As a cardinals fan, I miss this guy! He was let go by the cardinals ball club because he wasn't a yes man & didn't kiss the upper management's behind. His knowledge of baseball is absolutely 2nd to none! I was so disappointed when the cardinals let him go! Congratulations Mike! I know you will do well with the Padres.
Already way better than vanilla ass BoMel. Dons natural excitement for him being the new manager is apparent and that speaks volumes. I’m ready for the Schildt era!
I still remember Bob Melvins first interviews with the Padres, he had been asked if he liked the new Brown-and-Gold uniforms and his response was something like "I'm getting used to it" ... ??? ... just thought that was an odd response. I too sense great excitement from Mike!👍

I hated that Soto was not to be found in the player video. Don't want that to be a sign of things ahead.

I like, Mike...I got no problem with him at alL...because his agenda and the way he speaks of how grateful he is to get this chance again, is REAL. Melvin, on the other hand, was just fed up with Preller. Lets stop acting like the reason he left the Padres, was any deeper and complicated than that. And if Mike is as smart as I think he is, he'll look past how infatuated Preller was with Ryan Flaherty, who he REALLY wanted to manage the team. And in all honesty, Preller has no one to blame for his fuck-up with that scenario, other than himself. If he had such an obvious boner for Flaherty, then he should have NEVER hired Bob Melvin in the first place.

Must have lost out on Craig Counsell. Shildt did a terrible, uninspiring job in St. Louis. That was why he was available. Bad move, telling you Padre fans now you won't like how he manages.
