"Is Aang developing a bit of a crush?"
Where have you been the last 14 episodes?
Bro had a crush the very first episode 😭😭
literally love at first sight 😭
This episode is when they first strongly hint at it, not so much in previous episodes 😂 😂.
15:49 I love that Sokka’s first thought here isn’t “hell yeah I was right” and instead is “we need to warn all the people.” Really shows how good of a person he is.
Indeed
In all honesty the creators did a great job showing his character growth. When he was introduced he was very ignorant and sexist so it’s nice to see that everyone grew mentally and physically not just Zuko
“Take care….floozy 😒” I never understood what that meant until now 😂 she rlly called Katara a hoe
Well in the German dub die say that 😂
i had to google it on my first watch😂
Oh boy, it’s everyone’s favorite episode: Sokka vs. Climate Change Deniers
LOL 😂 so true!
The rain comment reminds me of Bill O'Riley saying "tide comes in tide goes out. You can't explain that"
I love how at the end of the episode, both sokka and the villagers were right about the outcome of the village 😂
@@fordastreeets8019 am gonna put a cmment here for the chaos
I always saw it as sokka vs religion. Or sokka vs blind faith in religion
How has it taken you 14 episodes to realize that Aang is madly in love with Katara? My man has been STARING at her since episode one.
It's funny how the fortune teller was extremely right always, things needed to intervine for them to happen but they all occured accordingly in the end lol
Yeah! Aang didn't live in the village for her to not be right. It just so happened that the Avatar stayed in the village and with this Aunt Wu saw how the village will be safe.
Yeah the only problem in the village is the other villagers and how they will rely very much in her predictions and then they will not act or check stuff themselves, like science
@@aliceandrade7164 even Katara's prediction about how many kids and grandkids she'ss gonna have before she dies
@@aliceandrade7164However, the village was correct to trust her. She was right, ultimately the problem was solved.
She can see the results of fate, just not how it comes to be.
It's funny how Aang beat a Volcano without going into the Avatar state.
is your name a digimon reference
Roku in the Spirit World: Why didnt I manage to do this?😔
@@painvillegaming4119 And Pokemon too
To be fair, Rokus volcano looked like it was literally trying to kill itself and the whole island with how many eruptions it had and Roku got greedy with trying to save the town instead of easily just leaving everything behind and escaping with all the people
Aang didn't really stop the volcano, just created a shell around the town to divert the flow
I always thought Aunt Wu is legit. She's not believing her own bullshit or scamming, she's a real fortune teller. As the villagers point out, all her predictions are always right. Even in dangerous situations where she predicted everyone would be safe, the main characters save them so her prediction was in fact true.
I dont know if you noticed, but the woman who tells Meng her love is gonna give her a flower when theyre first meeting Aunt Wu is actually getting a flower by a man later. Theyre the couple who Aang asks where to find the panda lily.
Honestly, that detail alone is enough to convince me that Aunt Wu is legit.
She is, but just misinterpreted, the village wasn't detroyed even if it was due to outside interference, same with the traveler and his safe journeys and the woman with the Lily who we see later recieving one.
@@tsukimilo Yeah she saw the end result how everything will be fine. Not that magically nothing will happen.
To me it seems like village has a tradition of giving panda lilies to one they fancy, like it's same kind of vague thing as "your love will give you chocolate" or something like that, but I haven't noticed it's the same woman, that's cute. :D
Head cannon, the fluffy bunny cloud was there, but it disappeared because Aang showed up
Í support this theory.
1:24 Nah she compared him to Momo, man got Pet-zoned...😂😂😂😂
Sokka is one of the best characters in this show, along with Zuko, Iroh and a certain someone who we are gonna meet later.
Dillon
If Aang and the crew didn't show up, Aunt Wu wouldn't have any more customers. She would have came out sooner to read the clouds, and she would have seen the fluffy bunny cloud.
"What's the deal with this goose?"
....Dee Bradley Baker. Pretty sure that is the right answer to that question.
YES THANK YOU, they don't act like cartoons, they act like people.
Aunt Wu give her predictions. But on top of her predictions she gave Aang advice in a way to him, it sounds like a prediction.
I love Meng's voice, it's so nice
The kind you remember
👀
and the next time you hear it, she still doesn't like Katara 😂
What makes this episode so special is that Aang did something like no Avatar been able to do without using Avatar State. It just show how master of airbender Aang is.
Aang didn't actually stop the volcano, though. He just cooled enough of the lava to form a wall that protected the village. The volcano was still very much erupting.
@@Celestia282 why couldn't Roku do this? bro lost to a volcano
@@humanoidfrog4645 what r u referring to?
@@humanoidfrog4645 That Volcano and this one are entirely different beasts. Not only was that Volcano's eruptions much more violent, Roku only lost because he kept trying to fight it in order to save the village instead of just leaving and getting the people to safety.
The sad fact is that no one can truly defeat nature when it's out to truly destroy everything around it, not even someone in the Avatar State.
@@colt1903I dunno, I wouldn't put it past Kiyoshi to glare it into submission.
In spanish, at the end Soka says "I hate you" to the villager, and Meng says "I hate you" to Katara, so both phrases echoed eachother nicely.
When Aang got his 'Epic moment' in this episode is one of my favorite scenes of the entire show. And your reactions to it were great. 😂
Damn I haven’t heard the term “zutara” in fucking years 😂😂
"what can I do you for?" is a regular part of my speech and I always forget I picked it up from here until a rewatch, thanks Sokka
Aunt Wu said that the village wouldn't be destroyed by the volcano this year
That's not the same as "the volcano won't erupt this year". She was right and her vagueness did push the team to protect the village
When it comes to divination, it's good to keep in mind that the future is not set in stone. It can be used to predict a likely outcome based on certain patterns, but by using your free will you can break those patterns and get a different outcome. It's more of a guideline rather than a set script. It can tell you certain things, and it's up to you to decide how you feel about it and what to do with the information.
but in this episode all divinations came true xD when the gang took the initiative, it ends up with what was divined in the first place xD
@DeathKitta oh yeah XD An interesting way of seeing the concept of prophecy that I am a fan of is that in fact there is no "future", but everyone tends to act in a certain way due to their nature, and that nature can be so predictable, it makes predictions seem like knowing the outcome all along. And there are multiple theories about the source of (accurate) divination readings, where do they come from, but the knowledge you can get through it is sometimes to an extraordinary extent, that a normal human using deduction and empirical evidence couldn't foresee. So even the diviner doing the reading is often unaware of the extent of their prediction.
Even me breaking it down into that summary in my previous comment doesn't do it justice, because it doesn't encompass how absolutely bonkers divination can be, yet how accurate once you look into it more and in hindsight.
And with all that being said, I'm gonna be annoying like the villagers now and say that the prediction still holds true because the players played their parts according to their nature, which includes acting upon their free will. XD In theory, changing your fate sounds simple, but it's not easy to put into practice.
@@Melodymist the divination takes into account EVERYTHING, including the people who don't believe in it and act against it XD
@@DeathKitta exactly! XD
@@Melodymistit's called determinism and super determinism in quantum physics.
Ah, the episode where Sokka nearly breaks.
Dang, he got momozoned...
The shipping debates between Zutara and Kataang (Katara and Aang) can get pretty heated in the fandom.
The zutara shippers are free to leave
@@AgntFL If people want to ship those two, whatever...I just don't see why uts popular especially after him trying to kill her friend and betraying her....I seriously don't see why these two and its so popular
@@brandonboswell3625 With how popular it is in shipping the characters who tend to relate to Fire and Water, it’s really not that hard to see why they’re shipped, but it’s nice to respect the cannon ships as well. I personally prefer gen relationships (friendships) but shipping is alright, if a bit heated at times.
20:55 I think anyone would be scared seeing a giant skull forming in the sky
Aang stopping the volcano is one of my favorite moments in the show. Idk why. It just really starting showing Aang in a whole new light, seeing him matured more
Aang loved Katara at first sight
So… papaya 😎
You guys have mentioned in a couple episodes now about lavabending and intimating it being related to firebending. I can see how you would think that since it’s so hot and can cause fires when it contacts something but since lava is still basically rock it falls under earthbending. Thx! 👋
the comedy, especially with sokka, in this one is peak, it's one of my favourites
Is anybody gonna mention the notification sound in the background multiple times throughout the video.
I thought I was going crazy looking where the came from till I realized it was the video.
3:33 He makes it too easy
Aunt wu talking about katara and Aangs grandchildren.
"Aunt Wu, something's happening in the clouds!"
It's a mf skull, that always cracks me up
Air-bending is so OP.
The fire nation though so too
The rain comment reminds me of Bill O'Riley saying "tide comes in tide goes out. You can't explain that"
“Aang’s just a good friend. A sweet little guy, just like Momo.” Ooof friendzoned and then compared to a pet. Talk about a one two punch. Should he stop breathing to?
I like how Aunt Wu’s prediction for Aang proves to the audience that she does actually have the gift
In a world with spirits, a reincarnation cycle of avatars, elemental and sub elemental bending, destiny, etc., it really isn't that farfetched for there to be a legitimate fortune teller. It's just one of those catches where if you tell everyone their exact fortune, it may not turn out like it is, or certain conditions need to occur naturally for those initial predictions to actually happen, so she can only reveal or see certain parts of the future that are unlikely to be changed after gaining that future knowledge
That practice of bone reading was an actual practice in ancient times in China also known as oracle bones :)
Holy shit the comment section has a lot of shippers actually taking their comments seriously…? ATLA shipping is one hell of a drug. These guys are now being exposed to the insanity that’s been going on for almost 2 decades
Honestly everyone needs to just calm down and let people have thoughts and opinions on characters? Like it's literally fine holy shit
Meng's voice actress, Jessie Flowers, will return in season 2 as a very important character.
nothing Aunt Wu has said was really wrong. If you pay attention to how she says things, her predictions weren't wrong
The two main ships are Zutara, and Katang. I guess we won't spoil how it ends but they do fan the flames of both in the show
okay obsessed with the allegory used here 10/10
zutara is unlogical and the show never supports it exept for one episode where they didn't try to attack each other and it was focused on katara's revenge
@@humanoidfrog4645 I agree. Katara literally never shows any romantic interest in Zuko, they have like 3 total scenes together where they aren't literally battling each-other. Katara HATES Zuko almost the entire show.
@@humanoidfrog4645 true but all romantic development on the show is so minor that anything feels like alot
@@ShAdoWj1995 yeah that's becsuse of the depth in this show but i feel like people are only liking their relationship because they look good together and they can't ship zuko with anyone else
I feel like giving a fortune telling to the Avatar is a bit of a folly as he or she depending on when is more than likely to be involved in something big no matter what so I feel like the fortune could go for any of his or her current or future lives
Mind you I've seen the entire series but still lol this also means the fortune could be for every reincarnation as well as the current one
If your favorite character is Sokka rn, just wait because His character will get better in the series soon
This episode is super underrated. Great jokes and interesting themes.
Lava is earth bending
12:25 really? You can't? Even after we had covid and there were people during the pandemic going "nah, not an issue"
I'm just now realizing what floozy meant after all these years of watching the show and all i have to say is, This can't be a kids show, its not for kids, no way.😭🤦♀️😂😂
13:33 Imma timestamp this and come back for the Avatar after Korra 👀
The universe hates sokka because the universe knows sokka is the most powerful bender in the show..😂iykyk
Y’know rewatching the series really does put into perspective why so many people shipped Zutara
I never even considered the possibility when I first watched the series until the emerald island players.
?? zutara was never even hinted at or made as a possibility
@@humanoidfrog4645 and? Most ships aren’t canon that doesn’t stop people from thinking certain characters make make good pairs, that’s just how shipping works
The creators actually mocked the very idea of zutara in the ember island players
@@AgntFLThe creators actually did consider Zutara at first before it was finalized to end with Kataang.
Me when I watched this episode as a preteen: "Good on the creators for doing an anti religion theme."
Me when I watched this episode as a teenager: "Good on the creators for doing a religious freedom theme."
Me now that I've grown even more: "Good on the creators for doing a pro sensible religion theme."
The cloud symbol for volcanic destruction is a dark mark LOL
I just realized this episode can also apply to irl because of the whole believing this or not
23:30 why? Think about it, What is lava? It's not made of fire, it just catches things on fire because it's hot.
Boom choose a snkng ship already 😂😂
In the same episode
So after all the lore we've fit some time to bud some romance, of course how much you enjoy the episode will rely on how you feel about Aang and Katara as a potential couple, they call it Kataang, and yes Zutara is very popular too. Still the volcano scene was pretty epic, definitely a huge power play there
Also Sokka again for the comedy, though as prophecised painful and self-inflicted, thank god the Avatar universe didn't have twitter, Sokka would've had an aneurysm
The second Matrix gets a bad rep it is a good movie it just gets lumped with Revolutions as 'the Matrix Sequels', once you get past the brutally obvious CGI for one fight scene you're golden, maybe the chocolate cake scene too.
IDK if it's spoilers are not but there's really no romantic tension between Zuko and Katara, it's one of those classic reylo-tier cringe ships where you just ship the main girl character with the conflicted bad boy regardless of compatibility. Aang is so often supportive and compatible with Katara, and 90% of Zuko's interaction with Katara is shooting fireballs at her.
No one in the group cares about ships
There was actually in-fighting with the creative team about the ships, so there is content for both written in. And yes it is a spoiler. People were arguing about the ships up until the last episode aired, so you should let them have the same experience of not knowing the ending.
@@revangerangthere’s literally one scene that can even be remotely considered hinting at romance for zutara and the context of that scene actively removes the hinting
@@AgntFL You saying that doesn't change the actual fact that it was written in. Sorry bout it.
@@revangerang it also doesn’t change the fact that it was written to NOT be romantic. So there’s nothing to be sorry about, sutras shippers still salty
They love in a world where people can bend the earth and it's elements to their will, and spirits can abduct people to spiritual realms, yet to sokka somehow fortune telling is impossible, 🤨
But there are pretty strict limits only challenged by the Avatar. Some humans can bend one element, spirits can do strange stuff but normally stay in the spirit world. A human fortune teller is none of that.
Aunt Wu was right though, Katara will have three grandchildren. Katara and Aang have 3 children, and one of those children (Tenzen) will have 3 children. That means Aunt Wu's 3 grandchildren prediction was right. Well, until Rohan
13:31 anyone else had to pause at this moment or just me?
Bruh, I thought those were my notifications
You guys should do a short preview of next weeks episode like what letts react does
It's so funny watching these guys trying to predict what'll happen and getting like atleast 80% wrong lol (no hate its just genuinely funny)
20:36 That’s what it looks like over Ohio all the time 😂🤣💀
hey, when's the next episode of RiseTMNT since you made a 4 episode video last time?
I mean...it was a skull shaped cloud. I think anyone would be horrified by that especially if they made it up to run fake fortunes

i cant believe one of them is a zutara shipper
We’re not, it’s all jokes
I too love shipping based on "opposite attracts" with a fiery asshole shipped with a soothing waterbender but it's not Zutara xD

Beta Zutara shippers: Freaking out about some necklace situation that happened ages ago. Alpha Kataang shippers: Enamored with it being written in the stars that Aang and Katara will be together.
Goated take
I like both the ships... And if all that you spotted as a hint for zutara was the necklace situation... have you really payed attention while watching the show? The voice actors for Zuko and Katara aren't Zutara shippers for no reason, just saying... I understand liking one ship but there's no reason to throw shade on the other, especially one so popular and rooted for.
@@roxanashere7959 I've been a fan from the beginning and it's always seemed preposterous to me. Katara loathes Zuko and rightfully so and only stops loathing him with few episodes left. I'm pretty sure Zuko doesn't even know her name until around that same time. People who ship it don't care about the compatibility or even small details like liking or knowing each other, so it's always been a laughable ship to me.
@@bespectacledheroine7292 Hey, during my first watch I had the Kataang lenses on and wouldn't care for Zuko much. But after rewatching it, it's baffling that there are people who don't see how compatible Zuko and Katara are (even their voice actors thought that they were endgame and Zuko's V.A. keeps on shipping them to this day). They both had their mothers taken away by the fire nation, and let's not ignore the moments when Katara is the first one to ever touch his scar (on screen) and is willing to heal it using the only magical water she has, even when he was their enemy. And how Zuko almost died protecting her from Azula's lightning strike in the last Agni Kai. Again, I ship Aang with Katara as well, but the whole "written in the stars" plot is so oldschool... I'd rather have myself a dynamic story in romance. Zuko never truly harmed Katara, and she never harmed him. It just took them a while to understand eachother. And they are a great match all in all. It's ok to not ship them, but it's iffy to throw dirt at people who do. Just ship in peace. Both of the ships are afloat :)
@@roxanashere7959 he harmed her indirectly when he betrayed her trust and it got Aang killed the most I’m willing to give is that he let her touch the scar because he didn’t let the other girl do that but other than that I never saw the connection
