Under those conditions I'd say a very successful outing for you lads. I'll second those comments on the wind---hunted through several of those generally with limited success---where a bird or two was a real accomplishment. Those birds scooting for a quarter of a mile before the vacuum noses showed up----those are epic. You guys keep up the great work and Merry Christmas to all!

I was feeling Sage was already off and running on the second rooster that Ace eventually ran into but hard to telling in that wind. Blows my mind you and Sage haven't hunted 4 hours in one day this year! WAIT, I just need a minute to dig some salt out of my wounds! ;) ;). Keep em coming as I and so many others really enjoy. Got a general question about the Lake Traverse Reservation. Can you hunt the WPAs, CREPs and private land that the South Dakota Public Hunting map shows to be on the Lake Traverse Reservation? Places like Bach game production area, Thompson WPA etc.
Good question. Much of that reservation is “checker boarded”, meaning there is land that is owned by the feds, state and private individuals. Anything listed on the map as the property types you listed is legal for you to hunt. Only when hunting on tribally owned land do you need a tribal license.

My son and I have been in Watertown for the past two days and have had pretty good luck (thanks to you). We are starting new traditions.
Do you use a wind muff on your GoPro? I have been thinking about it on and off to cut down on my heavy breathing noise and ambient noise while hunting, but I am cheap so $15 for a foam piece that may or may not work makes me think 😆
I've tried things in the past to cut down on the wind noise, but on this one, just reduced the overall sound in editing. If you find something that works, please let me know!
@@jcwoutdoors After talking with @TheBucketBoysIA about how they liked their wind muff, I ended up buying one on Amazon.. The one warning I got from them was that it will overheat your GoPro in warm weather. I imagine this also helps keep it warm it cold weather as well. I used it for the first time this weekend and it does cut out the ambient wind noise very well, but I could still hear myself talking and my heavy breathing (unfortunately).
@@raybishop3176 my son only likes egg whites, so she got to have some yolks and will open presents later! I typically hunt on Christmas Eve Day, but it has been pouring rain here since last night and I didn’t feel like getting soaked and running back before church.

That shot at the 21 minute mark looked like the rooster threaded the needle in your pattern with his head.
Right? I'm guessing it was actually a touch in front, but it's pretty neat to have the footage of the shot as it approaches the bird.
