Thank you to the creators of the mods I show off in the video, you can find them on the steam workshop page or the official Rain World discord!
The Friend is the only slug cat on this list that requires you own Downpour; the rest currently only require that you own the base game but may not work as intended.
I used Turtle Toad's slug cat design for the thumbnail which I doodled up to fit my style and the modded slogs, they were a big inspiration for me to start a channel and make Rain World content :D

Just sayin because now all slugcat elements seem to be personified, why not make spider slug? Spiders are literally one of the critters everyone forgets and spidercat could slow down prey or predator with web,is super strong and can climb in background wall. Yet because it likes the dark, it can only digest food in pipes, needs to chill in shade from time to time and doesnt really like water, but is neutral with spiders and can tame them after two nights in shelter and sharing food pips
That's actually a really cool idea that I'd love to see on the workshop! I wish I knew some modders that I could work with to make this kind of thing a reality. Maybe in the future, who knows.

@@JustAnotherSomeDude Oh the one featured in Peculliur's artwork is already pretty cool! The Crypt-Runner (not crypto like I said before 😂) is described as a fast runner with two long metallic legs, has a sycthe affixed to it's right arm (could be optional in my opinion), so it can only hold one item at a time, has a reinforced head that protects it from projectiles and bites, is a bad climber but good jumper and has a tail that emmits a signal for miro birds to flock in your position, in this particular mod they would probably be your allies.
If you wanna make a mod with this description it would be really cool! Also you can change aspects that you didn't like or put new aspects, -just make sure the mod is in steam workshop-

Hey! Im Foxie, the official artist and co-storyconceptor for Hubert. Me and Ulthar are working on it as a big project!! The art you see on the slugcat select page is drawn by me! Right now, development is very slow due to us barely knowing anything about modding, lol. He'll probably become less... fast in the future due to him slowly becoming a real mod. Hopefully you'll check him out again once we actually get some features/lore implemented!

Can u give em an appearance that shows some biological reason for his speed? For example longer legs or some kind of speed increasing skin. For example Rivulet looks slippery due to his lil gill thingies.

Happy to see Hubert here KJHASGHJK... Fun fact, his name and colors were randomly suggested by a friend. He was made simply to be a meme, but people loved Hubert so much I decided I would improve on him! :]
He gave me quite a few laughs while playing. I loved making the showcase, he's truly an inspiration to us all :D
I think that bee doen't need gourmand fall, but can paralyze others with its sting, like flashbang. It would much cooler and original than gourmand fall. Everything else works perfect.
My problem is that he got no weakness…

@@firewoodloki maybe a small debuff of some kind after landing from flight could help? or maybe fully using the flight until it forces you to land results in losing a quarter of a food pip? (ive never played rainworld so im not certain how drastic things like that are)

I have to say that Hubert is my favorite.
His simplicity and ridiculous speed seems to make him incredibly prone to the most hilarious of moments.

Funny thing is I drew them on a 6 inch cracked phone screen *wheeze*
There's also a new scug called Gurguid which dropped (out of the workshop though sadly). Its a mix of Void Worm and a scug able to go antigrav for a few moments, create an analog to flashbangs at wil and his abilities get better at Karma 10 similar to Saint. As balance he can only eat meat and his spears fly rather slow and cannot be stuck into walls.
Just got rainworld like a week ago and all this stuff seems amazing.

That said, hearing the nostalgic pikmin music just makes me want a pikmin-style slugcat of some form.

Beecat seems extremely overpowered, i think if i were a dev, i'd give it a huge drawback- like : water kills you instantly
Sporecat seems pretty balanced.
Friend seems good, hoewer their lizz rizz looks too OP. Perhaps scavs would hate them? Or mabye usually passive/neutral creatures would be agressive.
Hubert. Nothing to say. His speed is both a strenght and a weakness.

The slugbase mod in the Steam workshop is great for creating your own slugcat.
My favorite one in those is definitely the sporecat! Really liked the idea also It got a weak spear throw to balance

I may think about making a mod for rainworld that's just SSneaky getting trapped pre ancients 'megacycle' (the "layer" that is on top in the base game)
Features.
2 parts
A Entirely new world, even more industrialized, with exposed wires (don't worry that's a good thing) and still functioning powerplants. Not void power, the long lost settlers of this age didnt like the void actually.
Echos of this period's settlers.
Entirely different creatures. Like the phantoms, the equivalent to vultures, but more uncommon durring the day, the Night however..
The normal version of SSneaky (part 1), can only feed off of electricity (which your also immune to), and as theres no centipedes your gonna have to rely on the worn down electrical grid. You can also electrify spears, at the cost of most of your hunger.
SSneaky, 'reverbed' version (part 2), your now accompanied by ME! (My self Insert OC) A floaty incorporeal 5D being that cannot actually enter notRain-World or pull SSneaky out of it, though I'll basically be a walking iderator, which don't exist because neither do the ancients [oh and I'll react to when you die lol]. Also this time around, harder variants of creatures will spawn, the electrical grid is more worn down and your food requirements are more strict, and your end destination/goal is different. Also different echo dialogue.
I am most excited for the friend. I bet its campaign will be good if it gets one

All of the mods look really cool, cheers to the creators! I just finished Survivor but I don't feel quite ready to try Hunter yet, so I think I'll test one of those mods first. I wish I knew how to develop a mod with a new slugcat, but I literally have no idea where to start lol. I guess I'll stick with concept art for now
There is a fantastic modding community over on the Rain World discord that has some great resources on how to mod for rain world.
There are also plenty of wonderful people over there that I'm sure would be great to help you with whatever you need if you are really serious about it :)
I'm sure there are also modders that would love to have things drawn and work with you to make a mod!

Great video,lets me see a tiny bit of the mods even while being relatively poor,and has good humor as well.
Also,i would like to suggest some copyright free music, because that might be important.
Well,its more of a copyright free a ARTIST,but id like to recomend the person known as "context sensitive".
They make great music ranging from chiptune, synthwave,and a Lot of other things,which includes both fast and slow music for whatever situation your video may depict.
Hell,even their "20XX" 8bit album Thats been on youtube for like 9 years still holds up well,and i think theres even sound effects you can download outside of youtube.
Just dont forget to give them credit,its Just a few links and the licensing page has the links to copy-paste If needed.

Yeahhh this is a problem after the Downpour scugs came out. Fancier and fancier slugcats are gonna come out without considering the environment and lore and I doubt if anybody else will ever top the vanilla and new slugcats, even if the new slugcats originally came from a mod.
The Downpour scugs have extreme adaptations because of the harsher environments/predators except for Spearmaster since he was modified that way, and Gourmand is just... rotund. All of em are either balanced by the campaign (e.g. Artificer can kill almost anything, but scavs hate her) or the scugs' downsides (e.g. Gourmand is slow and can get tired).
Beecat is cute, and I can see it adapting from living in an area where there are a lot of deadly pitfalls and normally unreachable food like popcorn plants. I kinda wish his main gimmick is crouch jumping, but it also doubles as an attack he has a stinger or something, kinda like a noodlefly. Or have the ability to summon some bees to lock predators in place while they eat, but they have weak or can't throw spears. I don't like the Gourmand drop damage at all, it moves him into being unbalanced, and it makes less sense to do as much damage as a falling Gourmand while having the ability to hover.
Sporecat, well they obviously adapted in an area with tons of dangerous insects. I'm kinda so-so on it visually, though the particles look nice. I do like the sporescreen ability though, its pretty cool and gives utility even with non-insects. I really think he needs to be a tad heavier because of the spores they carry. Compare to Spearmaster which can shit out infinite spears, but he can't eat plants at all needs the spears to "eat" so its balanced by that.
The Friend is just a fancier Monk, so meh. I dunno, it makes less sense to me that he's slower when on two-legs.
Hubert is just... Rivulet but with less braincells. At least Rivulet needs to be fast and can hold their breath longer because they _need_ to. I can see him being balanced if a lot of the predators are also fast, so he needs to be faster than them.
The Friend is a quadruped, walking on two legs is awkward for them like it is with most quadrupeds irl
They're not supposed to be wildly different from the vanilla/dlc slugcats we have, so being quadrupedal is their main gimmick
theyre only friends with lizards (all other rep-based creatures can beat it for all they care)
New regions and campaigns are being worked on for these slug cats which will have the slug cats' abilities and drawbacks in mind.
Currently we are in the early stages of downpour and the workshop even existing so give the modders some time.
I've spoken to the creators of a couple of these mods and things are being balanced and changed with time.
The workshop pages also have a lot of information regarding plans for the future of the mods as well.
At the end of the day these mods are just for fun, and they are a lot of it!

How do you add more slugcats to the arena that aren't the standard ones? (Monk,Survivor,Hunter)
If you own downpour and you unlock the new slug cats (Artificer, Gourmand, Spear master, Rivulet, Saint), while playing through the campaign for each respective slug cats you can find green unlock tokens which unlock the slogs in the arena.
Alternatively, you can go into the remix menu and if you click on "More Slug Cats" and activate cheats you can unlock them manually.
Modded slogs are unlocked in arena right when you activate the mod in the remix menu and restart the game.

The brown slugcat can attack with his claws. In the main campaign it will recruit other small slugcats to fight with him. The recruited slugcats can die. If they do. They were just asleep, they could be used once your done with the day.

Guys, help me please, mods for rain world don't work for me qwq
I'm tired of doing anything, I have the official version of the game, I bought the dlc, but none of the steam mods work. I also tried downloading mods with programs, this also doesn't work. I deleted folders in C drive, tried to move files from the workshop to the game folder, I even tried to download past versions of the game, but the mods still don't work
I'm sorry they don't work for you :(
I have very little modding/trouble-shooting experience and I don't know the specifics about what happens to your game client. For example, does the game crash when mods are introduced, does your game not load, do you get an error message, or do the mods just not affect your game?
A couple things that have helped me are:
1. Try validating Rain world game files through steam itself which can help with a lot of mod errors.
2. Uninstall and reinstall the game and dlc
3. Try installing a small number of mods to start as mods can conflict one another and cause the game to break or mods to just not work entirely. Heck, some mods can break a save file entirely without a trace.
Again, I don't know a lot about this kind of thing as I don't have these problems and don't need to solve them a lot, but the mod developers over in the official Rain World discord can help you much more than I can here. They are really nice and I'm sure they will help you with what you need if you can't find a solution by simply looking through the modding support section of the server.
