I liked the map, too. It pretty much laid things out for us, who are not from the area. 📜.
That hike looked so refreshing. However, the snow must have been *tricky. You looked like you were in the middle of nowhere, but as you pointed out, you were not far from the residents.🤗 I am glad you paused at that creek. It's sheer speed, noise, and power were so mesmerizing.💧... It's too bad the Visitors' Center was closed. That would have been interesting... **Thank you so much, Doug for all the fabulous information, and facts you imparted to us.🎉(With Los Angeles's current tragedy, the fact that the area supplies some water to LA is so timely.😢) Thank you, for showing us Kellie's very appetizing, yummy lunch... and for sharing the info she imparted, as well.
*** Once again, you both schooled some of us with interesting facts, including the wildlife in the region.
Thank you, so very much, Doug and Kellie.🏡🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❄️

@@rhondaz356 Hi Rhonda, I thought I might have overdone it with 3 maps, but I wanted to show everything so people traveling through could be able to throw in a little hiking break at the visitor's center to stretch their weary legs. The center is also worth a visit with great views. There is a power plant upstream on that creek, so you know it is a strong one. It was odd, and as you said, timely, about the fire in Chico and the LA water and Malibu fire (Can you believe the fire hydrants were turned off just like in Maui?). The diving grebes were noteworthy: they slick their feathers back every dive they vigorously take, pursue their shrimp, and then immediately plump their feathers out to dry in the sun when resurfaced; every time! Got almost all my outdoor projects done! You know what that means ...Begin indoor projects! Thank you for all your support! 🤠🇺🇸❤️🤍💙👼🦅🛸👋🛸💐

@CalNeva Thank you so much. I don't think you overdo. I think your info must be very informative to people coming to the region... and the rest of us LEARN.😃 Yes the power plant, etc. upstream is very important. I KNOW. To think that 0% of the fires in those, four regions is contained because of that is so tragic.😮‍💨 I knew nothing about grebes... I am not surprised that you'll be finishing up your outside work, and moving to indoor projects, Doug... We're just lucky that you bring us along, my friend, Doug.

Great hike northeast out of Lee Vining, CA. Sure beats any boring flat plains around here in Chicago. The beauty of nature
is everywhere if you go in search of it. This was a pretty fun one and not too far from the car, where you can warm up.

Thanks for showing us around. You do wonder if the visitor center was a portion of the LA Water Authority mitigation for drastically changing the lake. The historic natural lake level can be approximated in some of the shots. The geology looks mostly granitic with many granite cobbles in the drainage. Beautiful area. Especially was interested in Kelli's heathly cookies! We are urging you Doug to take on writing down your favorite healthy recipies from Kelli and making them available. We are all happy to pay but are wondering if we have to come to Hawthorne to talk to her about how to make some...... Happy Trails and Happy New Year!

@@chrisc8856 Hi Chris! I opine you may have hit the nail on the head concerning the lake litigation and such things as visitor's centers and lakeside walking trails. I keep trying to convince her to start selling "Kellie's Cookies", but she will have none of that persuasion. However, the perennial urging of sharing cookie recipes by our intelligent and healthy minded fan base has instigated a concession in my stubborn minded ways. I give up, I surrender to the incessant urging of the famished kooky cookie people who insist on Kellie's krispy cookie secrets. I will have to find a way to obtain this information from her, it could be done, it will be hard, but if anyone can obtain this information I am confident I can, give me some time to complete this daring and daunting "Operation Cookie" 🥠🍪🍩🍪🍪

I am sorry to hear the Bidwell Mansion burned down from an arsonist. Graduate of Chico State University 1975. When my mother and I toured it they had a baby grand piano that was made out of Rose Wood. It was beautiful and the tour guide asked if any one wants to play a tune and my mother created a beautiful sound out of it that I will never forget. Love the Mono Basin which reminds me to renew my Mono Lake Committee membership.
