Mike Shildt took Cards to the post-season three times, so it's hardly a surprise that he is the new manager for Pads.

thank you...THANK YOU. But you know, when there's already a negative narrative about this team, it becomes low-hanging fruit for buttholes like Leiter, to ASSume what he says about the team, is exactly what everybody else was thinking. His little off-handed remark to Matt, regarding what Matt thinks about the Padres because Matt was a play by play guy, was just flat-out slimey. As if what Matt said, would speak to what is and isnt the truth about the team. Uh, Matt Vasgersian called games for the Padre a thousand yrs ago.
He knows about as much about the team right now, as my dog does. Ron Darling and Chris Young and Dan O-Dowd, are the most informed, well-read, KNOWLEDGEABLE analysts, this network has. Why they just give Al Leiter money to sit there and pull shit out of his butthole, he knows NOTHING about, is beyond me. He's a slick-talking IDIOT.

This was a surprise to absolutely noone in San Diego. MLB Network is clueless when it comes to the west coast.

Phil Nevin?...was the furthest thing from being a Padre legend. This!...is my main problem with MLB Network (especially with teams they love to deride)..they allow a bo-bo like Leiter to say something about a team, with LITTLE research done by the bo-bo..and they run with it.

Padres don’t need anyone to make them look bad. We have AJ Tingler Preller. The gift that keeps on giving. He should have been fired 3 years ago.

After we beat the cardinals, our first playoff series win in 22 yrs? That's irrational

@@brando7266 Not really. They won 17 games straight and knocked us out. I’d say they are ahead. All we have are meaningless wins that led no where. We haven’t sniffed the WS in a long time. That’s what Peter wanted.

Wtf is the issue? Nevin was an absolute failure with the Angels and had personality clashes galore in Anaheim. Stop trying to make the Padres look bad. Stop being a mouthpiece for MLB’s lazy and poor owners who hate spending unnecessarily.
Shildt was a winner, and knows the inside baseball of the Padres, 2 years no surprises. Leader, overachieving. Good exposure to our farm system.
Your shock the selection wasnt the underwhelming Nevin is hilarious.
