Please keep making these man. I know they didn’t blow up like you wanted but if you casually mention them in one or two of your shorts I’m sure that people would love to see them. Thank you pal❤

Grew up in Huntington, New York (exit 51 off the L.I.E.) and spent a lot of time in Manhattan and a bit in Brooklyn and the Bronx. My heart broke when the towers fell. I was meant to be an architect, the skyline of NYC inspired that in me. I've been in RI since the late 90s but nothing has made me feel more pleasantly nostalgic than this video and the ones you have been doing just walking around. I love them! Please don't stop. Maybe one day I'll go back to the city.

WooHoo, Sam! A southern man gets to visit your neighborhood even if it's just vicariously.👍

Holy shit! Holy shit holy shit holy shit, I remember finding this video AGES ago, and I’m dead certain I left a comment ages ago but it got got somehow. I knew I recognized you from somewhere that wasn’t your Table Talk vids!
Loved seeing your vids back in the day, glad to see you poppin’ off!
EDIT: I remember what I’d commented about on the previous upload, even! I’d remarked about the history!
Before it was owned by the MTA, the Staten Island Railway was a subsidiary of the famous _Baltimore and Ohio Railroad!_ The signal systems on the SIR still date back to the B&O era, which is part of why it operates differently from the rest of the MTA rapid transit rail network. By virtue of being built in 1860, it is one of the oldest pieces of rail infrastructure the MTA operates, and the oldest rapid transit infrastructure by far, predating the Subway network by 44 years, the original Elevated lines by eight years, and the first surface public transit railroad line in Brooklyn by three.
The fourteen-mile mainline had two branches: the North Shore branch, which used to run all the way to Snug Harbor and Arlington (past Arlington, there’s still an old lift bridge connecting up to the mainline railroad tracks the B&O used ‘round Elizabethport), and the South Beach branch, which split off from the mainline after Clifton and went down to Arrochar.
There’re still a lot of remnants of both those lines, moreso on the North Shore. The shuttle to the ballpark ran along North Shore branch tracks til they shut that down post-Sandy, and there’re still visible track remnants along the shoreline north of Richmond Terrace to this day. Plus, when you get to Port Richmond, the rail viaduct is still standing, and the subsequent cut in Mariners Harbor still exists, too. There’re fewer remnants of the South Beach branch, but you can at least trace its path from Clifton on south on Google Maps - Langere, Tilson, and Cabot Places alongside Wilton Court trace out the start of its alignment, while Oceanside Avenue, Ragazzi Lane, Retner Street, Railroad Ave, Hastings Street, and Savo Lane - all south of the Verrazzano - trace the rest of it out.
Hope this finds ya well, man!
