can you bash on you’ve got mail?! That’s my all time favorite Romantic comedy and feel good film! He likes her and when he realizes she’s the pen pal he starts treating her better and it’s so cute!
Um, excuse me, the phrasing 'Mia makes the safe choice and succeeds in her career, but the audience knows what she could have had' just rubs me extremely wrong here. The main thing this couple loved about each other was that they were both extremely driven people with very ambitios dreams regarding their separate fields. It was basically in the premise that it wouldn't last because sooner or later their dreams will be more important than their relationship. And if we are being completely fair, they were in a situation where it would have been easier for Seb to adapt to her. He didn't have anything at the time that wouldn't let him move with her. But of course we expect the girl to compromise and put her career on hold to keep a relationship together. If she did it would be basically the situation you condemned The Devil Wears Prada for earlier, only here it would be worth it, because Ryan Gosling is dashing and slightly more supportive.
It's Complicated should be on this list, and fairly high on it at that.

Fun fact: In the original version of Pretty in Pink she does actually end up with Ducky but test audiences hated it because she didnt end up with the 'handsome' choice. So they changed the ending. Sometimes I wish they would release this version for all the Ducky enthusiasts out there.

Just because John Ambrose is the prince charming of the series doesn't mean that she should choose him. LJ and Peter clearly need to work on communication, and it is very easy to do they just need to do it. A lot of relationships these days ignore how important communication is and they stop trying to make it work. I look forward to them working on their relationship and putting more effort into it. If they truly care about each other then they will want to work on it.
And yes Marco is much better and Noah should date Chloe because they clearly work together very well. Or in all honesty, Marco looks old enough to be in their circle and HE should date Chloe 😂
