I COMPLETELY AGREE - Benchmade needs to produce an XL VERSION OF THE FULL IMMUNITY! If it was a 3.5 inch blade with a full 4-finger grasp handle - that would be an awesome EDC blade! I love that they made it from CPM-M4 as well as the beautiful aluminum handle scales with diamond texture, so I would hope they would keep this. I was thinking they could call the XL version:
"BENCHMADE FULL IMMUNITY - BOOSTER SHOT"! 😎👍
I agree with you. They need to make a larger one. What does surprise me, is the number of people who have already bought one and were shocked how small they were. I guess people don’t read the specs oftentimes before ordering. Watch the secondary market for them if you want one. I’ve seen them going from $200 to $225.
It's simple:
The surprised buyers are more concerned with looks and steel snobbery over actual specifications, performance, comfort, and value for the money.
The Ah-nuld impression was pretty good, Aaron! 😂😂😂 I can't fool with Benchmade and their pricing though. It's almost as if overpriced is a brand feature. You can litterally get a sub-3-inch, CPM-4V, button-lock Wharnie with a full ergonomic micarta handle for $75 - Kizer Swaggs Swayback, KnifeCenter exclusive. You can get a Wharnie Spyderco Delica in K390 (even better edge retention than M4) for $130 or less. Technically, you could get BOTH of these and still not break $200. Did I mention that Benchmade tends to be overpriced? Cool knife, ridiculous price.
Benchmade knows they have a bunch of slaves that will buy anything at abnormal prices.
Just received my sprint run Spyderco Siren, with a 3.6" S90V blade and solid carbon fiber handles for $242. A stronger lockback folder, with higher edge retention and corrosion resistance than M4 steel, with a bit less toughness - don't have to worry about toughness since high edge retention steels are usually best at cutting A LOT of softer materials like cardboard, rope, nylon strapping and wire jacketing/insulation, etc.
I have developed a full Benchmade immunity over the years. I own many of their knives, from my beginner days as a knife nut, but they are not worth it in hindsight. This one really looks nice. No question. But it's a Benchmade, so I pass. Thank you for the video! Great as always!❤
Thanks for watching!! 👍
I started with the AFCK from Benchmade, and had a Griptilian (early 2010 version, I think)...even had a Nimravus...but, I just couldn't see myself paying the higher costs for them, while I was in the military (where I would lose blades - folders and fixed).
Once I got out, the Griptilian went from like $40-60 range to the over $120 range, so they stopped being even thought of.
Can you elaborate on why you say theyre not worth it? Thinking about splurging on this lil bugger...
@@briangrussing9327The Chinese knockoffs are excellent. $23
@@briangrussing9327 Just check the price tag. Do you think the price is justified?
I have yet to buy a Benchmade but I will be picking this knife up for sure. I cannot get this thing out of my mind. Love the aesthetics and the colors.
I connected with this blade shape too when I first seen it. They do really need an xxl version I agree!! Super cool model. I could use this one at work.
I love it. It’s small and perfect for my needs, I love that cutting edge.
Damn near perfect video, answered all my questions. Thanks man
Really glad to help and that you enjoyed it! Where did u land, worth carrying or going to bail?
The best "mini" knife I've had is the cold steel tuff lite. Super compact and slicey and still strong.
and dont forget reasonably priced
The tuff lite is phenomenal I own a few. I would grab it over this bench made any day.
Cold Steel FTW
I purchased one of these yesterday & all I gotta say is this blade Demands Respect! If not it will take it!!
Nice. Cool scales too.
finally got my hands on one the other day, totally agree benchmade needs to make this in a full size version, just too small for me to want to carry everyday. I would buy a full size version of this knife!
Excellent video! If they make a version for $160 ill probably grab one but i would never spend $270 on a knife - no thanks 😊
That's what I said about 10yrs ago , now I have a bunch of $300 plus knives , if you stay in this hobby long enough you'll eat those words like I did ....👍🖖
Best compact knife I’ve ever owned was the Spyderco Cricket. I’ve heard many people claim that a knife that compact and useful still isn’t worth $95, and I totally disagreed…but this Benchmade absolutely doesn’t justify its price point. It looks great and performs great, too, but good Lord…for a knife that small and for that price, it’s approaching full-custom pricing, not what I’d expect from a compact, mass-production folding knife. When you start going above around $150, it becomes exponentially harder for companies to sell the merits of their knives, because the more affordable price bracket is more competitive than ever these days. Some companies definitely achieve that goal and completely make the unattainable-for-some prices feel somewhat justified, but Benchmade in particular seems dead-set on marking everything they produce up to AT LEAST twice as much as the materials they’re worth, and all because they’re a notable name. The butterfly tax is definitely a real thing, and it’s sad that it doesn’t show any sign of easing up in the foreseeable future
i have the bronze and mine flicks and closes easily and loosely. This knife is enough for me to cut boxes, papers, food, peel my apple and do some Manicure and its enough blade for self defense to cut someone's main veins lol, excellent knife, i carry mine for four days now.
The blade length regulation for a federal facility (where I work) is under 2.5 inches. In my opinion the best combination of quality and size that meets that standard is the Spyderco Lil' Native with either slipjoint or lockback. You get a beefy handle and choil and S30V or better for $150. I hope this size knife becomes more popular for selfish reasons because I'd love more steel and handle options.
Needed to see this comment. Like the size and blade steel of the immunity, but couldn't justify the price. Might have to find a lil native in m4.
I was lucky enough to get one for $200 as I thought I would never pay the full price tag for it. Since then I absolutely love this knife and will gladly pay full price for another one. It has replaced my 945 as my edc...mostly.
Amazing video as always 😄
Could you do a video on Civivi Concept 22 next? 😉
It came out like 2 months ago so it's preaty new and I can't find any quality video on yt about it.
Those WorkPro cutters are great. I bought a 3pk for $17 awhile back from Amazon. Also found some carbon steel utility blades there that are slightly thicker than standard blades. I still carry my "nice" knives but those WorkPro's are always in my pocket now
I have the button lock version but I like the frame standard frame lock better and they are cheap enough to buy several and put wherever you might need them.
I think it’d be a solid performer. I like the idea of the thinner blade for daily use. But it definitely needs a bigger grip. An extra 3/4” on grip and 1/2” on blade.
It's a good looking knife and I don't have a problem with a good small knife, I have a few. I'd never pay that price for that small a knife though.
The price is high for the size for sure 👍
Honestly my favorite mini edc knife is either the Kershaw Launch 4 or the mini benchmade 940 can't recall the actual number for it lol. But the Launch 4 is my go to mini blade. It's just so much fun to use and play with.
I jumped on the compact edc knife bandwagon, but I carry a Chaves T.A.K. I didn't know if I'd like carrying a smaller edc blade, but so far it's been great, I love how it has a combo grind on the blade and a reinforced tip. I love that knife. I bought the Green Micarta version on sale for 188$. I really like the Full Immunity but I'm also immune to that rediculous price! I could almost buy 2 Chaves TAK knives which are just as awesome, and they have the bad ass skull clip.
Make it big like a Cold Steel XL knives ..... the trend is going towards carry for protection which means big is the advantage
Thanks for the look Aaron, but I'm gonna stick with my Hogue X-1 Microflip. It has aluminum scales and a plunge lock with CPM154 steel and a Wharncliffe blade @ a better price point.
I'm with you, we need an Immunity XL!!! About bugout-sized would be chef's kiss!! 👍😎
Own it in FDE and it’s my favorite knife at the moment
The price is absolutely insane. I'd complain if it was a 4 inch blade. That's size for that little material is Benchmade just being unreasonable.
It's takes the same amount of time to make this knife as it does to make a 6" knife. Realistically, the difference in material cost is probably 10 dollars or less. Yea, the knife is overpriced but not bc of the size.
1:42 that Arnold impersonation had me dead lmao😂
I have a stack of Benchmades.. will struggle to resist on this one..maybe wait for a slightly bigger one??
There's a local police outfitter store near me that has a relationship with Benchmade. They have custom stuff made frequently by them. They have a larger version of this exact knife, but it's an auto.
Lest we not forget the Protech runt 5 in magnacut for as low as 150 bucks made in the USA. I love the look of that benchmade but yeah it’s just a little too pricey. For 230 I could justify it. Wish the color wasn’t so reflective though, I’d prefer a more matte look
I could justify it only IF the handles were titanium instead of aluminum.
Cool knife, but very steep price and too small for me.
I have nine Benchmade they have great aesthetics but now full time Spyderco. Benchmade only on sale.
I live right next to a city with a 2.5 inch blade limit. I'd suggest the Spyderco Dragonfly 2, Spyderco Lil Native, and MKM Isonzo as competitive options. I haven't picked up an Immunity, but if someone wants high edge retention in this size range a Dragonfly 2 in K390 sells for just over $105.
That’s what I use is dragonfly 2 in camo green
Thought that it was a normal size knife and was upset when I saw how small it was
Absolutely love it but for me in Australia, I had to pay$400 and that was on sale lol . Great knife but especially here in Australia we get crazy overpriced for benchmade.
I agree I i want a full size Full Immunity. I traded w a friend of mine and i got the FI but he never sent pics of him holding it so i thought it was full size. When we met i was disappointed but still had that dopamine flowin so I kept it and idk it's a good knife. It's solid, it is a tank. Is it worth 300, it doesn't seem like it, maybe 200 but it's a little tank. The more I play with it the more i like it. Hope they release a fill size soon.
Not worth $270
What blade steels are tougher than M4?… It is one of the toughest
G'day Aaron, makes no sense whatsoever for me personally, but for small hands, legalities, a dry climate and ....... you have dough burning a hole in your pocket ..... sure, fill your boots ..... it certainly does appear to perform, gotta love a blade that goes through cardboard like that. Cheers Duke.
Cool for a compact knife but I'd be much more inclined to take a Bailout blade to the belt sander. That way I'd have a full (and thinner) handle with a compliant blade... 🤷🏻♂
Im happy with my Benchmade griptilian and presidio... so im good to go...too much $$$ for 2in of cutting plwer...is a pass for me
Kancept has a dirk Pinkerton knife that looks a lot like this at a fraction of the cost
You do a pretty good impression of Arnold👍🏻
Thanks!!
I bought one because I had to see for myself and I tend to carry smaller, lighter weight knifes. Think benchmade bugout. It was gorgeous to look at but some the edges of the axis lock were sharp and it was just too small. I returned it.
Totally understand it’s not for everyone
I bought one and i just cant hack the action washers+light blade= not a good action
That Arnold impression, made my day hahaha
It was funny AF 🤣
Held one in a store today. I couldn't get past the handle size. Price is a bit much too
Boker Kalashnikov with warrenclif you don't get m4 but you still get a durable affordable ergonomic knife for way less.
Typically people think smaller blades should cost less but the reason they aren't and sometimes cost more, because the smaller the blade the harder work it is to produce and usually more intricate too. As a knife maker myself I can attest to this being true, even a smaller knife can use close to the same amount of materials to produce believe it or not (of course it would depend how big vs how small, waste etc lol). I agree that knife needs to be bigger and I dont know what the deal is with making knives small anymore, perhaps its for the guys wearing girls jeans and they have smaller pockets 🤣. They claim its for less bulk in your pocket of course which i can agree with in certain situations, but personally I prefer a full sized handle at the very least. Interesting how its named full immunity and resembles a snake...no coincidence there im sure smh. Thanks for showing and have a safe holiday weekend!
Not even the same shape i kno, but size wise I've been absolutely in love with my baby banter from civivi(KnifeCenter exclusive in s35vn) at less than 150!
I'd rather 2 of those and could still grab a cold steel tough lite for the price of that.....
Sorry but benchmade is officially off my radar
It's a really nice knife. I saw and handled a few. I own a few Benchmades and enjoy their design and quality. But the pricing here just really makes me stop. Nice review as always!
945 MY FAVORITE MINI
Wtf the Schwarzenegger impersonation was on point 😂
Fitting name since I’m fully immune to Benchmade purchases from here on out .
Hahaha 🤣 nice 👍
The Full Immunity looks amazing. The price, however, does not. I’ll stick with my Spyderco Dragonfly.
I'll take the spyderco lil native with CPM Cruwear blacked out for 140.00 over this.
Hogue Deka in Magnacut for 150.
@Charles Salmond
Have it as well both are great knives.
Give me that with a 3"-3.5" blade and at 75% of the price. I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
M4 is a great steel is you want an ultra sharp edge.
BladeHQ has a Spyderco Delica 4 with M4 blade & teal scales for $124.99 I'd rather get that one even though I don't like the color of the scales because they look too girly.
Teal is a great color when using a blade around sheeple normies.
Certain colors look more aggressive, even when the blade model is exactly the same.
Example:
My tricked out PM2 with aftermarket titanium scales and naked Maxamet blade attracted more attention and stand-offish looks at work, than my PM2 with teal g10 scales and blackened S90V blade. It looks more like a toy....aka less threatening, despite being the same model and blade length with different handle/blade materials and blade finishes.
Cmon now Benchmade......270 for a keychain tool ??? Really now??? ok it is nice and wellmade but the asking price is clearly a joke.
It does remind me of a lot of these titanium razor blade cutters. They want $200 and doesn’t even have a blade in it. At least you have an excellent blade steel.
@@gideonstactical for the every day tasks , in a need of a knife to be done , a Civivi Elementum for example ,will do it at a 97 per cent of the Benchmade overall performance with the 1/5 of the price. We are not Cristiano Ronaldo who buys a watch of a 800000 price. We just need to see the time accurately to go to work, and we can do it with a 100 dollar watch.
*Correction* "How expensive is too expensive for EDC?"
Benchmade: 👁👄👁
I love mine. Fantastic knife. A great option for small carry vs the lil native.
The M4 Bailout would be cool to add a wharncliffe blade option
The allure in this is that it is permissible in many places with blade length restrictions. Like the city I live in. Perfect
That would be sick!!
Looks good.
All I can say is holy crap $270.
In experience, the blades under 3 inches are too small. Why? You even can't cut a folding paper easily and well.
About paying the price of the knife, it depends on CP in your mind. As a utility knife, I believe most people would not pay for it. But for a user facing on a robust operational/survival situation, it presents a not-waste-time-on-sharpening value. It could be an option. M4 has high edge retention and toughness better than Cruwear.
Yikes. Price for size is crazy.
Not into small knives. Especially for that price
Exactly. I just can't do it. I can't surrender my money for a small or mini anything, even when the design and materials are great.
I want more ergonomic handles and more cutting edge for my money.
It looks awesome, but it’s too tiny. Need a 3.5 inch blade version and reduce the price by $100.
Make it extra large and load them in the chopper, now!
Do it! Do it now!!!!
I personally can get 4 fingers on the Full Immunity. Been absolutely in love with this knife, worth the price!!
At that price it should have one of the ultra hard indestructible DLC coatings.
I might buy one anyway tho.. my all time favorite gym shorts (hot summer) knife has been the Spyderco Dragonfly for what, 15?, 20? years.. I love them, have several, but I’m just kinda bored with it all the sudden. Not sure why lol.
Maybe I’ll wait for Magnacut or something that doesn’t need a coating?
I've watched several reviews of this knife. Comment sections all echo one thought, "not at that price." If sales aren't good, it'll be discontinued in a couple years. Just my two cents.
Id rather have the Kershaw Iridium or Sencut Serene. The Butterfly tax stamp is ridiculously prohibitive.
With all the quality cross bar lock options from other companies, it's pointless to pay the exorbitant butterfly tax, unless a particular Benchmade model is really appealing for a buyer.
Yeah, this is a good knife, but would be an excellent knife if they actually made it in a size big enough for most people. Even the full-size version of this barely goes beyond the middle of my palm. It’s very awkward. I would have picked it up otherwise.
Benchmade has literally lost their minds with the outrageous pricing they think their knives are worth! Heck throw a Hogue Decka in magnacut up against this lil thing and then realize you're able to buy two Deckas and still have money leftover for lunch 😂
Whatever, I'll stick with the larger Hogue Deka in Magnacut or a Spyderco PM2 in Maxamet - both cheaper than this ripoff.
Maybe for some knives people it's just right .not to small or to big.🤔
They'll make a full size version for 500$
Haha for real!
Love Benchmades but the prices no longer make any sense.........
This was the only new Benchmade that had my interest when it was first announced last year, as I typically edc smaller knives. However, I will not be making the purchase. This is just too expensive. This doesn’t give me anymore functionality than a Spyderco Dragonfly or Meerkat, and less functionality than a Delica or Para 3. Spyderco offers these tools in a variety of steels including K390 or Maxamet for much less money.
I'd like to have a Benchmade, especially that one, but they are just too overpriced for what they are...
$140 max
To much for to little, Benchmade is pushing me away with prices.
Wish they made a 3.5
I would carry it all the time if they do!!
I slice up a lot of cardboard. For years I've been patiently waiting for a premium box cutter. I'm going to wait a little longer for the more expensive, why?, Partial Immunity.
W-a-y too much $ for too small a blade. Love the design though.
Comment
BenchMade lost all of my respect when:
1) They contributed to Killary’s 2016 campaign.
2) They helped the Oregon City police department destroy confiscated guns.
I live a few miles from them and would NOT buy anything from them. And I had one of their original balisong’s from the 80’s from Pacific Cutlery (before they became BenchMade).
Just know where your money goes when you buy something.
If you need more than a 2” blade for any EDC task, then you’re doing something wrong. As always, nice video.
Mucho $$ for such a small ka-nife.......I am very disappointed. I will pass on this ka-nife.
No one intelligent buys benchmade anymore and profiting off the planned-demic is also cringe. At least they do a decent ht for m4 but they often screw it up with burnt uneven edges.
I've said it before and I'll say it again folding knives are a gimmick
That’s a hot take!
Those Chinese Knive Companies could Never make a good knife on Phosphorus Bronze Washers their Tolerances just Sucked , the Invention of the Ball Bearing Pivot SAVED the Chinese Knife Industry , i mean i can put Ball Bearings between two 2x4's and have a good action , its Laughable .....
For those materials and design and USA made seems a bargain. I got mine already.
This might fly in big blue cities that have 2.5 inch blade length knife laws, a better solution is to move away and not supporting these people with your tax dollars.
Exactly.
Benchmade is a joke anymore. Selling pinky knives for full size pieces. They can’t come up any cool designs anymore. Overpriced junk.
Zero Tolerance is still reasonable priced and doesn’t use all that plastic on their knives.
We can almost understand what you're saying. Could you use less W pronunciation? You talk so Wuhu it is hard to understand.
Benchmade used to be expensive for what you got but it was still quality. Now they've priced themselves out of their own quality. They're just not worth it.
Cool…but 4 inch please Benchmade 4 inch !👍🔥
